Pink pop is great but I like this unplugged version better. He was too out of breath to nail the final verse at pink pop (for good reason). That’s the best part of the song and the unplugged is the best I’ve ever heard it.

I LOVE this unplugged version because you can see each musician in the band shine.. Yeah, I like the crazy energy of the pinkpop concert too. But they managed to 'make this unplugged show unforgettable!
My first choice for a song that is not on "TEN" would be the song REARVIEWMIRROR

Garden. Maybe not everyone's favourite but I have the memory of walking home (about 5 miles) an afternoon one day when the sun was blazing down (doesn't happen a lot in Northern Ireland) and I'd only been going a few minutes when Garden started on my walkman (I wonder how many people reading these comments would have no clue what a walkman is :p - yes I'm a relic).
It just summed up that day and felt perfect for the moment and it's still the first song I'll put on if I'm going for a long walk.

Pearl Jams second record Vs is also a 10/10! Songs like Animal, Rearviewmirror, Leash and Blood are insane!
Erik Gustafsson Ten is a stronger set of songs, but I think the band sounds way better on Vs. They are a more supple band on their second trip into the studio, and the production doesn't sound flat or muddy.

As much as I love every performance from Unplugged, you should have done the Pink Pop 92 version. Oh well.
91 politics is definitely nothing like the polarized thing we have now. But there were fights for certain bills and policies where somethings simply get buried so people who are stirred up with something but couldn't get their voices heard as there wasn't enough to even bring certain bills to the floor. The middle he refers to also can Mean the middle, the centrists, the moderates. "There ain't going to be a middle anymore." There isn't going to be a Middle between liberals and conservatives, just those two partisan camps and no Compromise in the middle. That was the Warning from Porch, when there was still a middle that held sway that did make compromises to push bills, that the compromise of the middle would no longer be there.
And he's right, That compromise, that middle, is now gone.

Look I can see how some of you think what you do about it! We're not talking late term or anything like that! I have survived being hurt by people, and idt I could've had a baby from those times. So YES I completely believe in pro-choice! But I believe if you're well into the 2nd and 3rd trimester that you should have it adopted...

Ten is one of the greatest albums ever made. No weak spots anywhere.
Sucks that the albums that followed got progress worse. Ten was definitely their best album. Vs and viatology were good, but after that is when it got bad. No code and yield are so average

I know Pearl Jam fans love most of their work, and there's a lot more to love, but I think Ten is just one of those cosmic moments where everything comes together. There are just so few albums that perfect. And even though they showed greatness of a number of songs moving forward, I don't think they ever reached the level that they did on Ten, just from a body of work standpoint.
Absolutely. Pearl Jam is active today has so many albums that came and went over the long years...but Nothing is First to Last Awesome as Ten was. I love many of their albums but its a pick and choose of songs off of those. Ten... first song to last song was awesome you could plop the CD in and Just listen to it all day without skipping ahead to the favorites, even the listing of the songs all seem to lead into each song. Rise then Fall like a Wave.

The thing you can see here in this unplugged version that people take for granted, is how tight the band was. They play together like a machine, so good for being so young back then.

TEN was an amazing album, yes. And so far we've had you guys discovering songs from that album, but we're just making sure you get all that goodness first before moving on to VS.
They evolve so much each album that starting with ten (which is pretty much greatest hits start to finish) is one of the best ways to be introduced to Pearl Jam.
Vitalogy is also a rlly good pearl jam album imo you guys should take a listen to Tremor Christ

just watched this song at Pinkpop 1992 and he was insane climbing on moving camera and jumped into crowd and bloodied his leg, but went on like nothing happened!🎸
Also: Eddie Vedder does a lot of vocal/lyric improv. That middle part was him effing around with that, improvising with the band. It's not particularly "important" to the song itself. Man. What a great performance.
I believe they had just got off from their huge European tour so they got home and basically waited all day until they did this. they just slowly warmed up until they were on fire towards the end. One of my favorite unplugged sessions!

I've been requesting sepultura almost since they started this channel and the one song they fucking picked was roots bloody roots. 🤦♂️🤦♂️....it's fucking fustrating. There was a bottle of vodka next to Vedder's stool during the unplugged session. By the end of the concert he was lit, and so we got that amazing ending performance.
Eddie is a master at his craft! He knows how to command an audience. Seen in concert 3x, all excellent.
I love the subtle smile on Sori's face and the look in her eyes when you know she's really into a song. You both make my day! Great review guys! I used to watch this unplugged over and over again when I was in high school. My mom (R.I.P.) would watch too. It brings back great memories. She would call most of my music noise, but she tolerated this.

The "middle" in my interpretation means an equal giving relationship. Eddie stated years ago that the song meant, "if you love someone, tell him". I see that he saying it's no longer in the middle. The porch is outside. Just like when someone doesn't invite you in.

Everyone talks about Pinkpop but they were told not to leave their stools or they would be cut off and he fell off the stool on this, the fifth song, and figured they were toast so he just went for it.
I think the outro was referring to the Gulf War and having a loved one go off to said war on a moments notice.

Also, I think “Porch” is a theme in Pearl Jam’s music. It pops up in multiple songs- I think it’s leaving his parents/childhood porch and moving into adulthood. “Rear view mirror” is another good song to look at for the same type of lyrics.
“Rearview Mirror” is also from a different album than “Ten” if that ups the curiosity for this song.
