I love this era of DC… great street level stories with Dark Knight, The Question, Green Arrow.
I'm really excited for that Question Omni, I've only read a handful of those.
I'm sold on getting these omnis! I love the hardcore grittiness of "Arrow" and wanted some of that on my shelf for Green Arrow. Love the design of both books and looking forward to the stories this one tells! I read "Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters" storyline and loved it, so I'm definitely getting these!
Man, for a 1480 page omnibus, I am impressed at how good the pages lay flat near the ends of both sides of the book. Im glad that they did a great job on this omnibus, as this is my favorite DC run besides Wonder Woman by George Perez and New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.
So awesome, I've been waiting for this video to hit, just ordered my copy. Can't wait to set this on my bookshelf next to V.1 and my signed Longbow Hunters comics. Only thing better than the series was meeting Mike Grell himself, such a great guy. Fingers crossed we get a Warlord Omni at some point. Thanks, Omar!
Finally! OPB put out a video about this book, but I hadn't realized how much I had grown accustomed to the info packed NMC videos and as a result that OPB video seemed a bit lackluster in comparison lol
Nobody can do it like Omar. That's why I wait on his videos.

Julia's colors on this run are absolutely iconic and deserve to be talked about more. They're really unique and just fit so well
I pre-ordered the first volume as my first DC omnibus. Read it over the span of 5 nights, around 3 hours each night. Probably my favorite omnibus I read in 2019. Looking forward to this one in another week or so when it arrives.
Thank you so much for making such a great channel. As someone new to comics but someone who loves Batman I've always seen it as too hard to get into comics and enjoy my fav character but your reading guides and overviews have been a gigantic help to me and now after just a month I've now been buying omnibus and hc/tp like crazy and don't feel as lost anymore as I know where to jump into certain runs. Maybe one day I'll be at the point I can try reading a crisis.

The binding in this book is really good. I wish they would’ve put the same attention to the superman exile omnibus.
Great overview, was not aware of this run or many Green Arrow storylines, liked the character a lot in the Justice League Unlimited animated tv show years back so looking forward to getting to know this character better. This story sounds awesome and the artwork looks phenomenal, cheers.

Yeah I kept that on the DL. But it’s funny that Grell mentions how he hated the idea and refused and then it turned out to be on his favorite stories.

The 80th anniversary story was not advertised in the original description. This appears to be a last minute addition because it was part of the Green Arrow 80yh special from just a few months ago.
I have mine already! Can't wait to get to it!
I kinda liked the OG cover. Maybe because of the lengthy delay I was used to the cover they just recently changed on Amazon and other places. This one is still good tho; worth finally getting it

Considering the size of this omni it looks like it’s one of the best built books for a long time. Nice design on the dustjacket too but a missed opportunity to have two awesome spines alongside one another. Looking forward to my preorder arrival!

Just bought vol 1. Eventually will have to buy this one. Wonder if DC considers doing books of the rest of the series. The Jim Aparo on art issues at the very least should be worth it.

I'm now low key tempted to pick this up. My introduction to Green Arrow was actually Judd Winck(one of my favorite CB writers) run which I adored and the excellent Green Arrow Year one(criminally underrated, One of the best year one stories) but I never really read Longbow Hunters or Mike Grell. I know but I definitely need to change that considering my love of Daredevil and the grittier more street level characters. And Oliver Queen fits that.
Grell's run is so far superior than anything that came after him.

The lack of consistency between the outer designs of this and Vol. 1 is absolute trash, but now I'm kinda curious about this run.
It's an amazing run, I wish the spines synced up better but it's so good that it's worth overlooking. I've never gotten a custom dust jacket made but I'm admittedly tempted now.
@@Krypton_Ken Once I was able to get over the Marvel Silver Age spine font size change, I really can't bring myself to care about that stuff too much. I get why someone else might, though. Either way, I might have to add these Omnis to the list. The only GA stuff I own is the early Jack Kirby volume and GL/GA by O'Neil and Adams.
@@hamzadawud It was definitely a big shift for GA, much more serious, character driven and grounded in the real world. For me the run, especially the Longbow Hunters mini is right up there with Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, and the Hawkworld mini, which deserves way more love. I think you'd really enjoy it if you like that era and those types of comics.

What was the conversation you had with the designer of the book; how did they explain the design differences?
10:35 issue 0 was written by Kelly pucket and he and Jim aparo created Conner hawke not chuck dixon he was just assigned to write him after dc killed Oliver

Not a fan of the Black label… well label I guess. The label itself is fine it’s just when it replaces the Vertigo label. Also on books like this. Just past runs that came before black label. Doesn’t make sense to me. Either way I’ve been looking forward to this book as well as this review. Great job as always

I’m so glad this is finally out! The first volume was so freaking good, definitely looking forward to finishing Grell’s amazing run. To me this is the definitive Green Arrow. Lemire’s Green Arrow is a great but I do prefer Mike Grell’s. Thx for the great overview as always Omar.
Hey Omar great review as always but I have a question, why did they put rebirth arrow era covers to the back I don't get the relevance with this particular run, is it dc being sloppy as always or what do you think is the reason ?
Well, it was Green Arrow’s 80th anniversary..so it makes sense to add several covers over the years

I love both volumes individually but they look terrible next to each other. If I pursue this pair, I'll probably look into getting a custom jacket for one of them so they match. Any suggestions for a good service?
Try looking at Marvel Silver Age Omnis next to each other after the redesign. That's what I would call terrible. I stopped buying them for that very reason. This is not ideal by any means but multiple orders of magnitude less offensive to the eye.
Those variant covers in the back are Grell’s covers for the Rebirth issues. Which concerns me, because I’d love to see a Green Arrow Rebirth omni, but if they’re including extras in this book from the Rebirth era, will we even see an omni for Rebirth?

Had this pre ordered but just cancelled it because of the spine (thanks for the warning) bought the first volume last week and i'm glad i hadn't unwrapped it yet because that's going back tomorrow. I can't even comprehend why DC continually goes out of its way to change their spines and logos every week it seems like, going to grab Ultimate Spiderman vol 1 instead. I may look into a custom spine at some point but thats really angered me, I know to some it's a small thing but we pay a lot of $ for these books the least they can do is pretend they give a toss about their own characters enough to do it right.
Marvel too will change your Ultimate Spidey trade design before the run is complete. They might even change the name of the book (look Miles Morales Omnis). I'm not defending DC, no one who knows their collected editions history could, but Marvel is now even worse. Not to mention they cost more due to Penguin reduced discounts and they still almost always arrive dinged (Penguin packaging to stores is on par with Diamond now, so very lousy, compared to the stellar shipments for DC products).
@@andreamateria3106 Yea i see what Marvel is doing with the older omnibus, but they aren't changing any of the modern books just the older stuff that i don't collect anyway, Kirby, Lee etc. I think they are changing the Miles Morales one because they are releasing the Ultimate Spiderman (peter parker version) books so they are taking the "Ultimate" out of the Miles books so as not to confuse people which i'm ok with. But i see what you're saying i didn't mean to bash DC only but it really ticks me off, I'm in Australia so we pay corrupt prices here for our books so i just want them to do it right.

Dont think I’ll re-read this series so digital for me. It was a hard decision but I can’t buy everything.
I can’t stand when dc and marvel change the damn dust jackets between omnibus, they should always keep them the same! It’s not that hard to do. They always make my shelves look like crap because of it and it does piss me off. Marvel does it too but dc is the worse of the two. Otherwise I love the green arrow omnibus so far, I still haven’t got to purchase this vol 2 yet. I read the first long bow hunter arc in the first Omnibus but right now I’m finishing X-men vol 2 Claremont omnibus( love this run. I will be purchasing this book next and then I will start working on buying the first couple no man land omnibus.
