I was a little embarrassed to admit all the cheesy things that made me cry, but after working on this episode, I've decided that crying is a really valuable reminder of the values you hold and the people (or animals) you care about. Those tears mean we aren't just saying that we care about things like kindness and justice, we actually do care on a fundamental level, maybe even more than we realize.

Hhmmm, I'm 53 years old. My father passed away three days after my 21st birthday. I didn't cry at the news or the funeral. I haven't cried for him at all. Six months ago I nail gunned a nail through my forearm. It hurt so much I cried all the way to the hospital and beyond. Why the difference?
@@ferglesnerk Your "programmed" by society to not cry for emotional purposes, as a lot of men are. Or you just simply dont have that emotional connection between these muscle and your brain.
@@ferglesnerk my take away from the video was that some people just seem to not cry as much. maybe it's a personality thing, maybe psychological pain isn't so visceral for you, who knows? but a nail gun to the arm will definitely cause visceral pain that can't be ignored.
That would have been really hard for me to do; I think it was really creative to want to pursue this and go after it with regularity and honesty. It was also very brave.

Borkwoof 19 omg, that must have been so hard to watch. There was a husky who’s owner died and it was crying on the grave stone and you could see the tears. The only time I saw something like that in person was years ago. My dog was dying and she had to be put down. My mom didn’t want me to see it so she did it while I was in school. I realized, that I started crying more, when I stopped getting angry.
I'm often filled with rage after crying, maybe it's a defence mechanism. Definitely connected somehow.

You didn't stop getting angry, u we're consumed with so much anger that u couldn't quench, so u released it in a cry. A very healthy way to deal with it too!! This is not an instruction manual to all individuals. I just imagined.
Timothy Novotny the causes of anger r being hurt or frustrated, so when ur angry cause ur hurt itll make sense to cry, which in turns releases endorphins which makes u calmer or relieved, someone who cried for too long might also say they feel numb, as in numb dont feel anything at all, any sort of emotions, it could feel like a restart button to not wanting to be angry
I realised I started crying less when I started getting angry rather than not ever get angry when I should

This video made me think of crying from my recent loss with family members who have died. Crying from grief feels completely different than anything she hit on in this entire video. I felt like the tears were never going to stop for weeks after my cousin past unexpectedly.

i have a really bad temper but my psychiatrist told me to ask my self this question when I'm about to blow up. do i control my emotions or do my emotions control me? idk why but this gets my mind in a better state. just thought that this could be of help :)

I have a pretty logical reason to why people feel relaxed when they cry but im not a scientist, so it doesn't really matter
But i think the reason is that some nerves cool down when you cry, causing you to relax, mentally, your brain realizes you let the pain out, causing you into a relaxing, or going to sleep, stage, that's why many people cry their selves to sleep

What an excellent job with this Joss! SEVERAL times during this I welled up,...(here it goes again) and then you were explaining WHY it was happening, lol. I never thought too much about the psychology of crying, I just thought that it was a natural phenomena of emotions.
I cry almost every time something reminds me of my mom. When that guy started crying because of the same reason, I also started crying. I was 19 when she passed.
It'll be 9 years ago in January, but it still feels like it was yesterday.

Extremely well done! I actually held a presentation obout the topic once. One thing/occasion which also is peculiar for crying is witnessing a special moment (like first day of school) the theory there was that we moan the passing of time or that nothing can last forever..
In general realized that I really cry seldomly max. twice a year. For years I just couldn't, in spite of being heavily depressed. At the funeral of a loved one I tried to make me do it, but it didn't work. Now I'm more in touch with my emotions so occasionally I do cry, and it really is soothing 😌

I think it means, you have some feelings that are hidden, some feelings that you need to release. Dont hold the pain back, just go with it till the end, even if it feels your heart is gona blow, its sooo worthwhile!!!

Its not exactly right that humans are the only animals that cry of emotion. Cows cry when they realizite that someone of their family died, they cry because they think of them , so they miss them. To miss someone is an emotion of sadness, so cows cry of emotion too!

It's my coping mechanism.
I remember crying occasionally when I was in high school....sometimes it's a mild reason that just builds up to huge amount of tears I do not know why...sometimes I'll just lay in bed empty thoughts and just cry a bit and then go normally back to my routine as if that didn't happen at all...I used to think it was normal because I told my best friend about it and she said she did that too lol
i guess teenagers cry a lot more than adults because me and most of my friend cry at least everyday
I bottle up my emotion and I tend to have a "phantom cry" where tears aren't flowing but I feel like I am.
