In the DC Universe, green Kryptonite can be used as more than simply a weapon against Superman. In some cases, it has been used as a power source. The robot Metallo is powered by green Kryptonite, which he also uses to fight Superman, and in the Justice League animated series, Lex Luthor even created a power station that was powered by green Kryptonite, and Lex somehow manipulated Superman into destroying it in order to turn the people of Metropolis against Superman.
Also, what I find to be strange is that sometimes a tiny piece of green Kryptonite is enough to kill Superman, while other times, Superman can resist the effects of a large amount of green Kryptonite.
Interesting video! As recommendation for good sci fi: Severance. It’s must watch tv and illustrates most of your points very well and adds the point of a very unique visual style to the story.
Another great video! Exploring the detrimental consequences of pioneering technology, is something that Blake Crouch does perfectly in his distopian sci-fi novels. Specifically Recursion 👌 Managing consistency is so important, and in my mind, this is something that he upholds really well. It's definitely one to check out!
As a long time 40K fan What most people see is the main premise of the current story, however people don’t realize that humanity was once a highly advanced civilization even being able to put the forerunners from halo to shame, where a small corvette class science vessel was able to destroy several imperial battleships in less than a second, all the while they made use of artificial intelligences to create robots with the ability to self heal, as well as infect any technology regardless of sophistication, such as a single AI was capable of deactivating and control several space marines power armor, and again considering that most of the imperiums weapons are essential glorified tools, like the melta weapons used by the imperium is essentially a weaponized oxyacetylene torch, a gravity cannon is basically a glorified tractor beam used in the movement of heavy cargo such as space ship parts or heavy equipment, the humble chimera was basically an up gunned and up armored crawler, but due to its rugged design as well as flexibility made it ideal for the guard as a multi role war machine, all the while titans and knights were basically glorified weapons platforms meant to deal with more dangerous environments like the mega arachnids and even then they’re based off of the original designs from the AI rebellion and was capable of time travel , unfortunately the science crew didn’t last very long
When tech gets advanced enough where post-scarcity is on the table, the author has to answer a question, which is where the conflict in the story or environment comes from. In the case of an extermination war, there are only a few sensible environments, the most realistic being a roughly evenly matched or perhaps slightly mismatched level of economic/tech capabilities between the powers at be, forcing the environment of such a grim survival story. This isn't a bad thing, and even allows for something I like to call "Strategist's horror" where the elements of the conflict surrounding or outside the control of the characters drive the tension, where even if the protagonist(s) are exceptional and on a winning streak, they can still feel pressured by the fact they can't be everywhere at once. Forced into dilemmas which explore the characters in how they approach reacting to those dilemmas. I believe the only 'moderate' circumstance for an extermination war to actually avoid this trap while still being a contest is if a third, much more powerful existence neutral or hostile to both warring parties must not be stirred into action. Other sources of conflict can include things like rebellion/revolution plots, social struggles, passion-projects, and other much more light-hearted and less severe points of contention, but when it comes to war the causes for which are limited: Containment, Extermination, Control/Vassalization, Grudge, and Resource Acquisition. Resource Acquisition flies in the face of post-scarcity, and has been a major cause of wars throughout history.
I want to mention a series that does it so well that a lot of people sleep on that i would love for you to cover ace combat does "realistic scifi" super well, and strangereal is a universe i would LOVE for you to dive more in 1)Ace combat 3 (the japanese version) does this idea well with "electrosphere" being suck a pivotal part of its story, which i'm sure you would be interested in. 2)then there is the Connection for Flight Interface (AKA-COFFIN) in the games, an entire system that connects the pilot via sensors to the aircraft, essentially turning them into the craft, and has very interesting lore behind it as well. it can get a bit dark in ace combat 3 (japanese version) though XD. (this is the answer to point 3 at 15:40) 3) nearly ALL ace combat tech has taken inspiration from technology that exist or is in the works IRL now, so it is a solid example of "Realistic sci fi" that i can find. stuff like how the ADF-01 falken and stuff in real life would be lockheed martin's and nasa's 2023 X-59 quesst, or how TLS systems are used on a few US war ships. EDIT: this is a good example if you were to ever do a part 2 to this video, it truly does all of your points at 15:40. and explains the weaknesses, and to prove it, ACE COMBAT 3 is the start of the USGF timeline which icludes starblade, galaga, etc etc. (which can help support point 2 you made in your video here)
@@AuthorsAnvil no problem. i like scifi stories myself and think its one that could be looked at. AC fans usually say "its star wars with real jets"(ad some original fictional designs) so it has its cheesy moments, but the technology side of it all is interesting
@@AuthorsAnvil oh aqd if you want the "best ref" Ace Combat 3 and Ace Combat infinity are strong games that'll be good to get the idea of how the tech works but canonical order(by story ) the games are 1, 2, 4, zero, 5, 6, 7/infinity, and then 3.
About Stark tech let me play devil's advocate. In my head canon I always saw that as a economic issue, like his suit is in the cutting edge of technology and science. If you think that one nanobot suit cost billion's the technology isn't at a development stage where it's economically viable to other things like construction. Even his first suits, if you assume Mark II or III cost hundred of millions to produce or even dozens of millions, even the US government wouldn't mass produce such a hardware to it's troops it's not worthy it. Of course that generates a problem that the longer the continuity get's it's make it harder to justify those advanced technologies not trickling down to the rest of society as it's becomes more mature and cheaper to produce. But as they introduced nanotech at the end of the infinity saga I don't think it's break this logic, 5 years is not enough for something like this to become cheap and easy to mass produce. Specially at the nanoscale, one of the problems to use something like graphene in commercial product has been how to mass produce the graphene and integrate it at whatever structure configuration they need in a given hardware. And this is something that has been a problem for longer than a decade. But it does becomes a problem as the MCU continues to exist, the world will need to diverge from ours or they will need to reboot to always let the world freeze in time like the comics.
That is a really good point, I guess we'll see how they handle the nanotech going forward into Phase 5 of the MCU and whether it does become more integrated into society
Not a bad video. But i must ask is it a good idea to use ip such as star wars and Warhammer 40k as an example? when both of these IP are more science fantasy then science fiction? Both of these have more in common with J.R.R Tolkien lords of the ring or C.S lewis Chronicles Of Narnia. Then Isaac Asmov foundation series and H.G wells War of the worlds.

this is such a well made video, goodjob to you! subscribing,
Reminds me of that meme where someone said:
>society has access to nuclear cars
>still uses diesel powered cars😂

Tbh this applies to most Fantasy media as well. Magic is just fantasy science after all.
This was such a good video dude! Well done
