Context for the cookie-cutter sharks: They attach themselves to fish / sea mammals and cut off a round chunk of flesh to eat. Early in the US submarine programs the communication devices were being damaged by the cookie-cutter sharks cutting out bits of the equipment thinking it was something they could eat. To combat this the materials used were hardened and now the sharks leave the submarines alone.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, it was the rubber covering of equipment that they were taking bites out of. Something similar happened with giant squid which actually helped classify the species.

15:30 I actually recently had an extremely revealing conversation about this with a friend from the US (being European - but not Italian - myself). The friend also disliked lasagna because he doesn't like ricotta and my first reaction was "since when is there ricotta in lasagna?"
One Google later, turns out that there are *two* traditional ways of making lasagna - one with ricotta, like my friend knows, and one with bechamel, which is the one I'm used to. The reason why the US Americans tend to know the ricotta version best is because the origins of these two versions come from, respectively, the North and South regions of Italy - meaning the US version of lasagna is more likely to have ricotta because it was primarily Southern Italians who brought it to the States.
So for those of you who don't like lasagna because of the ricotta, try one with bechamel!

    • @MisterIncog

10:56 horses were always like that. Lippizaner horses - the traditional 'war horse', always white like in the first picture - are serious characters to work with and are now used for movies because they're comparatively easy to train to not fear things like loud noises, flashes of light etc. I have also been told that if they're treated with respect, they bond really strongly with their rider and absolutely will kick a mofo to death for threatening them.
However... your average teenage horse girl really doesn't need one of those. Even during the Napoleonic wars and such, people just *also* needed horses to drive carts, pull giant logs, win races and other such things. Even on the battlefield you didn't only get the actual warhorses, you got the horses ridden by messengers (small, fast, and not particularly courageous), and again, draft horses to pull things...

Fun fact, if you only take into account the men who ask for custody in divorce court, men are actually more likely to get custody than women, not less. People think that men are less likely to be awarded custody because so few men request custody in court. Most only complain after the fact instead of actually going through the legal process.

After a quick google, "General Butt Naked" seriously undersells just how messed up the guy was. He was a warlord during the First Liberian Civil War, and he also forced his entire unit to also wear nothing but shoes and magic charms, claiming that it made them bulletproof. Oh yeah, and the unit consisted primarily of _child_ soldiers. Children that he also forced to take psychoactive drugs so they would be more willing to listen to him.
And we can't forget that he would also regularly commit child sacrifices and cannibalism, supposedly because the devil told him it would make him and his soldiers stronger. Whenever they would they would capture a new town, he would slaughter one of the town's children and eat their heart raw. He also committed non-ritualistic killings and cannibalisms of children, drowning them while they were swimming or snapping their necks underwater. Sometimes he made it look like an accident, and sometime he just slaughtered them.
"General Butt Naked" just makes him sound like a regular loon that thinks himself the modern day Caratacus.

3:54 When explorers discovered The Platypus, naturalists thiught it was a scam and checked its hide thoroughly for seams or evidence of sewing.
To be fair, this was around the time people would sew a cow's torso to a tuna's tail and call it a mermaid, so a Duck-Beaver with spikes on its ankles would be rather suspect.

7:29 for context in the 70s multiple US Navy submarines were forced to return to base for repairs after cookie cutter sharks but through the neoprene boots of the sonar domes, causing the sound transmitting oil inside to leak which affected navigation. This was fixed by replacing the neoprene domes with fiberglass ones. In the 80s 30 more submarines were damaged after cookie cutter sharks bit through many rubber coated components, which were fixed with fiberglass again

That means that since Germany is called "Deutschland" in German and "Duitsland" in Dutsch "Dutchland" basically means Germany. The reason why the people and language from the Netherlands are called "Dutch" is because at the time that the English started calling them that they were still seen as German. If you were to change the language to represent this better then Germany would be "Dutchland", German "Dutch" and Dutch "Netherlandish"(since the Dutch word for it is "Nederlands").

I've never watched One Piece, but I will say it is so refreshing to see a live action adaptation be received so well. Might give it a shot :D The live action, that is. I don't have nearly enough time to go through 900 episodes of the anime to get to the good part... or however long it takes.

Personally, i enjoyed it right from the start, but most of the people who say they didnt started liking it during baratie, which is pretty soon in if you have the magical "+15" button to get through the earlier parts. Theres also the manga, which seems to be more enticing at the start if you think that would work too.

I swear Todd must have gotten told off by Microsoft or something, because I hear people constantly talking about how they didn't realise there wouldn't be that much actual space travel or planet travel in Starfield. Yet he straight up said in an interview shortly after that very first gameplay trailer many things which implied this was the case. Didn't see much of that info after the showcase, which is why I think someone told him off for being too honest.
No joke, people are surprised it didn't have as much as they thought. But from what I'd heard him say, there was more to it than I expected. like even the pointless randomly spawned houses and shit on planets was more than I thought it would have outside of set locations.
