I just want to inform you today I saw a tweet with two photos of Taylor Swift. She has her hair parted in two different spots. The tweet wonders-in a conspiratorial manner-how this can be possible

though I think we can all agree that there's a lot of misogyny going on in the industry when it comes to celebrity fatigue (as you mentioned about Hathaway and Jlaw), I think the main reason why people have started to turn on TS is that her pr is just getting... boring. ever since the start of her career, she's been singing about her love life and exes. at first, it was more carefree and as she became bigger and dated bigger people it started to become more scrutinised. And now that her new album is coming out swifties are assuming it'll be a slam on her long time ex joe alwyn and for me personally, the whole date a guy-write a love song-break up with him-write about how he was a piece of shit cycle just becomes exhausting. I'm not saying she can't write about her love life (and as she herself has pointed out the angle is quite sexist in a lot of different ways) but it's just getting annoying. especially when Swifties jump on opportunities to shit on her exes so quickly. same with Selena Gomez, people used to see her as a victim, but now she is just a self-victimising celeb who can't stop talking about her single-ness (yes ik she is dating Benny Blanco).
also the cease and desist to a barely adult who was just publishing public info. people turn on those in positions of power and authority because of the advantage their goodwill and wealth provide them with. That too in the middle of a climate crisis where she's just choosing to go back and forth for appearances is not it

I'm also burned out on people who think Taylor can do no wrong and is perfect, paint her in a perfect light. I don't care if people want to worship her like a god (which she isn't) just don't make up lies and justifications for all the wrong she has done in order to do it. First example is her lying saying Kanye didn't seek approval for his lyrics about her, when there is a flat out recording of her giving approval.

I’m not going to disagree with all that you said but you’re literally wrong in your example.
If you’ve actually watched the FULL released conversation, he was lying to her about the nature of the line the whole time. He never said he’d call her a birch or that he made her famous, only that the line might say that she owed him sex

Agree with the reply above also those are mostly her teen fans. Fans defending celebrities even if they're wrong is nothing new, 90% of fandoms are unfortunately like that eg. Fans of nicki minaj, kpop groups, ariana grande and so on. This type of fan behavior and celebrity worship culture should definitely change but it's not unique to her.

on 5:00 when you say this happens to women a lot more and that you think that its because its systemic. I'll just call it out rn, guys dgaf about any of this stuff. It is not guys saying all of that talk about anne hathway or jennifer lawrence or any of that, we dont care. Most of the people in these fandoms are women. I've never heard of this and am only watching this vid because it showed up in my recs and i like supporting smaller creators. I don't even know what taylor swift sounds like and no-one I know does either. I think its more likely that a lot of the reason these trends start are because of toxic, bitter people who like to bring others down, whether that be out of jealousy or out of anything, and I don't think its systemic or dudes' fault or anything. gud video tho

That’s a fair callout! I agree that most people who care (and hate) these celebrities are likely women. Women can be terrible to other women (thus I wouldn’t attribute it to men’s fault and call it a day.) What I meant to point out is more the strange expectations of women/women celebrities, i.e. the constant dissections of Anne Hathaway’s appearance/likability and disproportionate reaction to her being perceived as “try-hard.” These expectations, which occur in society outside of celebrity culture, harm and certainly can be perpetuated by women, too. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I think people getting tired of overexposed celebrities could also be linked to the major shift in the perception of celebrity culture post pandemic. We the people are just tired.
