    I just realized Brad knows more about sex and the city than an inner city homosexual.

      I'm curious as to how you came to think inner city homosexuals have any interest in Sex and The City....I don't think most of them even watch that much TV.

    I'm confused. This *isn't* a bad porn spoof?
    It's just about as well written and directed as a bad porn spoof?

    • @Beany2007FTW

      Whisper it, but in all seriousness, I really had assumed that someone had made a porno spoof of SATC and had named it SITC (or vice versa).
      I genuinely wasn't expecting the actual film. Totally worth it it though.
      Lauras 'fake carrie' monologues initially caught me out as well. A little more work on the audio levels and I'd probably have completely fallen for some of the subtler ones.

    So The Snob is a Miranda.
    BTW I was a big Sex and the City fan until the films came out and ruined any good will I had towards the franchise. Rewatching the show recently, it was pretty good! The last season kind of sucked because I wasn't very interested in Carrie's various plots, especially since I hated how her whole arch was whether or not she would end up with Big. I really enjoyed everything else, though. And yes, I fucking hated how the movie ruined the series. The second film was way, way worse though.

    • @scitechian

      I always think of the old-school Family Guy episode where Brian's gay friend calls in a favor, making it sound like sexual hijinks will ensue, and it turns out he just wants to watch Sex and the City with him. Brian's summary: "So... it's a show about three hookers and their mom?" always pops up in my head whenever this franchise is referenced.

    I kinda love the show too much to have ever found the will to watch the movie, knowing they were gonna shit on the entire development of the former, like you said. But this review? This I can do. Thanks for making it bearable, Snob. (Plus my mind is also blown that you watched the show and know *exactly* why this movie hurts. I didn't expect it.)

    • @MyssBlewm
      @MyssBlewm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Rebeca A. Yes, stay away from the films. I stayed away from the show for a few years because I thought watching both movies was a good idea. Eventually, I decided to rewatch the show and was surprised at how good it was because I only remember the pains of seeing the characters become parodies of themselves. Snob's review was a lot of fun. LOL

  • @BlackburnBigdragon
    @BlackburnBigdragon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Looking at this movie, my constant thought, looking at everything is, "It must be nice to have money." Every character is this wealthy, vapid stereotype blank slate and they're designed that way on purpose so that idiot viewers can put themselves in their shoes and see themselves and their friends as these characters in their fantasies. This movie of course doesn't do that justice by having one shit in her pants, but you know what I mean. Many people have fantasies of having these New York adventures, finding love, dating guys, going out with friends to trendy cupcake and wine bars (Yes, this is the show that started that trend). Many people have these fantasies of having this "upscale life" and these "goofy adventures" and by making these characters as blank and stereotypical as possible, it allows people to assign themselves to one, one of their friends to another, another friend to another. Everyone has a friend who's "The funny one.". Everyone has a friend who's "The straight one." etc.. That's how they wrote this show.

      EvolMuzik4ever yeah she's awful. I used to get sucked into watching rerun episodes of the show because to me it was like a wreck I couldn't look away from. I couldn't relate to any of the main characters because they're all wealthy big city women that buy pairs of shoes that cost more than I make in several months lol

    • @MyssBlewm
      @MyssBlewm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I find Carrie to be the worst of the four women, but I appreciate that she's human and fucks up and owns up to it. But it's hard to root for her when she continually puts herself in shitty relationships and expects her friends to put up with it. IDK As I've gotten older, I've come to constantly change my views of this show. Some elements of the show are great, while some others are really fucking annoying.

    • @4Mr.Crowley2
      @4Mr.Crowley2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Carrie also treated a lot of guys like sh!t, but of course it was always about how pooooooor Carrie was so hurt by so many evil men. She did a lot of sh!tty things -- honestly her lying to Miranda, who was always supposed to be her bestest of the best friends, about her affair with Big, and the level she and Big sank to with fecking in the bed he shared with his WIFE, and Carrie running out of the apartment when poor Natasha came home early (a young woman who did nothing wrong but trust Big), oh that was some truly brutal sh!t. I got that Carrie was very flawed -- and the show clearly indicated that -- but it was hard for me to like her again (I also thought her histrionics with "the Russian" were irritating as well -- both of them were too old for that crap).

    This..was bad. And I mean Mamma Mia movie bad. Just...I never was a fan of the series; the entire concept just didn't apeal to me. But this..this is truly atrocious, particularly taking into consideration, that it was written and diretcted by the series' main writer/director. This is the Arac Attack to the movie Arachnophopia; while the latter surely wasn't a masterpiece, it didn't make you feel insulted.
    Oh and each time Brad crumpled up and threw a piece of paper over his shoulder, I got the impression somebody just told Michael Keaton to add a little more Mr. Burns to his Bruce Wayne persona^^:D It's harsh, poignant, elegant and so badass, I crack a grin each time.

    In Sex in The City the main 4 girls break up with their boyfriends no damn reason. They meet a guy that they have good chemistry with, and some convoluted, insignificant, stupid thing happens that breaks them up.
    That is basically the premise of the show, it sucks.

    I agree this film's major issue is MPK. The show had a great writing staff and Michael should've collaborated with them on the script.
    You had me cracking up about Charolette's crazy eyes. It's especially funny because I first saw the actress on Melrose Place and her eyes were especially crazy but I also remember her actually being psychotic.
    And yes Jhud was getting her mammy on.
    In regards to the sequel I had to immediately apologize to my friend for taking her with me to go see it.

I have the whole series on DVD and know every ep by heart. I hated this movie for all the reasons you gave, and didn’t even bother with the sequel. "Love Letters of Great Men", which Carrie borrows from the library, was a prop created for the film and no such book existed during production. Demands from fans wishing to purchase the book led to many editions of a "Love Letters of Great Men" book being published. The official tie-in version was compiled by John C. Kirkland and released the same day as the film, and other editions were compiled by Ursula Doyle and Becon Hill.

    This movie grosses me out due to my distaste for flaunting one's affluence. I think of the starving children that could be fed, the polluted waterways that could be cleaned, or the breakthrough medicines that could be developed with the money these four women spend on clothes and jewelry. Then I shiver in disgust.
