Dear Somu it's not that pointing you I just don't want lot people to miss guide with the concept because lot people are following you the concept of backcross is blunder mistake you never backcross with one of the of spring better use a word trait or traits backcross is mainly for introducing a trait of interest from a donor to recurrent parent it's would better if you explain with this concept. I really appreciate your work keep doing.
Why do we get only the desirable qualities in Hybrid that you explained in First case. There is equal chance of getting Undesirable qualities too in that F1 hybrid.
Yes there are chances and they do appear after first cross but here selection is occurring at every step ...after first cross we will take our desirable quality plant for further crossing
I have been watching this helpful video several times. thank you Dr. Shamous. Can you please explain haploid and diploid and their importance of plant breeding. I asked my supervisor but did not understand from him well
Very good teacher. Thank you. The only thing I'm having a bit of trouble understanding is why do we "backcross"? What happens during that process? If anyone can answer this, I would appreciate it, thanks.
Thank you it is really a useful and informative. I am a student so, i want to learn more about some selections if you could help us about following: mass selection, recurrent selection, synthetic cultivar , pure line selection, pedigree breeding , bulk population and backcross breeding, it will be really your help to us, thanks.
hi can you please explain the concept of plant breeding like pure line selection, mutation breeding, recurrent selection A LINE,B LINE etc will be very helpful thanks..for your lectures they are great
In 4 - 6 mins. you talked about the characters of hybrid rice like long-g, v-less, v-dt, then what about the oppsite characters that is dominant in both parents. Because the opposite characters are dominant in parents. Then what happens to them in the hybrid or f1 gen. Isn't it possible that opposite characters might be dominant in f1 or hybrid??
