I been hanging paper for over 40 years. As a professional there are things that are necessary to do, like overlapping the paper it’s more work that doesn’t need to be done and if you don’t hold that razor straight while doing that you will see spots in the seems. Just butt the edges up. . You should always with out a doubt start with a plumb line at every wall if doing the whole room. You should always use a straight edge with a straight razor in a straight razor handle to cut edges, ceiling, baseboard, windows and door frames. And turn your plastic blade the other way when smoothing out it out. If there I slight bump on wall doing it your way you will rip the paper. I do realize you are not professional but maybe these tips will help you or others.
The way you explained is how my journeyman taught me. Single edged razor blazed. Razors and box knives can damage the drywall. Straight edge plumb line.
If I'm doing a whole room and come to a corner, do I work it into the crease (as he did) and continue the piece onto the next wall? Or do you cut and overlap two distinct strips/sections slightly (one from each side)?
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much for demonstrating how the wall looks after you peel off wallpaper. It gives me more confidence to go ahead and try it out!!
This was a great video… right to the point, demonstrations matched audio, you only talked about relevant content and you addressed hiccups that could happen. Can’t wait for my DIY❤
Heads up to anyone attempting this nowadays - if you want long continuous uninterrupted strips, do NOT measure by sq footage. While technically there may be enough on the rolls for full coverage, what you're going to end up with is pieces that are cut up half way down the wall. Please instead find out how many continuous floor to ceiling strips you can get out of one roll (you may end up discarding 4-5ft). Then divide the width of the wall by the width of one roll to see how many continuous strips you'll need. If you don't do it this way, it's going to look patchy, and that's the last thing you want with contact wallpaper.
Assuming you've had this on the wall for some time now, can you advise if peeling the wallpaper still doesn't damage the walls? Sometimes these adhesives are peelable right after but after some time it peels the paint off the wall. Is that Ur experience?
Thanks, now I have confidence to do this myself instead of waiting around until my husband finds time to do it!🙌🏽 And ironically, your wife picked the same exact peel & stick I ordered.♥️😀
You went over and beyond with details. Man so glad I watched. Now I know what I'm doing. Had no clue to calculate Sq ft. No clue to look for Sq ft calculation when buying the wallpaper. Man thank you so much! I now have confidence because I had no clue what I was doing when shopping for wallpaper. Thank you for the video. New subbie.
Thank you for adding time stamps below video. A time suck for you but super helpful for the viewer needing to review a section while doing a project. Your instructions are fantastic and videos the best for DIY
Good video and helpful to see the process. Nice work, too. Although once I saw the finished wall it gave me some anxiety. It’s not the most soothing thing to look at.
The only thing to note, That with time most peel and stick wall papers will become increasingly difficult to remove and could damage walls. The longer the adhesive is on the wall the more damage it could cause. Try putting wall papper covering over high quality painted walls and try to remove to change the wall paper after 1 year to reduce any possible damage that can be caused to drywall
You made this look extremely easy. I am not handy enough to do on my own, but it is a great option to switch up the look in a room quickly with no fuss. Curious to know how long it lasts, though. I'm sick of my painted walls, too easy to mar and gets dirty quickly.
I have two videos on my channel going over 2 different styles of wallpaper. I have not had an issue with either one of them! If you’re worried about it getting dirty, they can be washed off with a wet washcloth very easily! The only down side is if you do end up hitting the wall and you make a dent. It would be very difficult to repair because you would have to replace the whole row of wallpaper in order for it to look like it did before!
I’m a paper hanger and my customer wanted an entire foyer papered with this kind of paper. And up The stairs. I think this paper is mainly for accent walls. Huge challenge to match corners
It is surprisingly simple if you take your time. We used this same paper (in blue) as an accent wall in our closet, having never hung paper before, and by following the steps on here we were able to hang it, and make it look great.
i'm going to be doing this to all of my bedroom walls and this vid helps a ton!! you explained everything extremely well and i'm someone that gets easily confused but i understood every step. thanks!
Thank you so much for the bonus tips! It really comes down to the details of these tips, otherwise you get suck DIY-ing these small projects. I ordered some stickers for my rental suite, finally I can use these tips to stick them on. Love this video!
@@EdinaViensBreakthroughCoach I was going to ask same thing. Because I did a test patch inside a closet and it ripped the paint right off but only in the sections where drywall putty was under the paint. So I’m curious though if this wallpaper is less sticky that contact paper…
Thanks for this video showed us what we needed to know and hepled with details and wasnt a bunch of stuff that we didnt need to see. I am going to get my Peel and Stick Wall Paper now
I used peel n stick on our pantry shelves & I wish I would have applied it BEFORE installing the shelves. I was wondering about the textured walls with paint on them, some brands say the wall ca t be painted/ textured?! Thanks for sharing great video.
Great video! Just one question, I have spots that are coming loose on the outer edge. I go over it with the scraper but after awhile it is loose again. Is it ok to glue? If so what would you recommend? Thanks
You can glue it if you want, just know it might not come off well. You can probably use the same glue that little kids use in school. You know those purple and orange glue sticks? I think that would work! Or you can use maybe a double sided sticky tape! It’s up to you!
Will it stick to a wall which is not smooth. I mean no wall putty applied just concrete plaster and distemper applied. Will the wallpaper stick to an uneven coarse wall
Wow thats one of the most nicest comments I have gotten! Thank you! That just made my day! Your are a good person, I hope life is treating you well. Keep it up! 🙂

its fairly easy to remove with a heat gun or hair dryer, it’ll soften the adhesive so it won’t pull the paper off the drywall

Too anyone QUESTION??? My putty knife scraper is metal does that matter? I’ve never hung wall paper before✌🏼
I would just be careful with metal ones because it might tear the wallpaper easier!
I can’t get the strips straight and even, but the overlapping was a good idea I didn’t think of.

Thanks I actually ordered this exact wallpaper lol. But mines thick like vinyl?
Will this be ok in my bathroom with a shower? I’ve heard mixed things on how it lasts near showers.

Probably a couple hours for the first go around!
Will it stick to a wall which is not smooth. I mean no wall putty applied just concrete plaster and distemper applied. Will the wallpaper stick to an uneven coarse wall
Would you recommend putting peel and stick directly on to drywall?
Does it become loose after a while? Or remains intact for extended amount of time?

Do you have to remove a bathroom mirror or could you paper around it?
I always over lap by an inch then double cut down the middle of the lap. Makes for a perfect line where both wallpapers meet.

Overlapping by 1/4” seems to make sense when the pattern has a line on the edge but won’t the edge be obvious if the pattern is a solid color?
How would this work on wood? Or like cabinets?
Headed to try this right now.
Will this stick on textured walls? The ones they use in houses now?
Looks easy enough, thanks. Please grab a sharpie and match the outlet cover plate
Do you have to put anything over the top of the paper? Or just peeling the bag off and scrape as you go?
