Looks awesome! Love it. Good to hear you are reinvigorated about the project! Like you said, sometimes just focusing on a new area of the car clears your mind of previous stressors.
Thank you! Hopefully getting back into diagnosing leaks the weekend 🤞🏼
@@AutoAutopsy These cars seldom leak...where is the leak on yours. Maybe I can point you in the right direction.
Is yours at the front (as installed) or back of engine?
NICE! Looks stunning.
Nothing looks better on a 900 than the SPG 900 airflow kit.
I sense a whaletail or porsche tail in it's near future?
That and a set of 9000 Aero 3 spoke flatspoke (dished) rims, louvers and your done. I know your not a fan of the louvers, but maybe you'll eventually give in to the mullet-era saabs darkside with us? XD
The wider track of those rims will also be a pleasant surprise in handling.
lol, thanks. Yeah I’d love a set of the deep dish wheels! An actual airflow kit would be awesome too, especially if it’s lowered a bit!
I have all the spg stuff from an 87 spg . I hit an elk at 75. The roof got ripped back ,but the rest of the car is good.
sorry to hear :(
Foam behind the bars is tricky because it will be soaking wet. The original SPG-Kit has plastic stripes between the alloy rails and the paint. And the corner panels are not slightly different, they are much different and go far deeper than the std ones, so go and find the missing corner parts ;-)
I could really use a tutorial on how to replace the belts on a C900. Do you have something like this?
I don’t, but it’s pretty straight forward. Each belt has a tensioner that needs to be loosened. After that, they just slide off
@@AutoAutopsy The mechanics at two shops took one look at the backwards mounted Triumph engine and said "uh, try somewhere else?"
I'd buy the Bentley manual but it's more than $250 in Canada.
I appreciate your patience with the 900 and it's leaks.
My almost 16 year old son found an 86 900 Turbo that had been off the road for 5 years or so. We got it cheap, $500, and it has an Airflow kit on it which is really cool but the plastic is super thin. There is some repair we have to to and then repaint it, hopefully it comes out looking good.
Awesome find. Best of luck
BUT, YOUR front and rear bumper extensions (the other four panels of the 10 panel SPG kit) are not on yet, so it doesn't look like a finished SPG kit to the trained eye, of course. Yeah the color is great/ and the contrast. probably should keep malachite if you ever repaint it.
Yes, I’m aware the bumper extensions are different; however, they look similar and that’s good enough for me for now! 👍🏼😁
Wow! If looks could kill? It's amazing the difference the Aero kit makes. There's not much to do now. Maybe some Aero ( SPK ) springs and then the paint. The Aero springs are 25mm lower in the front and 15mm in the rear. Improves handling. And from memory I think the front and rear stabilizer bars are thicker. When this project is finnished you should get a trophy from the Saab club! Cheers from downunder.
thanks! it still needs a lot of work, trust me! lol
Looks great, but a project suggestion...maybe vinyl wrap the car in a bright color? Yellow, red, something like that
Hmm cool idea! Definitely could consider it, although I love the current color
I picked up a 2008 Saab 9-3, with the 2.0L turbocharged 4 banger. I was really curious on where to find after market parts?
It depends on the part: th-cam.com/video/bjV78gxPoKw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aulhOA1Ic6RWj7jF
Hi, I have a Saab 9-3 TTID 2008 and my car started losing acceleration because the particle filter is at 93% or 97% and i don't have anywhere where I can clean it, what to do?
Try posting on some Saab Facebook groups for assistance. I am not familiar with the diesels at all
Obviously, I’m a huge huge fan, and I absolutely love your channel, and I know it’s just me being annoyed. But I’ve never been a huge fan when people put SPG bodykits/SPG things on non SPG 900s. Just because the people didn’t buy the SPG, and therefore don’t fully deserve it.
But you’re not the original owner, so it’s understandable.
But nevertheless, it looks amazing, and you did a great job installing it. Looking forward to seeing more content on the 900!
I agree! Also original SPG's have lowered suspension, also aero style front and rear side skirts (right beside front and rear bumpers) and thickened wheel arch moldings
Thanks for the support. I guess I can understand that, but like you said, I’m about four owners later haha. I have lots more planned with the car, so I’ll be having more videos out soon with other repairs and upgrades 👍🏼😁
@@Lamster66 Fair enough. Agree with that last statement!
I might be mistaken, but didn't the SPG bodykit also come with thicker wheel well flares to fill in that gap between the flares and the kit? Looks great! Butyl tape would also work well in place of the weatherstripping.
Yep, the SPG kit did! Thanks for the advice
I'm glad they worked out for you ! Looks good.
(I do have another set if someone asks)
Thanks! Surprised no one has taken you up on that yet
You should add some music to the your videos because it feels kinda empty without it
I definitely need to get back to doing that. Thanks for the suggestion
I really love this car but it's not simple to find a cheap one here in Italy.
Unfortunately they are getting harder and harder to find :(
Perhaps I missed it. Is there not a weather strip that runs along the top edge of the panel, placed between the metal and the panel? My 91 SPG has it and I see that it is sold on-line by Saabits and others.
Are you referring to the weatherstripping/rubber at the 8:00 mark or 21:00 mark? I believe you’re referring to the 21:00 mark. If so, yes - there’s weatherstripping between the plastic panel and the actual body of the car
@@AutoAutopsy The foam strips are different from the weather seal ones that you will see on the Saabits site. They are not foam and are sort of Y-shaped. When installed, you can see they form a seal along the tops of the panels.
Nice work...keep your eyes open for the fender flares to complete the look!! 👌
Definitely 👍🏼
I was about to write the same but you beat me to it.
Honestly it's heavy looking and a lot of plastic. Kinda liked it before.
It’s about 10-15 pounds for the whole kit
@@AutoAutopsy meant visually, not physically.
塑料要先喷底漆,再喷色漆,不然时间长了容易掉色
Yes, it was sprayed with primer first and then the actual paint 👍🏼
Good job! I did this job about 10 years ago on my CE convertible and foundation it very helpfull to heat the panels from the back Just before applying them. So much easier, especially with the edges.
Also it could be helpfull to heat the panel before spraying to achieve a better attachment of the paint! Do not use primer other than to fill minor imperfections. When the panels are nearly perfect after sanding, use a plastic primer only I would recomment. I did mine 10 years ago and it still looks new. Good Lucky everyone!
Nice! Heating the panels is a great idea - I’m sure it would’ve made it easier to slide/pull them over the arches
Hello,
Thank you for a good video. Nice with useful tips & tricks to install the aero kit.
Keep up the good work! :)
Hey, thanks! :)
The car looks great! My 91 has the same moldings. Plus I bought the "Build It Better" t-shirt. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the support! I really really appreciate that
Its begging for a whale tail
Oh definitely
Nice job there young man.
I did that on my 1985 back in 92. It is a lot of work but it completely transforms the car.
A good tip is to use a bit of teflon spray on the upper edge seal, where the panels come in contact with the body.
It allows the panels to slide a bit easier.
Right on - good tip!
Sweeeeeet

What’s a fair price for this body kit in your opinion?
I’d say, assuming they’re in good condition and have all of the rails, anywhere in the $400-800 range is fair for middle 6 panels (like what I got). They’re definitely going up in value for sure, unfortunately
I found a spg kit that has 10 panels plus the railings. I could get it for about $2,000 but that is steep
Great addition. Very satisfying!! Congratulations on such a fantastic transformation!!
Thank you!
Lol I knew you would
😬😂
Something about a Saab 900 2 door. Looks great man.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
awesome work! Where were you able to find the spg kit?
I bought it second hand. They’re a bit hard to find unfortunately
Cracking job. Well done 👌👍😊
Thanks 👍
That Looks SLAMMIN! Good JOB!
Thanks 👍
Sweeeeeet. That was pretty involved.
Definitely not simple, but doable!
Great video nice job
Thanks!
