It would have been better to introduce this product at a lower price with the knowledge that it would go up to a certain price when the firmware was complete. This would have created hot sales with everybody on the same page on what to expect. People are paying top dollar for a product they cannot fully utilize at this point.
Great discussion, thanks Alex to put it together; and specially to tie laces among different sides of the drone community. Huge shout out to Young, Russ, Tarsicio and Billy! (Let's do it again)
One thing I've learned out of this whole M3 debacle is that I will be taking ZERO notice of TH-cam "influencers" in future. They are far too concerned about pleasing DJI than giving honest answers. If I shook hands with most of these people I would be counting my fingers afterwards
DJI really doesn't seem to accept the slightest critique or you fall out of their preferred influencer pools. All the people I trust had to get theirs afterwards, despite being very strong DJI promoters in the past. But they also offered an honest opinion and hoped for DJI to listen an improve... and got banned as a result. A management that chooses to censor instead of listening slowly diverges from their target group... and the M3 or Action 2 are really good examples of that already happening strongly. What a rushed and badly executed multi-launch that was...
You’re 100% right Chris, if one of these influencers gets the drone before it is released from DJI, then that generally means they are expected to give a good review and that’s what’s deceiving, let’s face it, these are not reviews, they are paid infomercials
Which is the only logical explanation how you are able to push off an inferior picture in refinement and detail, plagued with incredible color noise as the best in class. DJI has a well oiled PR machine, I´ll give them that. But I won´t give them any more money.
You right they are always backup dji for support them later. I never trust them. specially that billy kyle. He always licking dji ass. I don't like him at all.
I have a P4P for almost 5 years. Only thing I've added was the DJI HDMI module (few bucks), Polar Pro ND filters and a Hoodman sunshade for an iPad mini 4. RC has 2 wheels, C1 and C2 buttons. I remember once I was flying directly against the wind but in the map it was flying slowly ahead the wind. From Airdata I saw that the wind was 72Km/h. Not big issue, I descended from 100m and the wind was not that high. I had upgraded it from P1, P2 and P3P since 2013. I always went happy with new features and improvements. Now it is time to upgrade to M3 but I don't have the same feelings: No second wheel, no C1 and C2 useful buttons, no SDK, no posibility to add HDMI port (M3 std combo). Well, I remember people complaining when Apple removed the 3 1/2 floppy disk slot in their desktop and laptop computers. There were other new options. Is it the same here? Mmmm, more taps on screen or maybe spend another $1000+ for a RC Pro. The Fly app doesn't show which frequency is the RC using. Not sure but it seems that there's only one option: see the compass or the map, not both like in GO4, again tap and tap. Larger sensor and Hasselblad image quality, tele lens, longer fly time and its awesome stability are great and welcome but, I repeat, I have mixed feelings this time Thanks for your video.
Even though the Mavic 3 doesn’t give me the same sense of confidence previous drones have given me when flying I totally love mine. It has completely changed my night time videos. I film cruise ships on departure and with daylight savings coming to an end all these ships depart at sunset or night. Some of my videos wouldn’t have been posible to film with my Air 2, at least not with the same quality.
Russ was on target for the question. 1. The FLY APP sucks for a drone with such advanced capabilities. The app needs Go4 functionally. 2.The M3 controller is anemic for a drone with such advanced capabilities. It's missing dual wheels, C1 and C2 buttons, and the 5 way button that comes with the M2P. 3. The firmware and app software was incomplete when released, shame on DJI. I expect an M3 PRO will be released next year with a good controller (hopefully an 8" display 1500nit smart controller) with all the bells and whistles, a good app (Go4 is acceptable), and everything MUST be working. For now I'm OK with my M2 and A2S until DJI gets their act together. I'll buy one when they offer my definition of an M3P with their goggles working with it. DJI really missed the mark this time, IMHO.
Agree. Russ nailed several major concerns, and you by extenson. The cost saving but poorly considered pairings of RC-N1 & DJI Fly app, considering the target customer was incredibly short sighted. DJI can and will bring software up to task, and do a proper Fly More w/RC Pro (saving $ swapping out N1) DJI isn't trying to build "your definition of M3P", but surely something like it. Saving the "Pro" designation allows space to move M3 even further upmarket. DJI is reporting financial woes. With 70%+ of a massive growth, multi-billion dollar industry, Poorly matched financial planning, huge ego's shouting down smart people; Naivete? Rising too far, too fast? A combination of such things, it's hard to know, but if profitability & growth requires soaking your most loyal customer base, your digging deeper into the pit of shame. What do I know... I'm just pondering - like you, and like Russ, I don't make decisions for a multi-billion dollar company. If I WERE, I'd fix the M3, if nothing else.
Thanks everyone, well done! The mavic 3 instantly put a smile on my face the first time I flew it. It’s rock steady and maneuvers with instant response. Though I did get a little lag while taking pictures, I was only a very short distance away.
I’m sending back the Marvic 3 I purchased a week ago because of manufacturing fault, it caused the drone lost control in the air and body rolling which scared me a lot as I was flying over the city centre. Even the drone at the end corrected its attitude and landed safely afterwards, but still the out of control 20 seconds has killed my interest in this unfinished product. In my opinion it is unethical to launch such a product before getting everything ready.
Accurate. Some channels have blown up so much because of creating reptivitive deep dives just on the menus and how to use a drone. Honestly, it's ridiculous.
@@J2onton Which is allowed for A2CofC users to operate when having appropriate permissions. I had operated over the Big Ben and St Pauls Cathedral too, permitted by CAA&Metropolitan Police :)
For me the mft sensor (twice as big as the 1inch), the extra tele camera, longer flight time, improved tracking, better RTH, less sound pitch, higher bit rate, higher bit depth, better colors etc legits the price difference. That 1k price difference compared to air2s/m2p feels like a bargain to me.
I have a mavic2 pro and a Mavic 2 Zoom for the same price. And was hoping this would be both combined. The app is horrible. This was rushed. I'll buy again when it's ready.
Mavic 3 footage has been to soft and had terrible colors from what I'm seeing on my drone and others videos. Don't think the zoom camera is worth it, extra price for a camera that only has good quality at 5x zoom. You don't know if the tracking is better as it still hasn't been unlocked RTH is only a four inch upgrade which isn't that noticeable when on good sized areas
Furthermore the battery isn't getting to its full potential plus your paying 400 dollars for a Tele camera that won't be uses and as I said before bad quality
@@ipant1056 You may have a bad one mate, for me the colours are leagues ahead of M2Pro and sharpness is on point. Forget the Tele lens, it's not useable but I knew that before I bought. 'm selling my I2 with X7 cos I won't need it now.
Russ said it best. Unfinished and running on a hobbyist app. Not pro at all. A lot of the comments point out that Russ seemed to be the most honest and Billy,Billy ,Billy ,Billy. DJIs little prince couldn’t say a bad word about them go figure. Alex great idea but influencers shouldn’t be trusted.
It is not hated it is haf-baked with crap lens on it. And super expensive. Cheaper drones film better. There are better fish on the market for less with better video quality in details. Over price product that does less. Remember you are buying a flying camera is the Mavic 3 has a crap lens, that's why the video quality looks like an up-converted 1080p.
@@ChristiaanRoest79 It is super expensive and the footage is not that great comparing to the Evo 2 Pro 6k. A 2 years old drone has more image definition. Meaning the Mavic 3 has a crap lens or when they converts the voltage to digital a tons of data is lost. That's why the image quality of the Mavic 3 looks like a 1080p up-converted. Also, the drone is super fragile. Drop ones and say good buy. And the replacement is more expensive than the best drone that films better. Just crazy! and the power of marketing makes people buy any crap they do. All these guys are playing safe! Professional don't care much about sensor sizes and yes about the lens and what video definition it can records. No one is talking about that it lacks on video definition in witch is the most important part of any video or photo. This drone should not have being priced over $1800 today for what it does. Better fish on the market for less.
That's what I've been telling my friends. I just sold my Mavic 3 on ebay. The m43 camera with a tiny weenie lens?!? Artifacts and blur with trees and foliage.
@@ricr.4669 Cheap Marketing makes people buy crap. And those that gets free drones for reviews will always say that shitty products are always shinny and amazing. Glad you did that! Wait for the next drones to come out from other brands.
I got my M3 a couple weeks ago, did the usual updates, did some short test flights around home and then did one 20 minutes flight without any issues, Next flight, lasted for 10 minutes, I was pulling the drone back to me, it was some 25 meters away, 60 mts high, suddenly it disconected from the app that asked to bind the drone. It did not came back to home point and at a moment just fell from the sky, turning belly up and completelly destroyed ... there is something very wrong with this expensive drone! Now waiting for DJI veredict ...
Hi, You guys forgot many things about the mavic 3 package. 1- price way too high, why, in the combo, they added a $300 bag that I don’t like and it should had been an accessory. 2- controler for mini-2 with fly app which is far less customizable versus go 4 app. 3- for the price they should had make a similar controler as the m2pro with a screen on it. 4- for the price, the internal memory should be 128GB, not 8. 5- the zoom camera is not very usable with no control on the camera. 6- many people post that the fly time is way less then ~46min and more comparable to m2pro. 7- obstacles avoidance need a serious upgrade to be worth it, too manycrashes reported. 7- Autel drones are now better vs DJI, for camera, fly time and overall package. 8- we will see with the nano+ in few weeks and the evo 3 coming soon.
The is no "Prosumer" category on DJI's website. TH-camrs made that up. :p There is only Consumer, Professional, and Enterprise. Mavic 3 is a Consumer drone, as listed on DJI's website.
I'm so tired of people kissing the *** of DJI because they're afraid they won't get any free stuff anymore. This drone is absolutely the hugest mistake any drone company has ever made so people stop trying to find the two good things about this drone because there are 50 horrible things and DJI should be ashamed of themselves. Not one single person on this video is even close to being angry enough because they're so scared they won't get the next big free drone. 90% of my drones are DJI and I wouldn't dare spend a penny on the Mavic 3 and I wouldn't buy it if it was $200. Would you buy a car that only had two tires and a promise of two more in a few months? Would you buy a car that could only make right hand turns? Would you buy a drone that is twice as much as the Mavic 2 but has half of the bells and whistles? You have to be kidding me, what a let down DJI you need to look at your situation internally because there are some really messed up people working for you because there was somebody who made the decision to release an unfinished product for twice as much as it's previous version. Shame on you DJI just looking to make a few dollars and shame on all of the commentators for not being angry enough! you are either not angry because you got the drone for free or you will just write it off as a business expense and have a nice paperweight
Billy can’t really answer the question. Regardless, DJI’s decision to rush the Mavic 3 for the holidays was terrible. If it’s a drone made for a professional, rushing it for Christmas was illogical. How many parents are going to buy their 10 year old kid a $2-5K drone for Christmas. The real professionals that will use this drone would likely wanted to wait for a finished product.
Good video Alex, but I feel that the contributors are holding back a little due to their affiliations with dji and are not totally impartial with their comments. The name of this drone is simply the Mavic 3, no mention of the word Pro anywhere and marketed very much at the consumer market. The price would indicate that this is a Pro level drone and with a cine model similarly priced to the Inspire 2, you would think so, right? But sadly, some of it’s features are anything but pro! The drone uses the dji fly app which is a serious mistake. dji have mentioned that they have no intention of adding waypoints to the firmware, which most would agree is a pro tool and this is a serious failure which I think will come back and haunt them later on. The next biggest mistake was releasing this drone before it was finished and fully tested! It wasn’t launched for Black Friday as they never discount their latest drones and my guess it was released ahead of CES which takes place in early January, with the aim of having some of the missing firmware and functionality added by then. And finally the drone was overpriced compared to its predecessor and it seems that this was deliberately done for profit alone as no cost was involved in a new app or controller? But never before have I seen such negative comments from any dji drone release than I have with the Mavic 3. People are angry and have felt let down after paying a high price for an unfinished and under tested product. This has seriously damaged dji’s reputation and like one of your contributors mentions, Autel, could jump in and release something very special next year at a more realistic price that matches or beats the features of the Mavic 3! I think dji were under a great deal of pressure to release this drone from the noise online over the last year, but have simply jumped too soon! Technology is improving all the time and consumers of any experience level will always want the best specs that they can afford and with the cine version almost equally priced with the Inspire 2, expectations were much higher than the finished product. I fly dji drones and have never moved away from them, but held back with buying the Mavic 3 as I am not someone that has to have the latest tech on day one. I wait for others to review and test and then I make a decision whether to buy or not. And I won’t be buying this drone until early next year when all the firmware updates have been released and tested by the army of online testers on TH-cam.
Good video and a good idea I watched two of those other guys and I am going to try two other ones thanks. Also thanks for unraveling the mystery a little bit about the new drone on the block
For we the answer is yes and no. The biggest problems are the many functions disabled, and the battery that doesn't exceed 35 minutes. But the main camera is excellent, since the tele is just for volume, as it won't be used much. Apparently just to explore anyway.
@@ChristiaanRoest79 Cool. it will always have uses, but I think most consumers in general will prefer to stay in the main one, at least until they make it easier to access the 7x zoom. Maybe a button alternating between the two.
@@ChristiaanRoest79 the client paid you 3k not because of mavic 3 but likely because youre good in drone. you couldve used the air2s or mavic 2 pro and still got great footage for them. so its not the mavic 3 its you. unless the client specifically requested for mavic 3 be used, which is unlikely.
If they release a version without the stupid telephoto lens and the option to film in prores without the smart controller I’ll consider it. I’ve never skipped a mavic update but this is one time I will and yes I would definitely buy an autel if they come out with a micro 4/3 lens
I am a professional drone user and an owner of the ‘basic’ M3 and really pleased with most of the specs. The Price is not the issue as it is a prosumer drone on its own but, what I do expect from a prosumer drone at this price is A much better controller with more functionality and able to use the full 3+ as you get with the new smart controller A better app - DJI fly app is good for the Mini2 but does not provide enough customisation of the drone The huge difference between the claimed 46 minutes flight time against the 30 minutes I am getting. And of course launching without the full flying options and having to wait for an update. Interesting to see so many others are saying the same thing…
Its maybe me but i dont know why M3 owners are complaining about missing features and firmware. I already knew its missing firmware since launch day. People should have known that also. If they know it and still buy it its there problem.
Aloha esteemed panel. The Mav 3 flies farther, maintains a more reliable connection, is quieter, creates superb vid & stills. A more streamlined bag to put in my backpack for my airline travels would be preferable. Coupled w/my new Macbook Pro Max...its all magic!
Good info here. Fast forward 8ish months later to oct 2022. My first drone, Mavic 3. A 5 year old could fly it if i can. I'm 67 and within a few short test flights, without hesitation flew it 5000mts several times. Twice losing contact as i decreases altitude to observe a POI, the controller said drone returning home...i wasn't at all concerned. Each time it returned it landed within mm of home point. I've still to learn to use zoom so i can maintain max altitude at distance. Tottaly worth 4k with fly more. 40 mins still not long enough on one battery when doing distance flights here on private station. I'm learning on M3 and will be looking for a drone that can stay aloft an hour at least next year. So far I'm totally happy with M3, no faults so far.
Like the video! I hope to see more videos like that! The only weak point is the RC controller! With this price range, you expect much better one! Other problems, will be solved by software update soon!
Big question for us in Europe is whether the evo 3 will be under 900g. Even if it’s better and cheaper than the mavic 3 I wouldn’t buy it if it becomes obsolete in a year
I love the DJI Mavic 3. It will be an amazing drone once it’s had its update in January. I bought the Mavic 3 for my workflow now as I envisage it being in short supply in the New Year when everyone realises the potential of this drone. What I hate is the cheap crappy controller that is included with the basic and Fly More kits. Absolutely inexcusable by DJI to add this to their flag ship drone, very poor functionality for a prosumer drone, lacks quality and looks odd against the Mavic 3. DJI failed here massively. The least they could have done was make it look similar to the Mavic 3 in colour. The DJI Fly App is absolutely crap as well. DJI need to address this as a matter of urgency in my mind. Overall I can cope with the delay in firmware until January 2022, as long as the drone is safe to fly and not at risk of malfunction. I do However, feel that the current RC-N1 controller being included will bite DJI on the arse when potentially customers go to another brand such as Autel.
Some very valid points. Young360 spoke on my behalf, everything she said appeals to me as a low end user. Alex was on point, the drone is an awesome product DJI just took advantage of the sales season. If top end users are no longer content with DJI instead of crying about it just go and buy something else. Perhaps the excitement of a new toy was unwarranted in relation to need. How much does anyone really 'need' the MP3?
Great video. First time on your channel. One thing that everyone seems to be ignoring is the lack of waypoint missions. For that reason alone it ignores the more "industrial" use of a drone. For this reason, rhe Pro2 and Phantoms are still very relevant
I agree with MC.. I think the price point maps up with the drones capabilities. It encompasses all of the features of the DJI consumer drones and has a more powerful camera creating a new class of drone, prosumer. Yes, I think DJI could have sweetened the deal with the next level controller but that would’ve killed the marketing for the Cine. I also believe the DJI Go app will make its way to the Mavic 3.. Here’s the real issue; I don’t like that the drone is not getting at least 40 min of flight time in the best conditions ie. no wind or low wind.. I’m not going to complain about the firmware delay because we can choose to wait or not. Ultimately it is still the best Mavic on the market and when the firmware update is released we’ll be blown away. However, consider this, DJI just reset their line with Air being the consumer drones, Mavic being the entry level pro drones and Inspire and above being the upper echelon pro drones. Put it this way, why do you think the Air 2 and Airs 2s don’t have omnidirectional obstacle avoidance? Is a $1000.00 camera really a disposable toy? If the Air 2s had full obstacle avoidance even in the $1400 dollar range the Mavic 3 would be a non issue… The real problem is DJI is cramming these new price points down our throats!
Billy Kyle is a walking DJI ad! He would never give his real opinion out of fear of DJI would cut him off for new products like they did other TH-camrs…. Hearing him say the Mavic 3 is priced fairly is comical 🤣
Thanks for the good video. I now understand where the Mavic 3 fits into the market properly and can see who DJI are really aiming it at. Interesting to think what the Air2S replacement could be. 🤔
Well done Alex! I agree this colossal train wreck (in the Drone world) was caused by DJI wanting the M3 to be available for the holiday shopping season but it wasn't ready yet (poor execution DJI!) Since they clearly are pricing it at the professional level, who cares if it's out before Christmas??? I've been using my M3 for the past 2 weeks with mixed thoughts. It has better range than my M2Z, but it's missing so many features that are on my M2Z. Also, the green dot lens flare destroys the footage of some shots which can't be fixed without DJI replacing the lens.
Thanks for putting this together. No single reason, but a multitude of irritable reasons which you've all highlighted. If image is everything, why put a secondary camera which is does not sit in this category. As a combo owner its too soon to make an honest evaluation, however just like my school report said 'could've done much much better'
Amazing video. I upgraded to the Air 2S from the M2Z. Love my Air 2S! The M3 was out of my price range until the M3 Classic was released. A M3 drone with some reduces features was a good deal to me; as a weekend flier.
Considering upgrading from the mavic 2 Pro. I'm just waiting for January when they release all the new features. Then I think we'll get into some more in-depth reviews. Until then I'm good.
The Mavic 3 is the best and most powerful drone I have ever seen in my life with this size ! Absolutely professional! Highly priced but affordable for professionals due to the ultra-low price compared to the Inspire series, low weight, small size, more advanced artificial intelligence than before, and a fantastic camera with a relatively large size due to the size of the Mavic 3 itself. beginners and even those who use drones for fun should not think about Mavic 3 series!
Great Analysis from some real Pros! Indeed, they nailed most issues bringing on the hate. Attempting to classify (no easy task) here are the big hate drivers, in descending order from "Blazing murderous Rage, to "feeling rather miffed" -British accent required for effect: 1. Pricing 2. Pricing 3. Pricing 4. Expectations: "What no inter-stellar warp drive?" 5. RC-N1 Controller. An upgrade for the Mini series, a huge mismatch here. -5b. Bonus hate for no bundle swapping RC-N1 for RC Pro. Making us buy both controllers? Not cool. 6. Fly App. If not Go4 /New app, why not a "Pro Mode/Basic Mode" that turns on PRO SOFTWARE? 7. Missing, features. As Russ said: a few weeks, sure. A few MONTHS? Not piecemeal but all in one update? 8. When is a Zoom not a Zoom? When its feature-less, poorly integrated setup of e TELESCOPIC Prime Lens. 9. BUGS. Like falsing/ghosting of bottom wide angle sensors that cause un-commanded altitude climbing. 10. DEFECTS. I got: 50% Propellers had wavy edges, Muzzle (cover) strap not sewn through, separated, convertible, overengineered bag had a tumor in the lining, backpack rigging non-removable, heavy, bulky, no dedicated places for filters, charger, hub, cables, etc. Just big, flat pockets. Amazing concept, horrendous execution (and $330 USD sold separately, contributing to the $800 Fly More price over standalone drone. Feel free to pile on. DJI has enough fanboys/girls defending their honor, or lack therof. November 4, 2021. A date that will live in ignominy, namely DJI's ignominy. I got a vivid image on the day, not of Mavic 3 Engineering & Design team high fiving each other, but rather of the boardroom stakeholders, back-slapping, $ signs reflected in their greedy eyes. Promise the world! Roll with what we have, we can finish it later, maybe. On a wider view, we see Autel's Engineers looking hopefully at the next quarter.
Evo II old version was in the range now of this Mavic 3. Why doesn't anyone talk about the Evo II and III drone when it's on sale, is it because of the marketing campaign? But he was far ahead in quality and little is known about it.
I've been a dji costumer since the phantom 3. I've been researching my next drone and even contemplating another brand but trust dji. They have proved me out of there company and have effectively pushed me to another company. I'm going with the Evo 2 pro.
I agree that the mavic 3 should of came with a better controller. I use my mavic 2 pro for real estate work and aerial photography. I just purchased the mavic 3 and just feel like its overpriced for what they gave me. I agree DJI released it to early but i am very exited to see what future updates will bring to this drone.
My M3 is absolutely horrible! It tried flying off 3 times and believe me it wasn’t pilot error! firmware updates over assistant 2 and I did multiple IMU/Compass calibrations and still having many issues!!!! I will be sending it back and hopefully they won’t send me another bad seed!! Oh those remote controls where sitting on the shelf so why not use Mini 2/Air2s/Air2 controllers with a Pro drone! That’s a smack in the face big time!!! even the Mavic Pro came with a nice controller. Ok now about that app DJI Fly What? Now we got slapped and kicked!!!!! DJI you done messed up this time!!! I’m so glad I still have my Evo II Pro 6k with Smart Controller! I could keep going but I’m out of breath! Lol
@@InteractiveDNA I make commercials and one job paid for it. I understand what you’re saying the Evo II Pro 6k is definitely a great drone but the M3 will be a absolutely amazing drone but I just got a bad one.
DJI did NOT manage expectations. They drove the hype and release date to the holiday consumer when this drone is priced like a used car. They falsely present it as a "Mavic" in produce name, website advertisement, controller, airframe design, and controlling application (app). People love surprises but this drone is not for the masses nor even the enthusiast based on the price. It is for the professional. Where does DJI keep "professional" equipment advertised? It keeps it in the Professional, Enterprise, Agricultural tabs of their website. Hind- sight 20/20, this drone should not have maintained the Mavic design and name. It should have been hyped as a "Professional" drone and given the proper accessories and new app functionality. Remove all blurry and indistinguishable product line (Inspire, Phantom, Mavic 2 Pro, Mini SE, Air 2) while keeping the Mini 2, Air 2S in the consumer line. Mavic 3 should have been delivered in two distinct models, 1)the current camera and a 2) a lens interchangeable version (thus dropping the Inspire line too).
The price , at least of a base version seems fair enough to me.I see that a lot of people argue that M3 is a prosumer, not a consumer drone.Again,fine.What I do not understand is that it comes with a practically the same controller as Mini and Air.How is that for a professional equipment?By the way the controller on MP2 is more capable in my opinion,it allows to do more without going to a touch screen. For someone who lives in Northeast and fly drones in a winter time it is a big deal as it allows to use controller without taking the gloves off as well as improve flying experience. The DJI fly app is also leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. There is no arguing that MP3 is a fantastic engeneering achievement and extremely capable drone but I am staying away from it for those deficiencies .
Really great video, and most (but not all - Billy Kyle) got it right. The drone is WAY too expensive, I own an Air 2S and that was too expensive. I subscribe to Billy’s channel because he does great reviews, but he seems to be obsessed with DJI, and to his remarks about it being priced right well the one he was describing was the $5k version, which is just stupidly priced. I’ve not seen anywhere where the M3 could handle the wind better than the Air 2 and to get some of the best quality from it you must get the M3Ceni ($5K). I’m not impressed with the M3 for that price and I will not be purchasing any more DJI drones unless the wise up and stop raping their customers! I would pay $2K for it and $2,300 for the Fly more, but even that seems high to me… Sorry for the rant…. Great Channel Alex!!
Agreed, get it right from the launch date, or don't release it all until it is 100% ready in all aspects of operation. Some really disappointed purchasers out there expecting a finished product, not a partial finished one. And pricing is OTT as it stands, until the issues are properly addressed.
This video was a great idea, poorly implemented. Not enough reviewers and comments seemed too politically correct, so as not to jeopardize their relationship w/DJI. However, I love this channel and DJI is currently the best thing going. So thanks for opening this conversation.
Nice compilation from a variety of TH-cam Drone Users.. I agree with the comments..I am on the fence on getting this drone.. Waiting to see what the Firmware update brings.. For now I am hanging on to my Mavic 2 Pro.. One thing that pisses me off, is that I shelled out the $$ fro the original Smart Controller.. I believe DJI could make this compatible with the new drone .. Come on DJI.. !!!!
One of the best outcomes from this video is how evident some of these TH-camrs tried to sugar-coating the awful truth,.. NOT reliable influencers after all,… Thank you Alex !
You are right about the most hated. Only certain folks would even consider this piece of hardware. DJI offers just about as much with less expense. After I experience one TH-cam about the DJI Mavic 3, that was more than enough.
Thank you very much Alex for hosting many points of view on the Mavic 3; all the opinions expressed on this footage are greatly appreciated. I'm an AIR 2S flyer, and I did not jump to buy the Mavic 3 but preferred to wait for the Mavic 3S (or the Air 2S Pro/Air 3) to be released - I'll upgrade first my MAC to the M2 chip when Apple releases it. I do not understand why the Mavic 3 has dual-lens, adding to its weight and price. The biggest advantage of the Mavic 3 is flying time, and if it had a single 4/3" lens it will be lighter, fly even longer, and be cheaper. In case of an accidental drop to the ground, the probability of damaging the Mavic 3 gimbal is a lot more than the AIR 2S because it is 150% heavier. The problem with the RC Pro smart controller is that its screen is smaller than my iPhone 12. I believe that the AIR 2S is the best quad released in 2021 in terms of quality features at an affordable price and that there will be future iterations of the Mavic 3 to make it more marketable.
In general, I feel like jumping ship from DJI all together mainly because of their geofencing. I already go through the process for approval from FAA, why do I need to do the same with DJI?
The price is absolutely appalling, the drone itself is nice but it is overshadowed by that consumer unfriendly price. The software stuff is also pretty unbecoming especially for some of us who dabble with gaming and have seen it over and over with publishers releasing unfinished products..bf2042, cyberpunk2077 etc
Based on the feedback and honestly, underwhelming video quality for the price increase despite the much bigger sensor, I ended up getting an Air 2S as a buddy to my Mavic 2 Pro. No regrets, except that the Air 2S is only a huge improvement on the video side. I like the colors on the Mavic 2 Pro more with pictures. There is something about the colors on the Air 2S that I can't fall in love. Time will tell if I end up with the Mavic 3, but $3000 for not much difference on small screens is not hugely motivating. The image quality differences are much bigger on paper.
Best Drone ever People are commenting on TH-cam how bad this drone is when they don’t even have it. I had my first flight yesterday and I’m in love. I use the iPad 12.9 and the remote if perfect for me. To pick on the colour of the remote it really just knit picking. Just watch in Jan when the firmware updates come out, everyone will be scrambling to get one and the next complaint will be why did DJI not make more. I don’t think it’s expensive, but I don’t drink I don’t smoke I don’t got on holidays to resorts. Expensive is only in the eyes of what you see as a priority. I use this purely for fun a hobby. Life is short live you life and have fun. Tomorrow may never arrive for many and you could be one of the many.
In my opinion the Mavic 3 is a drone for nobody. The standard version is too expensive and you don't get all of the potential from the camera without Prores. The remote control is too basic for a product like that, the tele lens could not be used together with wide angle lens cause the quality is too different (why did they put It?) and the zoom function is just crappy and useless for videographers. I think they could have avoided the tele lens and sold the drone at a lower price. APAS is not working well and most of the functions are not active... The smart RTH is dangerous, because It cannot detect wires. The Cine version is good, but not enough for making films at the highest level. I can't believe It took 3 years to develop only half of a drone. Mavic 2 was almost perfect when It was released, I can't understand this strategy and I think DJI will lose a lot of it's advantage. I also hope so, they need to come back to Earth and make good drones again.
@@lag3432 It would be a lot more valuable if it was more compatible with the main lens. The difference in quality between the two lenses is too high. Are you able to use them together in the same footage?
Just one question I’m curious about. Why all of you never mention the Mavic 2 Pro? I think it’s excellent in terms of photo and video quality. Am I delusional or something?
We are waiting for it. Mavic 3 is the best and it needs some updates to be the KING. The only problems are software as hardware is just fine. And DJI is also good in software ao they will fix everything. I think the Januarys firmware will fix all the problems and add the new features too.
Great discussion thanks very much for sharing the experience I hope next year the software update coming better so on my opinion DJI is the only company makes the difference and any competition I’m always use DJI thanks to Tarcisio and all Hispanic TH-cam people also all This people make this video god bless you thanks for everything you share
Why most hated. 1. Consumers are thinking it is for them when in fact, it is for professionals (or rich people who have deep pockets) 2. They cannot afford it 3. It is not ready in the current state. DJI felt too much pressure because Mavic 2 Pro is too old, too many people have sacrificed getting the Air2S to wait for this and also Christmas shopping.
After all the updates, and we Have a complete mavic 3 , the question I have is.... IF MONEY wasn't an issue, What drone do you want in your fleet??!! Do you really think the air 2S Is comparable??... having it on the fly app allows me consumer Joe with deep pockets to have the latest technology that dji has to offer! I think this all comes down to MONEY 💰 and dji is making plenty of it!!
Own the Mavic 3 and Air 2s. Even for pro work, I use the 2s most of the time. I like the Mavic 3 and for some jobs it is clearly the tool to use, but for most of what I do, the 3 is only marginally better than the 2s, yet twice the price. That's the problem!
If you look at it from a political standpoint, there was a time when the US suddenly banned DJI and accused the Chinese drone markets of spying and this had hampered the initial launch plans of the Mavic 3 that we were so dying to see being launched. I believe that that kind of blow to the company had repercussions on projected sales output and internal payments in their business plans, and they kept deferring the release dates. I think this was a factor for their unpreparedness and they managed the demands in staggered outputs… I’m also pretty sure that when DJI had procured the majority shares at Hasselblad, they must’ve had really big plans for the Mavic 3 and it’s successors. Anyways, I may be wrong to assume this but I bring it up because no one is really talking about this situation that DJI might have faced… I really really hope they come up with our favourite Go 4 app in its updated format soon with a future update. Thanks to all of the guys for their contribution for their verdicts as presented in this video.
Leave a thumb and set a reminder. We have some great people talking in this video! See you in the Premiere in a few hours!
It would have been better to introduce this product at a lower price with the knowledge that it would go up to a certain price when the firmware was complete. This would have created hot sales with everybody on the same page on what to expect. People are paying top dollar for a product they cannot fully utilize at this point.
This video is pointless Alex these reviewers will never give a honest opinion in fear that DJI will ban them from giving them first dibs on product.
Great discussion, thanks Alex to put it together; and specially to tie laces among different sides of the drone community. Huge shout out to Young, Russ, Tarsicio and Billy!
(Let's do it again)
Well said Jose. thanks for being part of it!
Chinese behavour... in politics and obviously in business as well. A pitty regarding their hightec products.
Thanks for opening up the discussion, Alex 🤓
thanks for being in it!
Larger sensor and Hasselblad image quality, tele lens, longer fly time and its awesome stability are great and welcome but, I repeat, I have mixed feelings this time
Thanks for your video.
Well said! I agree.
We need a go5 app
Hey i’m curious what your current thoughts are on the m3 postupdate, and what drone you would currently recommend ?
Money, profit talks... voc=voice of customer. Its get time to get professional alternative suppliers on market.
Agreed, everyone can see that it's not 100% as it is, without all the issues resolved.
Accurate. Some channels have blown up so much because of creating reptivitive deep dives just on the menus and how to use a drone. Honestly, it's ridiculous.
Flying over the city centre!
@@fz1wheelie may be a bad model, eithier way I'm trying to get a refund and go eithoer with m2 or air2s

Its not super expensive. 1k difference and over 10 improved specs compared to air2s/m2p. For me the 1k price difference feels like a bargain.

What is happening now?
Whoa.. Any updates?
Taking the whole glass half empty approach, people who hate the DJI Mavic 3 certainly see the glass as 12% empty. Lol
Hi,
You guys forgot many things about the mavic 3 package.
There is only Consumer, Professional, and Enterprise. Mavic 3 is a Consumer drone, as listed on DJI's website.
Such an interesting video, I love this new collaborations! Keep on doing it, it's nice to see all of you together ! 🔥
Nice initiative to invite all these nice people to talk on your channel. Congratulations and greetings from Brazil.
DJI should get rid of that 2nd telephoto camera and lower the price to around $1899.
Billy doesn't get the idea about hate 🙄
Doesn't want to fall out with DJI
Like Billy Kyle, apparently a DJI apologist .
The real professionals that will use this drone would likely wanted to wait for a finished product.
they're where obviously not ready to release it , but competition has put pressure on them
Good video Alex, but I feel that the contributors are holding back a little due to their affiliations with dji and are not totally impartial with their comments.
I think Autel Evo Lite plus is better choice right now
Dustin Dunhill flew his M3 nearly 9 miles then brought it all the way back with 0 battery power. The M3 is looking like an amazing bit of kit.
There no reason to hate it. Also no reason to buy it now.
Totally agreed!! Anyone who needs it will wait. Anyone who bought it and complained didn't need it they just wanted it.
Tele works great for me at 7x zoom. One of my clients paid me 3k to use it for some projects 🤣
@@ChristiaanRoest79 Cool. it will always have uses, but I think most consumers in general will prefer to stay in the main one, at least until they make it easier to access the 7x zoom. Maybe a button alternating between the two.

If they release a version without the stupid telephoto lens and the option to film in prores without the smart controller I’ll consider it. I’ve never skipped a mavic update but this is one time I will and yes I would definitely buy an autel if they come out with a micro 4/3 lens
The‘exploring’ tele lens is a nuisance
It’s a simple click of a button. I don’t understand the negative comments about it. It’s an additional feature
I am a professional drone user and an owner of the ‘basic’ M3 and really pleased with most of the specs. The Price is not the issue as it is a prosumer drone on its own but, what I do expect from a prosumer drone at this price is
A much better controller with more functionality and able to use the full 3+ as you get with the new smart controller
A better app - DJI fly app is good for the Mini2 but does not provide enough customisation of the drone
The huge difference between the claimed 46 minutes flight time against the 30 minutes I am getting.
And of course launching without the full flying options and having to wait for an update.
Interesting to see so many others are saying the same thing…
Great episode thank you!!!! I just took delivery of my Mavic 3.
Its maybe me but i dont know why M3 owners are complaining about missing features and firmware. I already knew its missing firmware since launch day. People should have known that also. If they know it and still buy it its there problem.
Let's be honest here. Nothing tops the GoPro Karma for most hated drone.
I’m think I will stick with the P4Pro 2.0, 3 lbs of beast in the sky
The M3 is definitely not a replacement for the Phantom 4 Pro. No global or mechanical shutter needed for what the P4P is so widely used for.
I fly the Phantom 4 pro v2 and the air 2s as well as the mavic pro 2. Agree why upgrade? I am happy with these drones.
Thank you so much to all that contributed. Amazing insight. Subscribed to all!!
Much appreciated!
Very good review for me I think the mini 2 and the Air 2 are sufficient until we see drones with the C mark for the U.K. and EU
After seeing a teardown video of the drone and all the internal parts. It maybe worth the money.
Retuned mine after 1 week and was very disappointed. Still loving the Air 2S
Watching hours of drone videos, this was great idea!
Are you able to do a review of the inspire 2
Thanks for putting this together. No single reason, but a multitude of irritable reasons which you've all highlighted. If image is everything, why put a secondary camera which is does not sit in this category. As a combo owner its too soon to make an honest evaluation, however just like my school report said 'could've done much much better'
i agree my friend. see u in the next live m8
Amazing video. I upgraded to the Air 2S from the M2Z. Love my Air 2S! The M3 was out of my price range until the M3 Classic was released. A M3 drone with some reduces features was a good deal to me; as a weekend flier.
With DJI since 2012, they always suffer in the firmware. I love their drones and will keep my MP2 just the way she is, perfect!
..many times released new Drone and firmware not fully developed for market use. I feel like testimonial for them. Thanks Jay 👍👍😁😁
Considering upgrading from the mavic 2 Pro. I'm just waiting for January when they release all the new features. Then I think we'll get into some more in-depth reviews. Until then I'm good.
just adding activetrack, hyperlapse and mastershots!
Dji go 4 was the best and is most suited for this drone
The Mavic 3 is the best and most powerful drone I have ever seen in my life with this size ! Absolutely professional! Highly priced but affordable for professionals due to the ultra-low price compared to the Inspire series, low weight, small size, more advanced artificial intelligence than before, and a fantastic camera with a relatively large size due to the size of the Mavic 3 itself. beginners and even those who use drones for fun should not think about Mavic 3 series!
If only the controller had buttons you could map functions to that you can do on the older drone. We need more functions not less.
Great Analysis from some real Pros! Indeed, they nailed most issues bringing on the hate. Attempting to classify (no easy task) here are the big hate drivers, in descending order from "Blazing murderous Rage, to "feeling rather miffed" -British accent required for effect:
1. Pricing
2. Pricing
3. Pricing
4. Expectations: "What no inter-stellar warp drive?"
Pros! 🤪
Billy Kyle always has the best and most lucid reviews and tutorials, one smart young man..
The price is laughable. They are ignoring an entire consumer base.
Thanks for sharing!
Lol
If you have the Evo 2 Pro 6K you don’t need anything else big. M3 is waist of money in so many levels, nothing more than that.
Billy repeats his content for each drone. If you can fly one dji drone you can fly any DJI drone. Mad props to him for capitalizing on that.
Loving the collaboration in this video - I watch all your channels individually, really nice to see you supporting each other like this 👍
Now is the perfect time for a competitor drone company to make the move.
One of the best outcomes from this video is how evident some of these TH-camrs tried to sugar-coating the awful truth,.. NOT reliable influencers after all,… Thank you Alex !
51 Drones hit it out the park. Perfect response!
You are right about the most hated. Only certain folks would even consider this piece of hardware. DJI offers just about as much with less expense. After I experience one TH-cam about the DJI Mavic 3, that was more than enough.
It's surprising to hear that it is most hated because it is so well-loved by people I know who actually have it.
Best Drone ever
People are commenting on TH-cam how bad this drone is when they don’t even have it.
Awesome, Awesome!!
Happy Flying!
Very wonderful opinions 👍🏽👍🏽
I love the zoom lens, it made the drone more valuable for me
@@lag3432 It would be a lot more valuable if it was more compatible with the main lens. The difference in quality between the two lenses is too high. Are you able to use them together in the same footage?
Just one question I’m curious about. Why all of you never mention the Mavic 2 Pro? I think it’s excellent in terms of photo and video quality. Am I delusional or something?
I’ve had issues with shacky hyperlapses (courselock) even when it’s not windy have exchanged so many times
We are waiting for it. Mavic 3 is the best and it needs some updates to be the KING. The only problems are software as hardware is just fine. And DJI is also good in software ao they will fix everything. I think the Januarys firmware will fix all the problems and add the new features too.
Buy one and you'll know the camera sucks. M43 camera with a lens the size of green pea. Crazy
@@ricr.4669 I never heard from anyone that the camera is not good
@@NICKs_HIGHTECH research my friend. Get your hands on one. These TH-camrs are salesmen.
DJI is good in SW??? First time I heard that. 😀 Their lack of attention to details is monumental.
1. Consumers are thinking it is for them when in fact, it is for professionals (or rich people who have deep pockets)
2. They cannot afford it
3. It is not ready in the current state. DJI felt too much pressure because Mavic 2 Pro is too old, too many people have sacrificed getting the Air2S to wait for this and also Christmas shopping.
Very useful video. Thank you.
Great premiere Alex ! 👏👏👏🤘🏻💥💥
thanks bro i hope you enjoyed!
I think the problem is the pricing. People expected more out of it because of the price point, at 2k or 3k for the bundle
Can you please do a video on how to go on Facebook live or TH-cam live with the mavic 3 using the RC Pro controller
Mini 2 during a sale is the best drone with all things considered. It has everything you actually use and it all works flawlessly.
That's the problem!
hey alex, what website or video editor do you get your sounds from?
Would love to see a Mavic 3 Pro later this year just like what happened to the Phantom 4
