    40mins of flight time is absolutely insane. After a month trying to learn fpv with 3-4 minutes of flight time and A LOT of crashes😂

    I got the Mavic 3 fly more comb (none cine version) with the normal controller. Upgraded from a Mini 2 and I'm absolutely astonished by the quality of footage. It matches up perfectly with my A7iii shots (sometimes looks even better). I'd love to have more control over the 7x lens tho. It's such a hard thing to have it on the drone, but not really being able to use it. The flight time is insane and made it so much more hassle free to use it!

    This came out two months after I picked up the Air 2s and I usually want the latest and greatest, but I was surprisingly not bummed about missing out on this one. In my eyes most of the footage I've seen from it doesn't warrant the almost £4000 price increase over the Air 2s.

    I got the m3 combo but bought the rcpro as well. I wish this was an option as a combo. No need to fumble with wires plus a bit more functionality without having to deal with your phone. Yes it’s expensive but I got over it when I didn’t have to mess with my phone etc.

    I’m happy with my Mavic air 2! Just actually made a video about why you need a drone! But I mean you don’t need a $5k drone! You can create great stuff with a cheaper alternative. Just as long as you focus on the right light and composition!

    The drone is expensive but lets put price aside. The option I need is FPV googles and Cell connection for uninterrupted connection. That is what needs to be addressed for the drone to be truly worth owning in compression to competition.

  • @rcraigmacrae
    @rcraigmacrae 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So my thought process is this. If I get the fly more combo you’re at $3000, then you add the RC Pro and you’re at $4200, if you’re already that deep what’s another $800 to get everything in one package with the extra goodies? Anywho I absolutely love this drone. Sold my Air 2S and I’m not disappointed at all. So yes, I’m an armature and I have a Cine, now working on Part 107.

    Thank you for the great review. Liked & subscribed. I’m using the M3 with RC Pro. The image quality, the stableness in control and the longer flight time are more than satisfied purchasing for me. I actually put my old M2P and the smart controller in my closet.

    I have the P3P and M2P with Crystalsky Ultra and love them both, the only thing stopping me upgrading to the M3 is the GPS lock time, I've seen YT reviews show over 5min to get a RTH GPS lock, this is not an option for filming whales when you only have a very small window to get them

  • @adnan_velic
    @adnan_velic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The biggest selling point of prores is being able to easily edit it on any computer. Yes there is a LITTLE more latitude in color grading but it’s not a big difference over H265. My m1 MacBook Air and iPad Pro EASILY edit h265. So overall paying an additional amount for a 1TB drive that you can’t take out and these massive file sizes just to get a little more flexibility in post is absolutely NOT worth it in my opinion. I have been using my mavic 3 standard, got an extra battery and smart controller plus 1 VND 16 by freewell and that’s all I need.

    If you consider the RC Pro controller and the extra filters, the cost difference between the regular and cine versions is really just $800, not the $2000 everyone says. So is it worth $800 for the 1TB drive and ability to shoot prores once in a while? I kinda think so.

    I bought the Mavic 3 non cine version and love it! I didn't need the ProRes option and the built in 1 TB storage. I have an Air 2s fly combo that came with the RC Pro controller. It was a great deal at $1749 considering that the fly more combo with the standard controller was $1299. For about $450 more you get the RC Pro which cost $1200 separately. And I can use the RC Pro on the Mavic 3 as well. But the Air 2s has really great video/picture quality as well.

I’m a newb. I guess I’d be paying that kinda money if he were in traveling sport programs, which he did at a younger age so why not invest in his passion. Only had it a couple weeks and wow. Picture quality, flight time, the controller, the smooth flight in cine mode, the distance. I do agree it would be great to not have to turn on the drone to get your data off the ssd.

    Why on earth didn't DJI put an optical zoom on that fantastic lens? Instead, they chose to put the zoom on that puny 12mp sensor. That makes no sense and is the difference between me buying the Mavic 3 or not. As a photographer, I was forced to purchase the Evo 2 Pro, which at least has an optical zoom on that amazing 1 inch sensor. There are things about the Mavic 3 that are spectacular, like the flight time, the main camera, and the flight characteristics, but at the end of the day the lack of a decent zoom keeps me from needing one.

    Great summary of the pro's/con's :) Quick feedback relating to the thumbnail, since you have been talking about your thumbnailgame in a couple of video's lately: I remembered that you had posted a video that showed up in my feed when I hadn't time to watch it (this video), and later today I went back to youtube in my browser and opened youtube, and clicked on "subscriptions" in my sidebar-menu to find the video again ... and I scrolled down in my feed for today, hit the "yesterday"-section and was kinda thinking "hmm, I'm sure that video was from today", scrolled back up, scrolled down again, just couldn't find it - so I scrolled up again, and slooooowly scrolled down again, looking at each and every thumbnail veeeery closely and reading the titles, and found it finally - and then it struck me, the picture of the drone and everything looks really good, as a picture, but the thumbnail sort of "drowned" in the feed, being surrounded by kinda similarly dark/moody thumbnails, and not really "popping" even though I was looking for it. So that might be something to think about regarding the thumbnail game, making the thumbnails pop a tiny bit more in some way or another, maybe not go all BIG COLORFUL BORDERS AND CRAZY TEXT, but figure out something that might both signify a "you"-video, but also looking at increasing contrast in a way that makes something in the image pop a bit more :)

    Hey bud, thanks so much for the awesome video. As Joe asked below: If I were to capture prores, edit on the timeline and export my edit from final cut as H265, would I lose the whole benefit of having prores in the first place? Does the extra quality in prores remain even though the final project is in H265? Meaning the whole benefit of prores is the extra editing power but not the quality in the end? Thanks again. I thought this question on another video and I thought it was a great question but it was never answered. I realize you said normal color looks great, and I agree. I also know it’s 10-bit even in normal color when working with Prores. Thanks again man, great stuff. And for taking the time to help out the beginners out here!

    • @AnimeZone247
      @AnimeZone247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it all depends. Starting off with something that gives you better detail will always be better than starting off with bad detail. You can get more detail out of h.265. You can always increase the bit rate to leave more data for your render. also with h.265 you can render it as 10bit 4:2:2

Personally as a Production Company owner at this specific moment is not worth the 5K when we are only flying a drone to do stablishing shots on a wedding. 5K for just barely 30 seconds of footage is not a good investment, again this is a great drone no argument there but I can still live with the quality of my Mavic 2 Pro if I ever need 5K which I don't then I would go for the 2S for other people this might be a great investment but not for my company, with 5K I can invest that amount in way more things that I will use on a regular rather than a Drone that I will flight 30 mins top to only use a few seconds of footage. Mavic 2 Pro D-log if you know what you are doing you can get pretty sick footage still in 2022..

I do not want to be forced into another investment in 2023. Unless business grows much faster than I currently project. Thanks for another great vid.

    Hi Peter ! Today, I have the Mavic 2 Pro, the question is : Do I need to buy the Mavic 3 Pro Cine ? What do you think about that ? ;p

  • @cuuppaajoe
    @cuuppaajoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well honestly where are we going to be showing this video other than TH-cam? The video coming out of the Mavic 3 is so incredible that it doesn’t need as much grading as some other drones. The 4/3 sensor is the star not the codec,. The log in the normal version is clearly good enough for incredible grading already. The cine adds hassle, money for hard drive space, ridiculous need to have a charged drone to offload all the footage, and the RC pro, which of course anyone can pick up on its own. This is not even a question for me. I think I would get the normal version even if they were the same price. Lol

    For me who lives in London, we can't fly shit here. The Mavic Mini 2 is good to fly here because it doesn't need Licence and you can only fly that out of London. So no.

    Excellent Review Video Peter. Thank You For Your Honesty. The Mavic 3 Is Way Over Priced. I Would Like To Have One, But I Can't Afford It. The Mavic 2 Pro Is Still An Excellent Drone Which DJI Did Right, Unlike The Mavic 3 Which DJI Has Done Wong Since It Came Out. DJI Is Going To Discover That The Sales For Mavic 3 Is Not Even Going To Come Close To The Sales They Had With The Mavic 2 Pro.

    I don’t get why the camera is not a click system with several primes and zoom options… it should be possible to optimize cameras with lens in this form factor and add functionality… even the business model of dji would habe a win costumers gearing up camera additions for their investment.

    Thank you for the video, I love your channel it is very knowledgeable and informative. Stupid question, if I were to capture 5K footage and export on a 4K timeline, would that be any better or different than capturing 4K initially? A little confused on what happens when we are not cropping and exporting on the 4K timeline after capturing 5.1. Thanks again.

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s more details in the final file! Biggest advantage is availability to crop in and reframe etc!

      @@PeterLindgren1 Thank you so much for the reply! I appreciate it. Now I just need to decide whether I should get the prores. I can’t exactly afford it. ;-) I’m sure you’re a lut will work beautifully on the d-log of the regular version as well for H265. 👍

    • @cuuppaajoe
      @cuuppaajoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK second stupid question. If I purchased the prores and had the money for it, but edited and exported a h265 file from Final Cut, do I lose the benefit from capturing in prores? Do I need to export in prores to keep the benefits of ProRes? Of course the benefit has to do with the editing but I would assume it has more detail in movement.
