But reality is that customers of these brands will not buy a Jeep and traditional Jeep customers will not buy such unreliable and pricey cars. Results is that Jeep is dying because they walked away from their own identity…
That's not true. I owned 2 Mercedes GLE's and a couple Lexus 450's. The value you get with the GC Summit/Summit Reserve is excellent. I decided to get a GC Summit Reserve mainly because the GLE is getting ridiculously pricey and I've had issues with them. Not so with the GC. Its been great so far (1 year in) and the air suspension and driver assist is fantastic. I take it up and back from Florida to Ohio.
The Jeep in this video is like an American Range Rover with all that luxury and tech, so $70k is an absolute bargain. Even so, they are discounting these things, so you can get them for much less than $70k
I have the 2024 summit reserve. Looks about the same. The power, and acceleration is fine. Sometimes driving up a steep hill with ac on, it lags a little bit. But mostly good enough. I'd love to see them come out with the new hurricane engine.
I have the 2024 Summit Reserve. Nothing has changed in the 2025. It looks exactly the same. I've had it for a year now and it's been spectacular. No issues whatsoever. I've owned 2 Mercedes GLE's and I like the GC Summit better. Its so smooth and quiet. The seats are more comfortable imo. If you want the air suspension on the GLE it's over $80k, closer to $85k. Ridiculous. This is my 2nd GC. I also had a 2019 Limited. It was very nice but the Summit and Summit Reserve are on a whole different level.
I own a 2022 GC - to many issues but the competition is way smaller than you mention - name me one, other than a Range Rover that is a real 4x4 and not just an AWD
This trim of the Grand Cherokee really needs that Hurricane 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine from the Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer to give it more performance. The 3.6L Pentastar probably isn't enough to move this heavy of an SUV, & the fact that you can get it so many Stellantis models doesn't help give it enough exclusivity when it's such a common engine. Other cars in this price bracket have more powerful engines without them being a V8
I have a 2024 Summit Reserve. Honestly the 3.6L has competent power and it has a 500 mile range per fill up. Let me tell you, its nice to not to have to be constantly filling it up. With that said, I would take a serious look at buying another one if they offered a Hemi or Hurricane just to feel the power. Its not really necessary but it would be a "nice to have" and a reason to upgrade.
@@treydrier3169 Since you have a 2024 Summit Reserve, did you lease it or buy it new or lightly used? How has your experience been with it so far, & how many miles does it have on it? Have you had to bring it to the dealer for any electronic issues?
@@CarsandTechInfo I bought it. It was around $63k. About 10k miles. No issues with the electronics (fingers crossed). I like it a lot. I've owned Lexus SUV's and two Mercedes GLE 350's. Hopefully it remains maintenance free. I will be driving it back down to Florida in a week.
The powertrain isn't as much of an issue as the pricing. I'm glad that Stellantis is adjusting their car prices, but they're still overpriced. Paying 70k for a fully loaded JGC seems excessive when you can get a BMW X3 or X5 for the same price with even more features

The luxed out Grand Cherokees are nice rides for way too much money. With the demise of the Hemi V-8 and rise of the six pot it becomes harder to sell the high MSRP ones. I won't deny that is a very nice vehicle, but I can't even replace my 2015 JGC with a new one in the same trim. But if I did have $70,000, I can tell you I wouldn't be buying a Jeep. Don't get me wrong, I still love my WK2, but there are better vehicles to have at 70K.
