I did go to Disney Quest and it was awesome but they could have done more with the building as it was super popular during the summer because Florida is hot and humid, so if your not sweating from the heat your hiding from the thunderstorms... it just sucks. Disney is getting greedy.
Rod Studios in Dubai, where I live, there’s a place called sega republic, it’s really big and has lots of rides and arcade machines and it’s very popular. Can you explain this please?

Sega World Sydney was actually really cool. That said, I do remember being there and thinking there was very few people in attendance. We never actually queued for any of the rides. Was obviously during the late 90s. Next time I returned to Sydney it was gone.
I remember seeing a little of Sega World in Sydney back in 1998, but didn't really have any interaction with it. I also remember it used to have a theme park called Wonderland, which was exactly like Dreamworld at the Gold Coast, except in Sydney and it had a Hanna Barbera section instead of a Nickelodeon section. That park has sadly closed down roughly the same time as Sega World in Sydney, while the best theme parks in Australia still remain up in the Gold Coast. The same place that will host the 2018 Commonwealth Games next year.
I never knew Sega World existed! I've been to Disney Quest once though. Didn't think they were competing with Sega, especially since I have seen the Sega consoles in Epcot at Disney World as a kid.
Went to Sega World Sydney in 1997, coughed up a fair chunk to get in only to find out that just about everything inside still cost and they charged like wounded bulls.
Yeah, I've only been to those Sega arcade buildings at Akibahara and Osaka recently. Other than that, I've never know Sega opened its own indoors theme parks before. Heck, it was quite rare to find an arcade in my country back then. Now in 2017, Ubisoft is going to open an indoor theme park in my home country. Fingers crossed.
Last time I went to the Trocadero centre there were a good 2 or 3 floors of just empty space, with very few arcade machines and games haphazardly arranged. It looked like it had been untouched for years. it was depressing as all shit. I'm surprised they haven't filled the ridiculous amount of space in with something else, especially since it's a major mall in central London. Didn't even know that it was Sega world until a little while after I visited, it was unrecognisable. It might have changed since though, I haven't been in a few years.
Okay after further research I found out the entire Trocadero centre closed a couple of years ago. It's a shame, they had decent areas and the dead Sega World was very interesting to me as someone who likes weird, obscure Sega/Sonic history. I can see why though, there were very few decent shops - it couldn't have been making much money.
I have been to the Sega Arcade in Japan you had in that picture which is in Akihabara. It was pretty cool. I really like the Initial D Arcade Machines. It is really tough to find a place that has them in America. I also went to Disney Quest in 2007 and 2014. By 2014 it had really gone down hill but I still had fun. Arcades still do well in Japan but they are dead pretty much everywhere else.
I've actually been to a Sega world, it was in Dubai tho and it wasn't even called Sega World, it was called Sega Republic. It had a lot of cool stuff like a roller coaster, and this game that is in REAL LIFE where you enter this neon green room and you have to dodge these red lasers, if you get hit by them you fail, just a loud beeping sound, that's it d: There was also bumper car's tho, just bumper car's, and other stuff like claw machines and stuff. But the real thing I wanna talk about is that.........They ACTUALLY HAD a thing were you could buy GE, Jawswearys, and TOMY Sonic toy's and plushy's, I got so many cool figures and plush's including a Shadow GE plush, Sonic, Super Sonic, and Shadow super posers, 3-inch figures from TOMY and Jawswearys, Silver GE plush, Super Sonic plush, 12-inch modern Sonic Jawswearys plush, Classic Sonic and Classic Tails plush, that's it. Done with the comment, thanks d: BTW, it's still open to this day in Dubai Mall d:
Okay, I just searched if it closed or not, and............It has.....WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ALL NONE JAPANEASE SEGA ARCADES/AMUSEMENT PARKS/ANY OTHER ONE OF THOSE TYPES OF THINGS ;-;
Last year I went to the Florida Disney Quest. Then a couple months later it closed, and I was sad. It is the same with Sega World. Except for China or Japan.
I work at this drive thru coffee place in Canada and i remember working one shift and this customer came through and payed with a segaworld token I didn't know about this place until i got ahold of that token (i took it btw) Sadly i lost it
Does ANYONE know the name of the Virtual Simulator 3D ride that was in the Sydney Sega World, where you had to race all these crazy characters in a real beat down underdog vehicle/ship ...and i remember there was a Black Widow character who was one of the racers you versed... and each ship/racer would destroy each other.. and you'd barely scrape through and win the race?? The alternate ride to that was some dinosaur island thing where you flew through and saw different awesome creatures i think...not sure if thats the Aqua Planet ride this video was mentioning? Farrrk me i'd give an arm to go on BOTH those rides again... o. O goooodtimes. awesome video mate and i have really Fond but Short memories of Sega World in Sydney. Still remember them awesome Sonic Coins that you used in the park.
sega world still exist, its known as Sega Republic in Dubai the worlds biggest and worst theme park Country. Its also a inside park in a mall with Arcades and a Ride with Sonic
you forgot to mention the alien war ride at trocadero! that was pretty awesome. i cant really remember what happened in the beast simulator but remember it scaring the hell outta me. the aqua planet ride was pretty impressive at the time, it wasn't 3D glasses but more like an early version of the newer 3D headsets. loved segaworld as a kid, still played some fighting games up there until around 2010 or so
Ahhh Yes Sega! i use to have the Master System, Master System II, The Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Dreamcast, Sega 32X Genesis Attachment Boy i was a Sega Fan!, that was Until i Played Super Nintendo and My Love Shifted! and then i Had the SNES, Game Cube, The 64, then Came Out The Sony Playstation and The Rest was History! ahahahhaha Until Xbox Came Out and then My Love Shifted once again and now im with Xbox!

Yup so did I. It was THE SHIT! And I was a Nintendo fanboy...
This is heartbreaking. I wish they still existed. :(

How rod studios entered the red ring of death
Just when I wanted to know more about this oddball attraction!
I wish so bad companies would still try these. At the risk of sounding old: "Damn these kids and their smartphones! Go to to a theme park would ya?"
This shit sounds lit af.

I do remember the Sega consoles in Epcot Innovations. I didn’t realize they were competitions considering they are very different businesses.
Why was Sega World was basically everywhere in the 90’s expect the U.S.
Cause fuck the US
There is still Joypolis.
actually the one in Sydney Australia is the main and most well known one.
I just remember these places as unlockable wallpapers in Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution
Been to both sega world Osaka Japan and Disney quest in Disney land and they both were some good times
I really loved the one in Sydney. The Rail Chase coaster was the best there IMO.
Even tho ive bever heard of sega world, im surprised there was one just down the road from home

¡Goddamn, that place looked like Pizza Planet with steroids! It's truly saddening that it ended that way. At least there is still the japanese ones.

I went to the one in Dubai back in 2013. It had lots of sonic colours branding
Last year I went to the Florida Disney Quest. Then a couple months later it closed, and I was sad. It is the same with Sega World. Except for China or Japan.
If you were to ride a ride there I would have to call a funeral home
Maybe these sega worlds had high aspirations but not the attention it needed to fuel those aspirations?
WHY DID DISNEY QUEST HAVE TO CLOSE!!! I have memories there from before I was 3 and recently went back there. It’s so sad to see it go.
We used to have a segaworld in bournemouth but it was just a arcade .
Aww why did I need to be dead , curse u logic
In dubai we have sega republic which is similar and is actually pretty successful but it needs some more rides and games.
ZeldaDraven It’s closed.
If Sega didn't blow their money on theme parks, maybe Dreamcast would still be alive today.
It would have probably been discontinued years ago still
RaineTCG you're trash
Dreamcast might have lived longer
Blame Bill Gates on that one.
THE BATMAN this place sound cool
