Unfortunately, pulling away can mean may things. From insecurity, to another person, to the old girlfriend coming back, to his just trying to deal with his own feelings about the situation. If you're trying to get to know someone, naturally, they will be interested to talk about themselves, including what makes them laugh and what they really don't like. that's part of finding the commonality between you two. But if you have to ask someone for such basic information such as what makes them laugh and they never say anything, then it means that this person isn't really interested in communicating with others, or rather, that they don't feel enough of a connection or attraction to even want to disclose the basics. If this is a hookup, then you already have your answer because in those situations, nothing more is important than the sex. Move on and find someone who is open about himself and is willing to give you the chance to get to know him instead of pulling teeth from someone who is so shut down and closed off.

But if you have to ask someone for such basic information such as what makes them laugh and they never say anything, then it means that this person isn't really interested in communicating with others, or rather, that they don't feel enough of a connection or attraction to even want to disclose the basics. If this is a hookup, then you already have your answer because in those situations, nothing more is important than the sex. Move on and find someone who is open about himself and is willing to give you the chance to get to know him instead of pulling teeth from someone who is so shut down and closed off.
