Great. The sound of this organ is magnificent, the organist is extremely competent, naturally born to be a musician, and we cannot fail to say that the presence of others has already become a familiar presence, very pleasant to see.
Words cannot express the tremendous contributions that Daniel Roth has made to the craft. He is kind, accommodating, generous and of course, knowledgeable.I remember playing this instrument in 2004 and he was right there with me every step of the way as I played one of Marcel Dupre's Fifteen Pieces. I will never forget that afternoon!Thank you M. Roth, for all that you do!
Absolutely. What a wonderful video. The looks on the two young men's faces watching the mastery unfold before them is just wonderful. And then to be thanked so humbly. What a wonderful feeling that must have been to them both. Daniel Roth is a gift from God. His infinite and unconditional love is on full show here.
I think the Prelude could be left for the piano but the fugue is magnificent and shows both the incredible compositional skill of Mendelssohn and the supreme organ talent of Daniel Roth. Fantastic.
Dear God, I love Cavaillé-Coll organs! And this is one of his greatest masterpieces. Thank goodness it has been preserved, not rebuilt. Having visited there, I can say that the console is a tight, uncomfortable fit for tall organists (I'm 5'11" and it was tight, and really bad for someone in our group who is about 6'4"), and there isn't much room for registrants! The sound, though, is worth it, and Daniel Roth has been an excellent custodian of that tradition.
this is a wonderful video! Mendelssohn shines, the organ sings, and Msr Roth is so gracious to present this to us! Listening to this work helps me to see Mendelssohn's love of Bach. Bach was lost until Felix began those recitals....this particular work seems so fitting at this organ. I doubt that I'll want to listen to it as a piano work again.
Superb! Thank you Pierre-Francoise for bringing this to us and making the whole superb performance much more alive! Wonderful to see a maestro close up. I listen and watch this again and again
I've been watching this very often since it posted. It is marvelous! I'm going to play the fugue this weekend...now I just need an organ like Saint-Sulpice! Thank you for the videos and all the hard work from Mr. Roth!!
Fantastique, superbe, une idée géniale de jouer la fugue aux grandes orgues. La septième descendante au pédalier est absolument sublime surtout en fin de partition.Bravo. Prises de vues et sons remarquables.
Someone didn't like this! Perhaps they fail to understand the sheer beauty of the music the masterful performance by M.Roth his fingering is brilliant by the way, so few of us are able to be there in the flesh we just have to be content to put on our head phones and stare in wonder at a screen tragic really. Thanks all the same.
AILSA DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THOSE GENIUS.....THIS OPUS BY MENDELSHONN IS MAGNIFICENT, AND ROTH IS A FENOMENAL ORGANIST. I HEARD HIM AT SAINT SULPICE......CHAO
I've heard him often at St Suplice most recently in March/April 2017, I was lucky to live in Paris when Dupre was organist at St Sulpice. unfortunatley can't get there so often anymore.
What an outstanding Organist Mr Roth is and what a remarkable performance!! Thank you for continuing to upload these videos Pierre! By the way...you are a great organist yourself!!
I am so grateful to be able to see inside this wonderful instrument - see what's happening when Daniel does amazing things at the Console of this splendid Cavaille-Coll. I love Mendelssohn and this is a work which really should be a back-bone of Organ Music. Thank you Daniel for this splendid performance!
Another great performance from the master. I've always found that Mendelssohn's piano works transcribe very well to the organ - I have transcribed a handful of his songs without words, some gorgeous melodies to be had there.
Magnificent!! Thank you for your dedication to organ music. I have to visit St. Sulpice. Keep up the fantastic work of preserving the art of organ performance. Bravo Monsieur. Roth!! Bravo to all in involved!!
@pohsiBRD. The great think about a visit to St. Sulpice is that it's not a tourist hot spot like Notre Dame. You can actually walk around without the great crowds spoiling the experience and if you're lucky, as I have been in the past, you might hear the great organ being played!
Bravo! M. Roth just keeps getting better and better. He must be an exceptionally nice person to work with. Thank you, Pierre-Francois; yours and the Master's mutual respect for each other is obvious. Col, NZ.
Bravo Interprétation magistral! C'est toujours imprressionnant de voir cet instrument magnifique et très complex interprété avec des assistants après des ajustements minutieux.
I had the great fortune to attend a Sunday afternoon organ recital at Sainte Sulpice in April, 2016. If you find yourself in Paris, be sure to include this in your itinerary! Daniel Roth was there, but was not the performer on that occasion.
Don’t you just love that growl of the pedal notes at the end?! Looks like Dan nearly stomped on the registrants foot when hitting the low C. He got smart and pulled it up out of the way when Dan was working that note.
Just found this, and what a superb performance of a brilliant arrangement of the Mendelssohn. The contribution of The registrants is fascinating too. Bravo!
This church does seem to have an incredible reverberation time. By the way, Albert Schweitzer did like Cavaillé-Coll organs the most. Listening to that piece I think I do have a pretty good feeling why. Seriously, epic sound.
Don't forget praise is due also to messr Roth two registrants. No mean feast this organ they have to read the music as well as put the stops on in the right place !
I loved that at the end of such a fine performance he thanked the registrants for their part. He must be such a delightful man. I wish I could meet him someday.
The title says that Daniel Roth plays this piece. No, it takes a pilot and 2 co-pilots to play this piece. He would not be able to do this himself. At least he gives them credit at the end.
I've now listened to this fugue I don't know how many times in a row. The only word to describe the music, the performance, the organ, and the spectacular space into which the organ speaks is "staggering." Does anyone know where one could purchase the organ transcription from which Daniel Roth is playing?
That seems unlikely since we are told that humans are too lowly to see god until after we die. That's so we can't tell anyone what we see when we get to this as yet undiscovered place called heaven.
Great. The sound of this organ is magnificent, the organist is extremely competent, naturally born to be a musician, and we cannot fail to say that the presence of others has already become a familiar presence, very pleasant to see.

Love his performances - He always looks so startled by the music as if he has never seen it before!
To me, the best organ in the world, played by the best organist in the world.
The sound of the organ is the cry of the soul and is immeasurable comfortable feelings
I want to thank the production team of this video. Be sure of the profound delight you bring to all of us.
I think the Prelude could be left for the piano but the fugue is magnificent and shows both the incredible compositional skill of Mendelssohn and the supreme organ talent of Daniel Roth. Fantastic.

What a work of fantastic and subtle mystery! Other worldly!
Outstanding! That fugue is magnificent!
Daniel Roth is a treasure as is this wonderful instrument. Merci!
I'm loving the shots of the mechanisms, excellent production quality once again.
Thnks, we will try to do much better for next releases )
The organ hand pumped!
I don't see how you can do better; just do MORE like this!

c'est superbe ! merci à vous, Daniel Roth, avec toute l'équipe de l'Aross, particulièrement PFDA... Merci :
Superb! Thank you Pierre-Francoise for bringing this to us and making the whole superb performance much more alive! Wonderful to see a maestro close up. I listen and watch this again and again
Youth...joy...hope...love....humility
In these times this video clip is a message to us all
I hope we see its message
God is love..

WOW....
That fugue is brilliant. Mendelssohn's counterpoint is almost as good as Bach and Krebs.
Almost? Mendelssohn is an early Romantic. Bach and Krebs are not. I very much like his romantic twists ; - )

Dr. Musica, Organiste extraord. Daniel Roth 👍🎶🎶🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
Mr.Roth, your organ playing is Magnificent ...it must be a honor to play the same organ that Charles Marie Widor played....
Magnificent!! Thank you for your dedication to organ music. I have to visit St. Sulpice. Keep up the fantastic work of preserving the art of organ performance. Bravo Monsieur. Roth!! Bravo to all in involved!!

Daniel Roth: One of the brilliant minds of this world.-
marvellous! a privilege to be able to watch and listen. thank you for posting.
Listen how Roth keeps that repeated theme going in his left hand! Amazing!!!
I love the way Roth attacks the piece!
Such a pleasure to hear and watch!
Wonderful performance! Well done, interesting videography. Wish we could follow the score throughout.
Thank you, Pierre-Francois, for sharing this.
Just beautiful! I heard Daniel Roth play this in St Sulpice Sunday 15 sept 2019. Was very happy to find such a jewel recorded here.
Wow: the fugue sounds magnificent on organ! I especially admire the free passages Mendelssohn takes within the rigorous fugue frame.
Benissimo! Thank you for sharing this with lovers of great music.
Daniel Roth is a great organist. Thanks for posting. Nice video too.
I cannot imagine being able to control so many appendages all at once. Well done, good sirs!
GREAT video-fantastic organist and amazing to see the organ "work".....
Inderdaad de grootste ! fenomenaal, fantastische uitvoering door Daniel Roth, mijn vriend op You Tube !!!
Subliem!
Dat is weer excellente muziek, excellent uitgevoerd!
Merci bien!

Daniel Roth is just gifted.....

Just found this, and what a superb performance of a brilliant arrangement of the Mendelssohn. The contribution of The registrants is fascinating too. Bravo!
The most beatiful authentical organ, in France
Le plus bel orgue authentique de France
Wow! Simply phenomenal!
Excellent performance, technically and interpretation, all voices prepared. The work is dark, heavy like weather in November night... :)
This church does seem to have an incredible reverberation time. By the way, Albert Schweitzer did like Cavaillé-Coll organs the most. Listening to that piece I think I do have a pretty good feeling why. Seriously, epic sound.
Never would have imagined it would sound this good on organ.
Thank you for posting this - a magnificent performance and just beautiful to hear it fr the first time on the organ. Merci ! :)
Crikey...what a piece..and what a performance!!
Absolutely superb. Thank you.
Grande performance au service d'un grand compositeur.
Merci pour ce cadeau !
bravo sir Roth!congratulations for you too Pierre
Beautiful playing.

Merci Piere-Francois DUB-ATTENTI...grande performance.
Excellent! I love the pedal shots! Pedal work is my forté......pun intended
Nothing to be said Roth is a MASTER ORGANIST..........best fingering I've ever seen, awesome!!!
So nice to see the preparation time and the presettings of the organ...
bellissima! stupenda esecuzione. Grazie Maestro!
Admirable... Merci maître Roth.
Brilliant Daniel Wow
Mendelssohn obviously not only stands for Elias and Paulus!!! This piece towards the end....is just incredible. very nice. thanks.
Indeed! Try an emotionally extreem Mendelssohn : String Quartet No. 6 in F minor op 80, written in 1847 ('Requiem for Fanny').
@@RWAS073 thanks for the hint.
absolut grossartig, meisterhaft, der ganze (emotioal) -Körper ist während des Hörens und danach in Aufruhr
Semplicemente....MAESTRO!!!!!!
4:28 beginning of the fugue
maitre... vous avez un humilité qui force le respect
thanks for the english subtitles by the way. and great performance.
.Merci pour le montage, c'est magnifique.
9:54 notice the little arm clasps Mr. Roth gives to his registrants.
Fine performance by all involved.
A lump in the throat because Christophe Zerbini was not to live much longer - he has been dead for a couple of years. RIP.
je ne connaissais pas cette oeuvre de Mendelssohn; je la découvre et je la trouve très belle; Merci
Magnifique....
The title says that Daniel Roth plays this piece. No, it takes a pilot and 2 co-pilots to play this piece. He would not be able to do this himself. At least he gives them credit at the end.
Such beauty!
Those 2 well-executed stop pull syncs at 8:30 and 8:39
Love This!
Quelle superbe prestation,bravo!
Fine playing, Danny, keep it up!
C'est merveilleux! Merci!
Finger technique is absolutely astonishing.
Absolument splendide !

the subject of the fugue sounds a bit like Mozarts requiem confutatis maledictis. What do you think? amazing performance by master Roth as usual.
Juste parfait!
Mr Roth,you are God.
That seems unlikely since we are told that humans are too lowly to see god until after we die. That's so we can't tell anyone what we see when we get to this as yet undiscovered place called heaven.
Impressive. Very impressive.
So beautiful
+ Jhr. Humphrey. The Maestro Himself. Brilliant
