  • “Anybody can change - it’s about skill, not will,” J. Stuart Ablon, Ph.D., told an audience of Avenues community members this winter. Ablon runs a clinic on challenging behavior, called Think:Kids, at Massachusetts General Hospital. During his visit, Ablon discussed how differences in neuro-cognitive skills can cause both children and adults to struggle with challenging behavior. To address these issues, Ablon uses an approach called Collaborative Problem Solving.

I am curious about the audience at this presentation. I really have enjoyed the book so far but I wonder were the parents that live across the street from Avenues in the public housing invited. They could really use the tools this book offers. I realize difficult children have affluent parents but I think the parents across the street have a greater need for these tools.
