    You're getting cavities because you are poking into and doing circles. If you do a line one way drop down then go in the opposite direction as close as you can and make more of a square rather then a circle you should reduce the amount of cavities you create.

    I like using the 1" expanding foam for smaller things and Dap DryDex joint compound (spackle) because it goes on pink and turns white to let let you know it's dry.

    One can is enough for an entire 6x3 table. Foam sheets are hard to come by in South Africa. This is an awesome substitute.

      For sure one can will do loads and loads. The only annoyance is the holes but filler can sort most of them!

    Maybe missed something but is there a reason the crust is cut off before actually carving the foam into shape. Asking this while my foam is drying

  • @joeythegoth

    Id like to see people do more elaborate shapes and terrain with expanding foam but everyone just makes hills

    • @TerrainMadeEasy
      @TerrainMadeEasy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I tried this! But what happens is the inside is full of holes! So to make elaborate shapes would be pretty difficult I think. The can isn't expensive, maybe try it and post pics?

      If you can get standard XPS foam then that stufff is better but this would do in the absence of that. Are you having any specific issues?

  • @Anecron1
    @Anecron1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice work, but just a small worry. If that foam is what I think it is, it's highly cancerogenic. You should be wearing gloves and a mask when working with it, especially when cutting and sanding it.

    • @TerrainMadeEasy
      @TerrainMadeEasy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair enough, I know for spraying it you should, I didn't know about afterwards.

    • @ReallyBigBadAndy76
      @ReallyBigBadAndy76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anecron1 the word is “carcinogenic.” And not to minimize the need - I would certainly encourage people to wear gloves and respirator when working with the stuff. But a lot of those precautions are intended for people with occupational exposure. Where it’s their job to use the stuff and they expect to have big levels of exposure every day for years and years. Probably for the production of a few wargaming hills your exposure is not too high.
      For context, lots of things are considered carcinogenic, including processed meats. So it’s all relative.
