God I so would love to see this Berkshire or more of them come to White Creek. I have been to this railroad dozens of times and have never seen a locomotive of this size operate at it. I plan to be at White Creek this Spring for May 2021 Card Session.

The shop just finished the block and pressed in the cylinder sleeves. I contacted the shop today and inquired about the shop footage ETA for these components. I would estimate 3-4 weeks to account for shipping, me writing the script, and filming the video/editing. That will be published the first Friday after it is finished.

The building of the 844 for all that you’re doing are you working off pictures and videos of her?

The engine is being built to the ALCO northern drawings from LE and finished as 844. It will not be an exact museum replica of the prototype nor did I intend to do that.
All the correct detail parts are being purchased (headlight, bell, number boards, a correct chimed whistle was purchased, steam generators, Mars light, etc). It will be close enough. The northern will be a well detailed engine but detailing will not come at the expense of operation. Loads don’t scale down. If something comes down to being built for scale or being built for functionality-functionality will win.

Idk what horsepower it makes but this Berkshire pops off at 125 psi
