The city of Poznań, in Poland, is a historical and cultural center of the Greater Poland, or Wielkopolska, region. It is located on the Warta River, near its confluence with the Cybina. Poznan was one of the first capitals of Poland, and played an important role in the trade and politics of medieval Europe. Today, it is a modern and dynamic city, with a population of over half a million people. It hosts the largest trade fair in Poland, and has many attractions for visitors, such as the Renaissance Town Hall, the Gothic Cathedral, the National Museum, and the Stary Browar Art and Business Centre. Poznań is also famous for its local traditions, such as the Saint John's Fair, the Saint Martin's croissants, and the billy-goat figures that butt heads at noon on the Town Hall clock tower. Poznań is a city that combines history, culture, and innovation in a unique way.
