Do I detect just a little bit of sarcasm? Can’t blame you as basically every boat nowadays is a sailing channel but just a tiny bit misplaced to post this here. The question is more why you didn’t find us before or how limited your life must have been without watching our previous give or take 300 sailing videos .....
But if you’re just having a bad day or even period we’re here for you. Breathe in, breathe out and let it go...better times might be just around the corner
And you’re not the only one having a difficult moment. There’s a snowstorm outside and the wind is blowing from the wrong direction so my daily jacuzzi routine is harshly made impossible. Unbearable. I feel your pain.
Best sailing video I have EVER seen. I’ve been following you for years. Love your cinematography. Love your music. Love your boat. Love your personal story. Love how your videos capture places I’ve enjoyed visiting (e.g. Collioure) and suggest new places to go. For several decades, having an extended catamaran adventure similar to yours was my biggest dream in life. Unfortunately my health window has closed. Your videos and a few more charters is the closet I will come. Thank you for sharing and for giving me a chance to experience my dream, if not in reality, then at least vicariously with such a lovely couple. Fair winds and best wishes for your grand adventure!
Excellent roundup! What a fantastic few years you have had! And now, the excitement of the new Outremer and the upcoming circumnavigation! I am most envious! I have followed you since you first got the Lagoon 52s. You put together really professional videos and travelogues. We can’t wait for the new ones, which are bound to be equally exciting and enthralling, as you record every detail of your new project. Good luck and fair winds.
Thanks! We are happy with brand independent followers like yourselves as for us it's not about the brand but about the process, the adventure and the atmosphere. Nothing more tiring than discussions about "I do/don't* like this on your boat, just because I own/want* the same/another* brand". (* cross what's not applicable).
The story was well told and the photography off the charts good! I was really in love with your 52 S but I am looking forward to your new adventures! Thank you for all the great videos!
Thanks, we loved the 52S very much as well. If Outremer hadn't introduced the 55 we might have stayed at Lagoon, who knows. On the other hand looking back at this video ourselves as well changing to the new Outremer seems like kind of a natural next step at his point.
What a beautiful adventure you guys are on. Look forward to watching more. Please keep your videos coming for those of us that dream to do what you are doing.
Fantastic video taking us with you on your sailing adventures with a beautiful narrative and great cinematography. Your drone sequences have steadily improved over the years and are professional quality. Looking forward to great drone shots as you glide effortless around the world in your new Outremer after you finish this summers sea trials in the Med. What a great way to prepare for your world adventure. Your Predict Wind routing sequences really complete each part of the journey and are very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more of your routing as you sail around the world.
it's probably easier to follow with the added voiceover or not? We don't want to blabla into the camera the whole timet may but maybe this beats subtitles
@@CatGreatcircle Yes the voice over works great and is very enjoyable to listen to. It tells a great story and comes over better then live recording. It works great to builld a narative and tell a story or explain things like routing and weather patterns. The voice overe also blend in nicely with the back ground music which can be modulated. I find subtitles sometimes difficult to read and distracting. You also have a very clear and pleasant story telling voice.
Its superb to see you sailing thanks you really are a joy to watch great camera work along with the sailing 2ishing you both happy memories in your new life aboard your new boat so looking forward to Sept once again congratulations and thank you
Thank you for sharing, I have watched all your videos and I say yous is some of the best sailing footage out there, the way you combine the drone and on deck footage is fantastic, looking forward to you getting your new boat and your new adventure, I bet you are going to produce some award winning footage when you get down into the south seas. Wish you guys all the best with the new boat, safe and happy sailing.
What a beautiful video - very soothing. You have a talent for videography. I just subscribed and look forward to your future stories. Since I was a kid I have had a fascination with sailing, but I often get seasick when on the ocean - so not sure this dream of sailing to remote locations will become a reality for me. But I may take some baby steps to see if it is possible. Best wishes
Great timeline video. Your channel has been very informative and inspirational. Look forward to continue following your Outremer & World Odyssey journey.
What an incredible adventure. I truly enjoyed the video of your sailing on Norway and the Mediterranean. Absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy the new Outremer when you take delivery.
Great journey it was so far! Thank you for this beautiful retrospective and for all the videos you made over the years. I really enjoy them, especially the ones where you sail in my favorite places. Lot's of useful information as well and you are filming/editing like pros. I am sure that the new boat will bring even richer experiences for you. Stay healthy!
Really enjoy your videos and the latest one was fabulous. Can’t wait for you guys to splash your new boat and follow your new journey and get up to speed with all the new features on it.
Great video summary. You two must be like kids on christmas eve waiting for the new SV. Very excited for you guys. Progress photos would be great. Take care, stay safe.
Beautiful story, wonderfully edited and told. Thanks for the care and attention to detail. Love the cinematography. Can’t wait to continue to follow along.

Muito obrigado o senor, you have to realise though that the world odyssey is mostly downwind along the trade winds. So we are still curious as to how the expected high boat speed will translate into VMG as well
I started from the beginning. I agree re Norway. When I was Navy pilot we flew all over Norway. Amersterdam too. I really enjoy sailing with you all. There's an Outrider 5X for sale that Im looking at. May be more boat that I can handle. Be safe
Thanks for sharing your adventures and sailing history! Very well done. Certainly envious of your O55 and hope you can make the start of the World Odyssey. I'm certain you can catch up if delayed! :). Are you planning the tropical or southern route? Looking forward to following. Cheers
Thanks i really enjoyed this video, i too love Norway and go fishing in the Tromso region. I agree this new boat is the best looking Outremer yet, but also have a soft spot for the 52s as it does so many things well. I cant wait for you to collect this new boat and set off (bet you cant too) ! I watched you leaving Las Palmas last time on the Arc and i will be there when you set off again. Take care and stay safe.
Nothing wrong with the L52S, best sailing Lagoon ever. I must say though that I am looking forward to a silent interior, did you here the noise on our way back over the ocean? Nothing structural or dangerous but just annoying.
Normally I turn the noise down but in these circumstances it made sense to keep it at the original level to be able to transfer a bit of the actual feeling on board. On video it all looks so smooth that you tend to forget that you’re having 10 meter waves around you. Luckily we had only one kind of breaking one at night, you definitely don’t want those
Wonderful islands. It would be very interesting to see whether it has changed over the years as we’ve been sailing in their Va’vau group on our honeymoon. After leaving the Sunsail base we only saw 1 other boat and we even managed to almost crash into it at night on anchor when we were too careful with the corals.
dang, so frustrated tha the cat won't be ready til June - grrrrrrr! best wishes for the further building process, making optimal choices that will serve you in years to come. 🤙🏼
Well most of the times I agree but it is fun to watch the build and enjoy the atmosphere over there full of anticipation as well. We’ll drive over for the 55 factory tour and sea trial event planned for next weekend. A couple of days later they will put the deck on our hulls
First off happy New year to you both. The boat is so beautiful even though i am a Monohull lover i would consider this boat. i went on a Seawind 1260 and it was nice but the Outremer to me is simply just a stunning example of how this company builds state of art Cats. xxx.
We were dedicated monohull cruisers too but these machines are so much fun to sail as well and combine it with live aboard comfort. I have to agree of course with your comparison to another brand but to be fair that’s comparing completely different categories
Matthieu and his team really do build such a beautiful cat, light, fast, simple. I also really like Marsaudon Composites 50, beautiful, functional fast, perhaps not as well finished as the Outremer boats but very sexy indeed.
Yes the TS50 is really fast but wasn’t an option for us as cruisers. We wanted more comfort and safety so for us the Outremer is a better trade off. We are not brilliant racers and wouldn’t be brave enough to sail on one after the terrible incident with Hallucine, the winner by far on our ARC crossing.
It changed our plans on the previous boat as we wanted to continue to the Bahamas and US East coast after visiting the BVI last year. In the end we were locked down in the BVI and decided to cross back to Europe via the Açores. Let’s hope the upcoming planning of the Glywo500 will indeed be possible. They have already planned a couple of fall back scenarios just in case.
Feel the Breeze family.
It is a beautiful snowy Sunday in the Bavarian Alps and you topped it up with your video, thx for shortening the waiting time for No. 4. (Off-topic: did you hear about the new M1-Processor MacBooks and MacMini? I recently moved from my workhorse MacPro which is consuming 250W/h just idling to a MacMini M1. The small beast is faster at rendering and consumes about 90W/h at full workload (my MacPro eats about 450W/h while rendering) The same goes for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with the new M1. Definitely a good way to save energy on a boat.) Be safe and healthy.
@@CatGreatcircle I guessed so - I just wanted to mention that, as it seems the ARM-based processors are for the next years the way to go and since we all seem to have a bit more time on hand, now maybe a little experimenting is fun and even useful. I would not mention it if it wasn´t that spectacular.
Congratulations for the video. It’s amazing. One question regarding the cat length, would it be possible to do the whole travel with the 39 footer?, are there huge differences vs the 52 in sailing terms?, not in comfort or room availability. Thanks! And keep on sailing! 😍
The L39 is a Cat A boat as well so why not? Still a lot of space available. The bed in the 39 was even bigger than in the 52 (2x2). On the engines the 39 is fine as it’s much lighter, the L52S sails a lot better and because of the higher weight and better weight division it feels way more comfortable. But as you can buy 4 39’s for the price of a 52 the 39 would be a great choice in terms of value for money
Why did you decide to change to a Outremer 55 from the Lagoon 50? What made you decide on the change, I suppose there were many reasons, can you share you top 10.
I could talk about this for days but it does make sense to maximise my response to 10 lines 1. The Outremer 55 is in our eyes the most beautiful cat ever build 2. As we are not very technical as you might have noticed we prefer to have a newer boat if possible with warranty and support by dealer and/or factory 3. We looked at all available cats on the market and finally chose between another L52S, the new Lagoon they are announcing step by step right now and the O55 4. With the experience we have build over de last couple of years we think we will be able to manage a performance cat right now, it seems like a natural next step with new challenges instead of more of the same 5. Although the price of the Outremer is higher in our opinion so is the build quality and in the end if you're able to do the investment it's not the price but the depreciation that's the most relevant (especially in the current European taxation madness) 6. We think the improvements that Outremer made in their new model in terms of space, headroom, protection from sun and weather and ease of sailing where just the changes we were looking for compared to there previous models 7. We'll have all the equipment we had before on the 52S except for the Tenderlift and a fullsize dinghy, the modernizations in terms of Lithium, more solar and the elimination of gaz could of course have been introduced on a new Lagoon as well 8. We kind of like the project we have entered in together with the Outremer family including being part of GLYWO500, the build time is much longer but it's a lot fun and it's full of positive anticipation 9. We can always go back to Lagoon when we feel to old to sail a performance cat 10. The Outremer 55 is in our eyes the most beautiful cat ever build
Great video and content, very informative. I felt the first part could have been a little slower simply because there was so much information totally in. Looking forward to seeing more.
True, and I even increased the first part compared to the draft version. So still some binge watching left as all scenes are from detailed previous videos that are still available on our channel.
We Made this moving map a while ago, can’t remember exactly but it must be a screen print of Maps and animating the motion in PowerPoint. In the meantime it should be easier using Morph animations in PowerPoint
We went from April until September when there is plenty of light and the weather is quite relaxed but there are others like @sailinguma that seem to stay there in the dark as well. Pictures of Lofoten in winter are marvelous too but I don’t think that would be an option for us
@@CatGreatcircle we are mainly worried about the cold... We used to live in Dubai... I guess Norway is an extreme opposite for us. Boat is in Turkey now, maybe we will do Norway after we are done with the Med before we cross to the carrebean...
Compared to Dubai everything is cold but I am very sure Norway will be a very nice change for a while. It’s so relaxed, well organized and friendly (apart from the astonishing beauty)
I have a lot of family in and around Lofoten, all my family here in the US has been back there to visit, except me. The one time I planned on it there was an emergency at work and I had to cancel. Lost $$$$.
True, difficult to tell though whether the wave forecast was accurate. We were exactly where the map predicted 7 but still not easy to estimate wave height. During the day it felt quite ok but the first big waves arrived in the night and directly abeam so we were a bit worried having no reference as to how the boat would cope.
Tina had several ocean crossings before so when she asked me in the middle of the night “what’s the max wave height this boat can take abeam” not having a clue didn’t really help
We have several alternatives to create extra protection already but decided to wait until we find out in real life whether we need it and in which form. We first want to try the concept where you can turn the wheels completely inside the cockpit and steer from there, when necessary even with the canvas (completely or partially) closed. We really liked the Sportop on the 52S but to be honest you hardly ever sit there during crossings
Yes that is an option but the automatic translation will translate everything we say opposed to just translating when I think it’s relevant and eliminating the BS 😎
Elon Musk will be completing his world wide StarLink Internet sayellite service next year which will give you permanent high speed Internet service as you sail around the world so you can upload your videos from the middle of the Pacific. The StarLink Internet satellite receivers are already available so you could ask Outremer to already install one. For the moment the coverage is North America only followed by rapid worldwide deployment.
Let’s wait and see when this or any other affordable alternative gets there. Maybe broadband like at home isn’t really necessary or even welcome but to be able to communicate with friends like they’re already doing during the Vendée Globe would be nice sometimes
Beautiful video!! Thank you!!
You so grounded and down to earth people thank you for the privilege of seeing your adventures

Penang, Langkawi, Koh Adang, Koh Muk en dan hebben we het nog geen eens over koh Lanta, Racha Noi, Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi, Phuket en de Similan eilanden.
Die zijn echt de moeite waar... Vooral de laatste... Similan Islands National Park !
Groeten...
Marco
Wonderful favorite new channel just a question how has COVID changed your plans ?
Thx Karl, I am still on the Microsoft side of the spectrum after a short MacBook Pro detour 10 years ago ...
I could talk about this for days but it does make sense to maximise my response to 10 lines
1. The Outremer 55 is in our eyes the most beautiful cat ever build
2. As we are not very technical as you might have noticed we prefer to have a newer boat if possible with warranty and support by dealer and/or factory
3. We looked at all available cats on the market and finally chose between another L52S, the new Lagoon they are announcing step by step right now and the O55
4. With the experience we have build over de last couple of years we think we will be able to manage a performance cat right now, it seems like a natural next step with new challenges instead of more of the same
5. Although the price of the Outremer is higher in our opinion so is the build quality and in the end if you're able to do the investment it's not the price but the depreciation that's the most relevant (especially in the current European taxation madness)
6. We think the improvements that Outremer made in their new model in terms of space, headroom, protection from sun and weather and ease of sailing where just the changes we were looking for compared to there previous models
7. We'll have all the equipment we had before on the 52S except for the Tenderlift and a fullsize dinghy, the modernizations in terms of Lithium, more solar and the elimination of gaz could of course have been introduced on a new Lagoon as well
8. We kind of like the project we have entered in together with the Outremer family including being part of GLYWO500, the build time is much longer but it's a lot fun and it's full of positive anticipation
9. We can always go back to Lagoon when we feel to old to sail a performance cat
10. The Outremer 55 is in our eyes the most beautiful cat ever build
WOW!
Great video and content, very informative. I felt the first part could have been a little slower simply because there was so much information totally in. Looking forward to seeing more.
True, and I even increased the first part compared to the draft version. So still some binge watching left as all scenes are from detailed previous videos that are still available on our channel.
Mooie introductie video !
excellente retro
Awesome summary! But next adventure will be even better😊
Just tag along!
Great story!! How did you get that map of your route?
We Made this moving map a while ago, can’t remember exactly but it must be a screen print of Maps and animating the motion in PowerPoint. In the meantime it should be easier using Morph animations in PowerPoint
Morning Ma and Ma that is a good reason of life , but do your prefer outremer to Lagoon why ?
See previous episode 206 for a comparison
I‘m sure that you‘ve considered also a Balance catamaran. What were the Outremer advantages? Best, Albert
Yes we saw one on Cannes boat show 2019. Just not our boat at first sight so we didn’t even look in more detail
OK - Thanks and good look from Frankfurt
Go Boris!
That would really be something if a German would win the Vendee Globe don’t you think?
Yes, really exiting. Even 3rd position is amazing
I would like to join you for the Atlantic crossing.
Will the GLYWO be on a tight schedule like the ARC??? From what I understand the ARC runs on a pretty tight timeline.
There’s plenty of time to follow your own plans in between the “official” legs, the whole tour takes 2,5 years.
@@CatGreatcircle Ah ok, ty mate...... I think we would like to do something like that too, one day in the future.
Don’t postpone it too long!
Wow! Can you recommend the best time to sail around Norway? Did you leave the boat there for winter? Great video as always!
But Marijke completely agrees with you on the weather otherwise we might spend a lot of time there
I have a lot of family in and around Lofoten, all my family here in the US has been back there to visit, except me. The one time I planned on it there was an emergency at work and I had to cancel. Lost $$$$.
You should go!
If there were 7m waves there is a probability an occasional 14m wave train rolled by.
True, difficult to tell though whether the wave forecast was accurate. We were exactly where the map predicted 7 but still not easy to estimate wave height. During the day it felt quite ok but the first big waves arrived in the night and directly abeam so we were a bit worried having no reference as to how the boat would cope.
Tina had several ocean crossings before so when she asked me in the middle of the night “what’s the max wave height this boat can take abeam” not having a clue didn’t really help
you missed the most beautiful bays in the mediterranean: west Turkish coast
Still on the list
Hard life 😳 I’m getting one
sea trials coming weekend in La Grande Motte ....
Gezellig! Wordt medio 2022 geloof ik...
With unprotected helm around the world......tough !
You can make those subtitles in TH-cam.
So someone can make them go away if he doesn't want them
Yes that is an option but the automatic translation will translate everything we say opposed to just translating when I think it’s relevant and eliminating the BS 😎
