For all the Bass snobs out there and I don't care what anyone says, using a pick sounds better than fingers.
Dude this is badass. The pick adds a totally different tone and more metallic. But what do I know? O actually think tapping on bass kind of sounds stupid. But also think Lemmy was a Bass God. Bass is often forgotten but Gene, Nikki and Lemmy were it. Others just saw thier footprints in the sand. But Geezer in Black Sabbath had his own style even with fingers. But Geezer is a Bass God too.
New music sux because everyone plays what others have. Do your own thing. Make your own sounds. Write your own lyrics and make your own sound. And to be totally honest you have some talent. Anyone can mimic tabs but... big but... sew how the high strins yo play separately on the 4rth fret? Bridge it with one finger.
But any band now has a hard time to get noticed. Especially in "the hip hop" Era. That is sad.
Omg....music snobs like you are the worst. You can enjoy what you want. No one cares. Your not a "better" person because you dont like "hip hop". Your not smarter than anyone because you like Motorhead and others like Katty Perry.....you are also aware that if you study music theory for even 4 minutes you will realize extremely quickly that there is no such thing as an "original" melody. The notes are ABCDEFG with variations by means of sharps and flats....its about how you present and order them. If your sooooo talented where are your teaching videos? How much money does your band make? Where are your "original" tabs? Its really easy to sit behind a keyboard and tell others how wrong they are. Anyone can do that. It takes actual talent to create something instead of tear it down. The pick versus finger style argument is personal as well. Neither is "better".....it depends on what sound your going for...for single string, aggressive attacking, metal/rock then a pick sounds good and makes things easier but for things like the blues or funk finger style is basically mandatory to get the proper tone.....but obviously your the authority when it comes to Bass and music in general. The Wheel of 5ths is something you wrote Im sure .....bridge the "high" strings......can you even name the note hes playing on the "high" strings? Do you know the difference between a root note and a 5th? Whats the difference between the major and minor scale? Whats pentatonic and why is it so popular? Ionian? I can go on and on.....but i think you get the point.....you think tabs is reading music.... amateur.
so metallica became more pop when the bass got simpler.
