I was 12 when this released and I still remember it vividly, I literally finished the campaign in a single day..... this game was and still is a masterpiece. 2007-2012 had so many special gems...

this! i really felt like Shepard was gonna pull a sneaky on me the first time I played it when Price uttered those words. I went "now that's weird." especially when you think about how the war in the U.S. was near done after the EMP event happened
olzhas1one Who? Price or Shepherd? If you’re talking about Price, he detonated the nuke so the resulting EMP eliminated Russian armour and the US got the upper hand. As for Shepherd, well he started the war along with Makarov.

This was so fucked up. Roach and Ghost would've been a great help till the end. After all they did, they had to die by a man's illusions of war and fame.
A game without main characters death would not be a game. It's sad but that's what's needed in every game. Same with movies.

If you listen carefully in the radio chatter just before Shepherd betrays you, you can actually hear:
"Roger, I got them lined up"... "snipers on thermal"...
And after Shepherd kills you, you can hear:
..."All targets destroyed" "Solid copy"
That basically means that the snipers covering you in the mission is pretty much dead with you.

"Snipers" links to Toad, one of the snipers supporting you. "On" is Archer, the 2nd, main one supporting you. Thermal simply links to the Thermal Scope.

dude, literally the entire campaign is legendary, it's not like cod4 with pripyat or mw3 with soap's death, literally every campaign moment is unforgettable. they really knocked out of the park with mw2.

I absolutely love how cod plays with the red herring (makarov). His name is repeated at least twice in every cutscene (almost propaganda-like), drilling it into your head that HE'S the villain not shepherd, but throughout the entire campaign, he appears once, he speaks twice, then shepherd betrays you.
I also love how they make shepherd untrustable from the start so that price's "you have to trust someone to be betrayed, i never did" line at the end rings true for the player as well. Mw2 was definitely the best in the series.

For those who are wondering about the snipers Toad and Archer, you can hear towards the end of the mission on the radio that Shepard’s Shadow Company killed them whilst killing Roach and Ghost. Its kinda hard to hear but if you lister close you can hear them say it

Imarknutt the funny thing throughout the whole mission we don’t hear toad talking but we only hear archers voice not toads tells us where the enemy is coming from

To be fair Shepard attacked them after he got the DSM and Price had made no communication with Roach or Ghost since they were dead. Price was then attacked by Sheppard's team and then he warns them, but Sheppard played it smart

You get multiple hints in this mission of shepherd's betrayal:
When Price and Shepherd are talking in the intro ("This ends now" "Strange, I swore we ended this war yesterday")
The mission title ("Loose Ends")
The beginning of the mission you are ambushed by Landmines, RPGs on the ridge side above you, and mortars already aiming at where you are striking
Notice how when they are ambushed and are defending off what seems like an endless army, Shepherd doesn't send any reinforcements or air support.
And of course, right before the betrayal, why would Shepherd personally be the one picking you up. And the first thing he asks you is "Do you have the DSM?"

I no life's this mission so much I saved Scarecrow and Ozone, and they'll follow you out when the download is finished. However they're scripted to die after the mortar firing starts. Disappointing for teenage me.

Maybe it’s just me but what I loved about general Shepard was his charisma, like in the intro to this mission or his speeches to the rangers, speeches like his make me want to rally under the American flag, if I didn’t know any better I’d trust Shepard with my life, he just seems very trustworthy. Which made the betrayal all the worse 😔

Only 2 questions I have after this mission that I finished 6 years ago.
1.) What if he fucking shot the DSM?
2.) What happened to the Marines in Washington that didn't follow Shepard? Were they hunted down by his men?
ShrekHasEbola He probably shoved his magnum into Roach's gut so he knew he was shooting him. These guys were killed because they were high level operatives who could have pieced things together, most of the rest of the military didn't know about the DSM aside from 646 and Shepherd's personal company of soldiers, so the Rangers in Washington were just like the rest of the military in not knowing the more sensitive details.
ShrekHasEbola Well if they had shot the DSM, then Shepherd wouldn't really have had any way to track down and attempt to take down Makarov. If the DSM had been lost, then the entire point of the mission would have been destroyed. Shepherd wanted that intel, and only after he got it, would he have killed Roach and Ghost.

No, they arent hunted, As Shepherd's forgotten about them. As his main priority was to end Task Force 141.

Part of me still thinks it probably would have worked better overall story wise had you taken out Makarov in this game, and have Shepard be the villain in Modern Warfare 3 when the ending of this game being the betrayal and Soap and Price have to flee as Shepard burns the 141 so Modern Warfare 3 is Soap and Price proving their innocents while Shepard wages the world war he wants at the same time you follow Ramirez, Foley, and Dunn fight in Russia

MW2 has a lot more of diversity than MW3 did that’s for sure but I still hold a special place for MW3 in my 10 year old heart lol

Well... now I finally understand the pain CoD players felt in this mission. Losing your whole squad just for intel and then end up getting betrayed by the same person who gave you the mission, seems like the common cliche games usually have, but the thing is that it really happens in real life, and this game portrayed it very well if I say so myself. I'm a Halo player btw. So this is the first time I saw the complete mission, I always only see the ending part but now I understand why this mission is painful to even replay.

God this just has to be the best mission we ever got. The feeling you got when sheperd pulled the gun is unmatched, and seeing most of everyone’s favorite character die hit hard. I really wish I could experience this for the first time again, I’ll never forget how betrayed I felt.

I like how i got attached to ozone and scarecrow just in 16 minutes but i cant with the new cods no matter how long the campaigns are. Theres something about those 2. It makes me sad whenever they die

When he threw his cigar. It felt soo much slower falling than what it did as I took in what just happened. I was legit shook. I’ve never felt the way I had from a game before. Never did with any other game. This is hands down the best game

This was one of the hardest missions on veteran difficulty. Dammit I've raged so much on this game's campaign, but it was well worth it 🙌
Writing and level design so finely tuned. A battle through hell, a testament of a man's will. They steel themselves and push through the meat grinder. Alas, when they think all is well, and that their last step lies before them, they are pushed down the stairs of success by the hands of a traitor. Their comrades trying to warn them, when it is far too late. I don't think they can ever write such a great CoD game like the MW series ever again. There was so much soul put into this.
And then you here the sad music and price yelling over the radio, " Ghost, were under attack by Shepard's men at the courtyard, do not trust Shepard! I repeat, do not trust Shepard! 😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😥😥😥😰😰

These were badass group of men . Few in no they fought an army of enemies . Rip roach ghost ozone scarecrow and archer .
This coulda been _so much easier_ if like 85% of the strike team didn't die in that ambush.

True story:
A friend of mine actually built a replica of this house in Colorado although his house was more like the house from the MP map 'Estate'. He was going to build a replica of the house from 'Ferris Bueller's day off' but this house was more appealing and he even has a solar panel array just like the house in the game has.
When I replay this mission all I can think when I kill an enemy is “Good, thats one less loose end.”
The first modern warfare will always be the best over the reboot.

Also I know that they die but I thought why not to make this mission harder for myself
Imagine this as an alternate ending: When Shepherd asks if you have the DSM, you stab him, intense music starts playing and all of Shepherd's men fire on you. After a few minutes into the fight, the player will wonder if the enemies will ever stop spawning.
