I picked up the BB Pro 7 months ago and I absolutely love it. I was considering the BB58 but the T-fit clasp on the Pro sealed the deal for me. The thickness is not an issue for me so that wasn't a deal breaker. Now if Tudor adds the T-fit clasp on the Black or Blue BB58 I'll add another watch to my collection. Great video Andrew keep them coming.

@@jrh1704 Thank you Jeffrey, for me it wears exceptionally well. I have a 7 inch wrist so the thickness kind of disappears and it's a non issue. Steel Reef offers an oem quality 5mm clip-out link (not a diver extension, more like what is found on the Milgauss), and that does the job for me. I don't even need it tbh as the fit I have is perfect. But once in a while I'll just clip it out for no reason. I guess I'd want the TFit just to have it, but the Reef link is fine.

I recently went to a dealer to swap my 58 for the pro but after seeing the pros thickness I decided to stick with the 58. Because the pro is 39mm, the thickness stands out and makes it look unproportional

    • @chriscon8463
      @chriscon8463 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I can’t imaging wearing a 39mm that is that thick. As it is, my BB58 is a pleasure to wear! Tack on another -4mm, & it would be out of proportion.

I’ve owned both and have to say surgically speaking the 58 is a better fit, lighter, probably more versatile, but it does get boring after a while, the Pro on the other hand is a chunky boy and I likes that, the bezel brushing is brilliant and the yellow hand pops - is has something special which can only be appreciated on the long haul, where as the 58 is a charmer that loses its razzle dazzle quickly. Didn’t have to wait walked into an AD and was one in cabinet.

Ok I think you missed one big thing. I am in the I can afford both category. I own both and have for a while. I also own more than a few Rolex’s. The reason I purchased both is they are better versions of there vintage counterparts. The 1655 explorer 2 had no GMT function definitely did not have 70 hours of power reserve and the bracelet is a whole another level. For the 58 the same can be said better movement longer power reserve better bracelet than the vintage Rolex and Tudor Submariner. This is not an Apples to Apples comparison of current Rolex models to current Tudor models. This is a Comparison of Vintage Rolex and Tudor to current Tudor. In my opinion there is no contest. Buy the Tudor current save a lot of money and whole you are at it get a five year warranty. Tudors to today is making vintage inspired watch of Rolex and Tudors past and they are killing it. Thank you Tudor. Lastly I love the videos you make please keep making them.

Another awesome video Andrew! Interestingly I wear a black dial Explorer II and my twin brother wears a Submariner. We've considered, cashing out and grabbing these exact watches. Not a knock on the Rolexes at all; more a commentary on how good the Black Bay's are - especially for the price delta.

The 58 lives on my wrist. Got it in August and wore it every single day, and often to bed. My new year's resolution was wearing my other watches again and have a rotation. I'll now wear it 1-2 days a week at work, and then all weekend long. And any work day with another watch has the 58 put on when I get home.
Funniest thing is, I kind of hate divers. But if there were such a thing as a one watch collection, this would be it.

This is a tougher call than the Pelagos v. BB58. For months, I was torn between the 925 and the Pro. The issue was resolved when I let go and let the wife decide. She also liked both, but went with the Pro. It was a good decision, but failure was unlikely given the quality of both watches. In light of her decision making skills, she must now decide which of our two daughters we will keep. The loser will be sent to Jolly Old to live with Mr. Hands and the sheep.

At one point I owned both, but over time I grew tired of the BB58 and it got sold to help fund a reverse panda Zenith Chronomaster Original. The BB Pro on the other hand is the perfect everyday watch and the dial design is 10/10. I don't even notice the thickness, but then again I like chronographs too and they are typically 13mm+ in thickness.

Thanks for another top quality review. I’d go for the Black Bay 58 myself, mainly because I just prefer the looks, but also that I’m pretty convinced the thickness of the Pro would not sit well on my relatively small wrist. Now, I don’t have any children, but many years of working with them means that if I did, I’d probably want to sell both too!

i am lucky enough to currently work for a company that works with Tudor, and not only was I able to get one immediately, but with a significant discount.

If one could afford to buy both BB58 and BB Pro he would rather buy a rolex? I certainly would disagree. I sold my rolex watch so that I can afford these 2 watches. To me having both of these watches is better than owning 1 steel rolex watch. The dimensions of BB58 is more finely tuned than the submariner, and the clasp of the BB Pro is actually better than any rolex watch. These 2 watches cannot be compared with each other. One shouldn't decide between these 2 watches as both serve a very different set of functions. So it's an easy decision to choose as it all comes down to one's lifestyle which requires more of a diver watch or a GMT watch. But this comparison video is still an excellent video (all your videos are top quality) that showcase the beauty of these 2 watches at the same time.

I had this exact dilemma for a while! I ended up with the Pro but still want the black bb58, neither was available though (only 58 blue or 925). However the Pro popped up and I picked it up straight away.
I weighed up the clasp and gmt+date over the rotating bezel. However I do like the look of the 58 more and it wears better (thinner). I'm still not sure if I've made the right decision but the Pro is definitely more unique and i am slowly coming around to it more. I'm not a fan of the no surround loom as it makes the watch look a lot more casual (I know that's its intention).

It took 4 months for my AD to give me the call and I can honestly say, the PRO for me is the better watch. Not because the 58 is a bad watch... its superb..but the Pro is just more interesting. I find myself looking at the time/dial more often. For ref I have a 6.5" wrist and the thickness is no issue at all. I don't need it to "slide under a cuff" because I want other people to see it too. 10/10. T-fit clasp also seals the deal. I sold my 58 in the end. Went back a few months later to get the Pelagos, decided to try the BB Pro despite hearing the narrative about how horrendously thick it wears. It felt and looked great on wrist! Genuinely don't know where the narrative of the Pro being unwearable came from (Rolex Explorer 2 owners, probably) but it's unwarranted. I don't buy a watch just to still need to check my phone for time related things.
That said, the Pro has a lot of competition in the traveler's GMT space now and the design just doesn't do much for me as someone not hugely into the vintage thing. The 58 in gilt has more character to it and stands out as a unique design even if one isn't fully aware of what it's referencing. It remains on my list of things I'd like to get as a weekend watch. It'll just be a while as I did shop for GMT watches recently and a Grand Seiko Mistflake won out (alongside a JDM G-Shock square as its beater travel buddy).

Tried on a BB58 today with the nato strap and it was beautiful. They were out of the pro but said it would be a 1-2 month wait time.
So I’d pick the BB58 based on the thickness but I didn’t get to personally try the pro.

I recently purchased the BlackBay Chrono Panda, which I love. I am on the fence between the Pro and Pepsi GMT. As well as the Pelagos and the 58.

*looks at you in P01* yep I'm a weirdo that wears a P01 in rotation, so odd proportions don't bother me lol. BB Pro is the next watch on the list, right alongside the Bel Canto.

I have both and they are very diferent, its like apples and oranges, the 58 its my favorite but for sentimental reassons, the pro on the other hand its just mesmerizing to look at.

    I’ve got the blue BB58 & I don’t think I’d trade it for a watch as thick as the Pro. That said, I’d love the BB58 with a date window at 6 & a glide-lock clasp…

I think you summed it up near the beginning Mr Talking Hands, get them both but that opens up another tin of wriggly things. Can you afford both? Which one do you go for first? For that latter question get the BB58 in whatever flavour you want and get on the register of interest for the Pro and hope it turns up when you have sufficient folding stuff to pay for it, ideally before another price increase. However I think there may be another insect in the skin cream and that might well be the Pelagos 39 (also allegedly pretty scarce), very light, terrific build and modern. For some this could now be a three way battle for your hard earned cash and that may take more time to save and decide. Let's hope that prime time piece, the phone doesn't die while you are saving up.

The BB pro is cool, I tried it on, didn’t really care that it was on the thicker side. Actually I would loved a 41mm version of this watch.

I can remember when Tudor was trying to get restarted in the US and the few dealers that carried them begged you to look at them. Those were the days.

I have both the Pro and the BB 58 925 and the Pro gets a lot more wear---even with the extra thickness it wears so comfortably thanks to the T-Fit clasp. I bought my wife the BB 58 Gilt dial so I get to admire it on her wrist!

      @1148bucknasty ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly what I did, wife took the bb58. The bb58 has better specs on paper but doesn't click the same. The gilt is too showy for me. The pro is just more special.

I like the Pro & the 925 silver so when they do the watches in 41mm I’ll happily buy both. Until then I’ll just keep wearing my Pelagos 42mm Blue. 👍

The 58 is beautiful but the fact it hasn’t got the date means I won’t be getting it. Going for the Bremont s302. Just as good looking, British with a Swiss chronometer movement (modified eta) and has a GMT’ hand. And I know it’s “only” 38 hr power reserve but I’ll be wearing it so not bothered. Plus 20mm between lugs so easy to change the bracelet to leather straps or nato for a change of style or colour. Yes I’ve been mulling it over for a while. Lol. 😅

The point you should be making towards all the watch snobs out there should be: at the price of one (boring?) Rolex, you can have both of these, so why choose?

  • @Conundrum191

GMT without the date window would just be wrong, imo. That said, it would have looked better if they put it at the 6 vs the 3.

Can't see me getting a BB58, but I could get a Pro and be happy with the purchase. However, there's a lot of competition at this price point. Gonna bite the bullet and choose something, somewhere down the line, but not just yet.

I’ve got the GMT. It’s a daily driver, the ultimate tool watch for travelling (I travel a lot for my work). It’s unbelievably accurate (I think 1s a month), and the best watch I’ve ever owned.
I would like a 58 simply to be a little less ‘tooly’ for evening wear etc.
The added thickness of the Pro isn’t an issue (I’ve no problem with the GMT) but with a 39mm case it just seems disproportioned to me, a bit stocky rather than elegant.
In an ideal world I’d like a 41mm BB 58.
No I will never buy Rolex. I simply have contempt for having to ‘suck up’ to buy a product, either it’s available to me or not, I don’t want to have to do favours to the dealer to spend my money thank you. Besides Rolex isn’t for me. Tudor is a much more subtle brand, and flies under the radar.
So I think at some stage I’ll be going back to look at BB but possibly even a BB41

I was lucky to get a BBPro which I love, went looking for a Ranger and came out wit the Pro. The height is not a problem at all as the lugs a quite short. Even when I don’t have a big wrist it sits perfectly fine. I would keep this one and may get a Pelagos 39 as well. The golden hands and markers of the 58 are not my cup of tea, but Its a very nice watch.
