I hate to say this but china has tons of influence in Africa because of the payday loan debt scheme they played on so many African Nations. In addition to that lots of Africans are sympathetic to Putin and Russian efforts around the world. Giving them votes could essentially just be giving China, Russia and communistic ideals additional votes.

America is the ONLY one to even offer anything like this ever, but you clowns don’t understand negations and diplomacy so you decide to turn it down. Ask India how that worked, to this day their biggest regret. This is essentially a FIRST STEP in veto power, but you can’t even see it because how blinded by ignorance you all are🤦🏼‍♂️unbelievable.

Africa and its leaders don't deserve the veto: why? Because African leaders are not democratic and tend to rule with an iron fist! If they get the veto, it will be a blow to the club of democratic countries. And their veto power would be added to that of China and Russia: it would mean that the process of democratic change, which African citizens dream of, would be undermined! A small number of African countries [South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Botswana, Namibia] can exercise this veto power on behalf of the continent as a whole, but the problem is that, even if they are democratic, this veto power could be in the interests of the entire continent, which is leaning towards non-democratic values. So being democratic and representing non-democratic countries is a major challenge!
Better, therefore, to keep the number of vetoes as it is and insist on advancing the exercise of democratic processes in Africa, Latin America and Asia (including the Arab countries) until the UN member states reach a reasonable number of countries willing to exercise democratic principles with tangible results. Otherwise, things will turn into chaos, and the UN Security Council will become a club for the persecution of those who tend to challenge their respective governments.

We all know why...When I was a pre-teen boy in the early 1970’s my father made me listen to a weekly radio show called “Letter from America” in a time when South Africa was deep in the Apartheid era. Here at the southern tip of Africa he was eager for me to learn the meaning of propaganda which at the time went straight over my head even as the white nationalist government controlled every word we read in the media at the time. The entire country’s population (both black and white) was orchestrated and choreographed through the use of radio and newspapers in an age before television. It was extremely effective because I was about eleven when I first discovered that South Africa had a majority black population that was completely disenfranchised. Those memories are being brought back to life right now as I see the American population and to an exponentially greater degree the citizens of Israel mindlessly dance and sing to their master’s voice. No one here has any respect for anything American today, and the Zionists are universally despised. Back in the 70’s my father told me that I will one day see the people of Europe erect a statue in honour of Adolf Hitler. It appears that time is fast approaching.

The problem is that, African Countries must first be able to love themselves and to be able to make their own decisions in regarding the development of their countries. Because the African Union has been a failure for several years, in the sense that Westerners or Easterners continue to manipulate them, and themselves threatening their own Populations.
Therefore, having a Place in the Security of the United Nations or the Right of Veto is only Secondary. Because if African Leaders continue to be manipulated or to destroy their own Countries for their own benefit, having the Right of Veto in the National Security Council of the United Nations will not change anything for the African People.
In conclusion, today's World needs the balance of all global Axes, namely the Western Axis, the Eastern Axis and the African Axis to face the Serious Issues that the World is experiencing. For this, "Awareness"is essential for Everyone to save this Planet today and for the future.

@@Tejaye777 This is what people don't understand about the UN. These five countries have veto power because they have the most geopolitical power. Take the US vetoing Palestinian statehood for example. Most of the UN would love to admit a country which is half ruled by a terrorist organization. Without the US veto, they would do just that, Israel would feel threatened and invade, Middle Eastern countries would attempt to invade Israel, and the US would move three aircraft carriers to the region and end the conflict in a couple months, because they have the military and geopolitical power to do so. But the outcome of that conflict is several hundred thousand casualties, both military and civilian, not to mention the end of any chance for a Palestinian state, since Israel would certainly take Gaza and West Bank after the dust settles. As one can see, as counter productive as the veto seems at times, it is preventing significantly worse outcomes by giving major powers more geopolitical authority, so they don't have to use military force to end up in the same place.

Madam Arikana Chionbori has been apt and blunt as a speaker on this issue. The way UN is run today is appalling and a toothless body. I think USA is afraid that Africa with full powers at the UNSC will never be allowed to be pushed around. Madam Arikana Chionbori has made my day. If they don't want to be "ẹgbẹkẹgbẹ" according to Fẹla A. Kuti, it's time to include Africa on the UNSC.

Veto powers exist because no superpower will accept world opinion or a majority forcing its decisions on it. The UNSC offers a balance between the greatest powers, where none can control the outcome. We did have that system that you wish for, it was called the League of Nations. You should read about it. It resulted in WW2.

This is what people don't understand about the UN.

There are new players in town like china and Russia actually giving billions, security pacts, infrastructure and treating them like investment partners not inferior disrespectful silent servants. Africa is growing in global power on a global political , economic and economic structure. US and EU offer is just like a low ball job offer from a company on the verge of decline and bankruptcy and dominance where they are using u to be exploited. Instead of upgrading and keeping up with t market value and growth and respect with equality they are stuck in an outdated, dehumanizing exploitation system while the world moves on. This is actually making Africans even more angry and pulling away even its puppets. There smarter move which they will never do is give permanent seats with veto power to keep up with the competition. They are sealing their own fate but like I always said white folks biggest issue is their lack of ability to civilize, their racism which will cause them to be left behind forever.
