TH-cam/Instagram/TikTok is oversaturated with hyper extreme hairlines and insane edge clipping. Dan seems to be one of the rate barbers across socials that still understands and maintains natural finishes on his clients. I appreciate what you guys do!
I just discovered these clips and I can't stop watching! Any spare time I've had this last week. I know nothing about cutting hair, but these are so fun to watch!
I only found these videos a cpl of wks ago, my daughter is a hairdresser she has been for 14yrs, she's amazing, I really enjoy watching hair videos for this reason. I love Dan's work she does men's hair aswellshe has 1 man go in every fortnight for a trim which is mad 😅
"What we can do is start to give you what looks like a haircut at this length more than what looks like you've grown it out from a different hairstyle." Simple, yet, so effective in getting his point across to his client and audience. Thanks Dan, you are truly gifted in your passion.
I like that you always talk the hair cut out which is such a good idea the client feels at ease and helps to be on the same wave length. Great hair cut.
Love this one! First of all, I totally support Kye growing his hair out, "just because". I think there are things that men owe it to themselves to do. One is growing a beard at least once (no matter how terrible it is), and two is growing out their hair if at all possible. And It is better to do it younger than older while you still have a good head of hair and are attractive and before you turn too grey. I regret that I didn't grow out my hair when I was young and better looking. I hope Kye really does grow his hair out, and comes back for trims throughout the process. He has a beautiful head of hair and I think long hair will look very good on him, so I can't wait to see how it looks. Of course Dan does a fantastic job with this one, as always. I just love to see someone with longer hair that is keeping it!
Ike Myung - I am no longer young in numerical years and could be offended by such ageist and lookist comments. But I am not because I know that not all younger men are attractive and that there are many mature men who are still considered handsome - Brad Pitt (58) and Robert De Niro (79) being obvious examples. Both still have a 'good head of hair'. And are you familiar with Neil Oliver? He is a British tv presenter with long shoulder length hair. He is 55 years old. As for me, I have grown out my hair - there are some greys but less noticeable because my hair is naturally blond - and it is now below my shoulders. And my age? I will be 67 next month. Long hair does not have to belong to the young and attractive!
@@RegalGentleman I am not from the woke brigade but he says very offensive things 1. older men are not attractive 2. older men don't have good hair 3. grey hair is unattractive. 4. older men shouldn't really grow their hair His words: And It is better to do it younger than older while you still have a good head of hair and are attractive and before you turn too grey. Your response to these ageist and lookist comments? Well, you know because you wrote them. 'We'd love to get Kye back in throughout the process!' Maybe when you are older and struggling with the ageing process as I am now, you will understand how offensive these words can be - if you let them
This is exactly what my hairdresser did with me when I grew my hair from an asymmetric bob with an undercut (what they call now the "I want to speak to the manager" haircut). She was adapting my haircuts to the growth every time I showed up in her shop.
Who can do a haircut like this in Houston? Every men's salon/barber either just show clipper fades, clipper work, or women's hair. I haven't found anybody that can even remotely do work like Dan in Houston. Please somebody recommend me a name.
I really appreciate the skill on show here. I am in exactly the same position; growing hair out but it looks ragged and needs balancing. Trouble is my local barbers specialise in short cuts. I have lost count of the mid-growth maintenance cuts I have had that go pear shaped and put me right back at the beginning. It would be great to know how to tell a barber who is competent at cutting long hair. Is the horse shoe technique the first giveaway? If they don't separate the hair should I be heading out the door?!
This fellow is quite handsome, you seem to have the best looking clients! I love the transition, he had great hair, but it needed a GOOD CUT, luckily he chose you to do it! I cut my husband's hair, I love watching your techniques, always SUBLIME! Lovely fellow, lovely cut :)...
great haircut.....really cute guy. Just needs to smile more often. Everyone needs to smile often actually. You don't realize its the most flattering thing you can do for yourself.......not to mention putting others at ease. Hah.....just a thought for the day!
Sorry! I'll rephrase that, my spelling error! 🙄 o love the off centre parting. It's a really great haircut that brings the best out of his looks. He leaves as a handsome man 😮
Looks tidier but but he's gone from being close to exiting the awkward stage to having the Clint Eastwood haircut which is a cut thar after a few weeks is straight back into early awkward stage. One step forward two steps back. If he's aiming for long hair he's definitely taken too much length off here.
Looks good, but in my opinion it's best to take no length off when you're growing your hair long. Just deal with the awkwardness of certain periods. Otherwise, it just takes longer to grow it.
100% it’s always best. But just not realistic for some people. Sometimes it just gets too much and you want a cut! If this is the difference between giving up and going back to short hair then we’d always recommend a cut like this. If not and you can persist then keep growing for as long as you can without a cut!!
@@RegalGentleman I think we agree. There just is no avoiding some awkward stages of hair growth. I think it's best to take a deep breath and avoid mirrors. 🙂
He basically needed a little trim to balance his very uneven haircut to have a better foundation to grow it into his viking mane, it's just what he needed and i think it's a great starting point to reach his end goal.
How gorgeous is this guy?! ;) lol Personally, I would stick to the length you just cut to or maybe just slightly longer but not long. Great finish, Dan. You rock :)
There’s a 100 percent chance the top hair didn’t just grow that much faster. The balance was always off from the previous grown out style he didn’t maintain.
I thought part of the point of growing long hair was to escape the daily routine of having to use a hairdryer and styling products but still looking good. He's gone back to square one with a cut like this if he doesn't put effort into styling it everyday it will look like a lackluster grown out short haircut. This was definitely a bad decision.
While I agree with the awkward stage being unavoidable, you missed the part of balancing out the hair for growth. The final result looks far better in my opinion balance wise and he helped teach him how style and what will be needed moving forward to cut it properly for his end goal.
@@mariog1490 I agree. Trimming every once a while is great for tidying up so you don't look unkempt while growing it out. It also makes your hair healthier. This cut brings balance to his hair and will grow out better.
