What an eclectic mix of rockers. I am guessing everyone was "what the hell are they playing?" U2 makes the music much more sublime, Mick sings in a Stones hard style, Fergie wows with a booming voice, Bono style blends as a contrast to Mick. Not sure if they thought the end result was going to be so good, but it sure is fun to see and hear. Wish more of this would happen. Like setting up different actors in a movie.

This is such a fantastic performance with everyone providing stellar parts. Mick, Fergie, and Edge are forces of nature, with solid support from Adam, Larry, and will.i.am. I also love that Bono seems totally content to play third singing fiddle here. He lets Mick and Fergie be the stars and understates his performance. Goosebumps really hit near the end, when Mick and Fergie face off while Bono softly provides ethereal "da da das."
And U2 almost always are spectacular when covering others' material because their love and respect for what they cover shines through.
