Joe- thanks for all your help!
    On the 1x-
I’m wondering what you can suggest-
First, a simple question- right hand sounds can be combined in dual mode. What about bass in the left hand? Can I have an electric bass sound while also stacking it with an accordion sound on the bass part?
Now the bigger question. Where can I find a definitive and complete answer to the basic question of sets, programs, subsets, user programs, and how all of these are related to each other? I started on a fairlight series III 40 years ago and compose in Logic professionally…just saying I’m no slouch…and no manual or video is clear on their relationships.
Is this right?…There are 16 sets, each with 14 accordion sounds(programs) under it (I’m ignoring orchestra, etc for now.). But there are only 8 writable programs…no sets? Except the front panel says there are 4 user sets (page 22 of manual). And when I load up alpine and orchestra, where are those? And how many available? I can’t find a clear answer anywhere. Thanks much!

Thanks for viewing my videos! For your first question, I don’t know (or at least have not found) a way to play both orchestral and accordion on the bass side. The best I have been able to do is edit the sounds.
Now to your second question - that is a very confusing topic! I am going to start by suggesting you take a look at my video on FR-1x memory. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/6TriglbC9tI/w-d-xo.html
I think that video will help you a lot. Here is the setup in a nut shell. The FR-1x comes with 16 “accordion types” separated into 4 groups: Classic, Jazz, World and User. The first 12 (Classic, Jazz and World) you cannot change. So if you are in Jazz 2-4 Studio, your master will sound the way they programmed it at Roland - no changes possible. The good news is that the last 4 are User Defined - Roland has given 4 default types (Alpine, TexMex, etc). These may be over written by user sets that you create yourself or download. Here is a link to a video I did on loading the Roxy Sets. Here is that link: th-cam.com/video/5FatY4tAYuw/w-d-xo.html
To continue with your question, where are the expansion sets? There are two memory locations (sounds like you already loaded them). The real question is: How do I get to them? You need to create a user set and then load it into one of the 4 User Defined Sets. I also have a video on how to do that.
User Programs are different than User Sets. The FR-1x gives you 8 locations to save those. Those are really great if you are trying to setup for a show. They make it easy to change setups quickly.
I hope this has helped. -Joe

Kurt here again- I'm programming some user patches! But I find a quirk or something I'm missing- if I assign an orchestra sound (3c- clarinet), instead of accordion in the right hand, that is saved correctly and calls back up correctly. But if I assign that clarinet to the backup sound (the saved patch plays accordion, but I want to switch to orchestra)- it alway plays flute (3a) when I recall it. It appears to save the number but always plays the "a" sound instead of b, c, or d. Does that make sense?

Hi Kurt - I am not sure I understand the question/problem. I have a question for you: Do you know how to use zoom? If so, here is my email address. If you email me, I will setup a zoom meeting and give you the address so we can talk. This video may help: th-cam.com/video/mtLR2n60_pc/w-d-xo.html
