In this video I am answering a viewer’s question. The question is: How do you backup your Roland FR-1x accordion.
If you purchased the accordion from Roland, or a music store that has not made any changes to the Sound Sets or User Programs, you can do a Factory Reset IF Needed.
If you have purchased it from Kraft Music with the Dale Mathis Sounds or somewhere else that has made changes - DO NOT factory reset the accordion! I repeat - DO NOT factory reset accordion without talking to them first! Call whoever you purchased the accordion from and work with them on trouble shooting. They will know what was changed, what was loaded, where things were placed in the accordion’s memory, the best way to fix whatever problem you are having.
    Sounds (Expansion Kits)
    • You can only get the Sounds, known as Expansions Kits, from Roland. There are currently three kits available:
    • Alpine
    • Dallape
    • Orchestral
My guess is that Roland did not include a way to save to a USB because you would have already downloaded them from their site.
Note: You can only use 2 of these at a time because the FR-1x only has 2 memory locations in which to save these kits. If you do not have the correct kits loaded, you will not get the sounds.
    User Sets
A User Set is created using the Roland FR-1x editing software.
This software allows you to change a number of items that control how the accordion sounds.
My guess is that Roland did not include a way to save to a USB because you will have created these on your computer and therefore would have access to them.
Note: You have room for 4 different User Sets to be loaded into the FR-1x at a time.
    User Programs
    • A User Program is memory that recalls settings that you have set on the accordion. Items such as:
    • The Number of the Set being used
    • The registers that are being used (Treble, Orchestral, Organ, Bass, etc.)
    • Octave and more
In this case, the programs are created on the accordion and need to be saved to a USB for future use.
Note: There are 8 memory locations for you to save programs on the accordion at any one time. These are great for getting ready for a performance. The good news is that you can save and recall these to/from a USB.
