Don't know why anyone would watch this unless they are looking into having an affair themselves or have had one and are trying to validate their actions and reassure themselves that it's okay. Because the movie says it's okay. If you have a wife and she watches this movie and cries during it, you better leave her. She's obviously missing her ex.
My dude, if one is an adult and they still rely on "what movies tell them" about their behavior and actions, they're probably not a very good long-term partner to start with, faithful or not. One can engage with a "questionable" story and empathize with the characters without justifying their actions or projecting them on your own life. :)
