This is my BMW E36 325i from 1993. I have owned this for almost 3 years now and ever since I have bought it the rust under the taillights has been there. so stocked to finally be fixing it! I know it`s not the best fix in the world, but it`s better to stop the rust from spreading, than not touching it.

Had a blast reading this but i do these kind of jobs and other exterior stuff and i dont see reason to weld that, its different when you're replacing parts than filling rust holes. He did dig the rust out to the bare metal.

Rust will be back, it will be "stronger" than ever and you won't notice it because it's under bodyfiller. RIP that car.
I've got a bad news, the rust has been just covered. It's heartbreaking but to fix it properly you'll need to remove it all and start from scratch. Ask someone to weld a patch for you or put it as next to learn and go welding gear shopping. I would suggest to always use rust converter or etch primer on exposed metal(rich zinc or copper content-option for weld thru primer). Bondo provides NO RUST PROTECTION, it actually stores dampness which will cause further oxidation even though it looks fixed and protected. Make sure to get to it from inside as well, prep and protect. I would suggest to keep bondo use to minimum and as small and thin as possible, It may seam like a god send but it's actually devils revenge. What you did looks ok but it's a bodge job and it really doesn't suit the quality content you putting out. Cheers and can't wait for more content. Are you planning a trip to Spain?
This is true, rust strikes back and makes the bondo bulge out always. Many bodyshops do this and its horrible.
In Germany we call this „Pfusch“.

My convertible had the exact same issue, I cut it out and then welded in fresh metal whilst I was prepping it for a change of colour to imola red, the issue is I think is the water runs down the rear lights so I'd probably recommend using silicone sealant around the lights to keep the water out and prevent it happening again.
I know this is an older video but a couple of tips to take on board would be. Sand back a bigger area and really make sure you get rid of all rust and loose material you left quite a bit. Treat the rust with a chemical converter and when mixing the bondo always mix on a non porous surface. Cardboard etc will absorb some of the hardener, messing up your ratios.

Awesome video! Next time, wear a protective mask when you paint. You always forget that. Hope the next video has to do with your Jeep! Time has gone! Can you also take your convertible for a track day? I mean, that's the essence of this car to use it during the summer. The E34 can be used also in the wintertime!
Well yes and no. E36 is not a trackday. It’s a summer car for cruising. E34 will see trackdays because it’s a tracktoy. Next video will be both drifting and Jeep! 🙋🏼😊
All you need to do to remove a bumper on an e36 is remove the defuser. There will be 2 large torx bolts. Remove them and 2 little bolts in wheel liner and it will slide off.
I accidentally put 520. I was meant to put 525.
When will you sell your E36 325i Cabriolet, Fahre Films? Since you have you Nissan 200SX S14a and you E34 520 Turbo.

First layer of paint should be very light. I belive its called dust coat... 😉 And without rust converter it starts to rust again really quick. Been there, done that 😀 Never again

Må si det gjorde litt vondt å se på hvordan fremgangsmåten var.. skulle ha slipt bort alt av rust partikler, sveiset igjen det hullet, slipt sparkelet med kloss først for å få det rett. ALDRI lakker på utmattet (slipt) flate, da vil lakken flasse

Få litt tynnstoff på innsiden så tar det litt lenger tid før det begynner å ruste igjen

I would throw these sideskirts to trash, and with putting bondo over the rust, the rust is gonna be back in one year and the hole is probably gonna be bigger(ask me how I know)...

If you are going to use 2K paint, wear the proper PPE. It's not hard and don't destroy your body or the people around you. You should have worn a real respirator for all of the things shown in this video. Don't sand fiberglass bondo with your face next to it. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

Nice for diy. You should really give the resprayed parts a smooth polish, with a paste and a cloth (by hand, not by a power polish machine), to give the old and new paint a nice transition.
Dont listen to the cheapscacke motherfcukers, real carguys can apriciate your budget diy solutions. Theese are funcars, for having fun, enjoying them. If they want a garage-princess showcar...sure, dump in few thousand euros for the paintjobs, and get a heart attack when a small pebble hits it on the way to the carmeet. 🤪

Vielleicht ist es ja meine Deutschheit, welche das denkt, aber mal ernsthaft, die Kiste ist doch (zumindest hier) keine 1000€ mehr wert... Verschrammte Felgen ohne Profil welche an den Radkästen schleifen, semi-professionelle Rostarbeiten, wobei immer noch zumindest Links unten ein Loch ist, Spaltmaße des Grauens, M-Paket zusammengefrickelt usw usw.
Ich würde ja nicht sagen, dass ich mich schämen würde, so ein Auto zu fahren, aber wer die Kohle hat 3 Autos zu unterhalten, sollte alles andere auch in vernünftiger Qualität hinbekommen oder sich vielleicht nur auf ein oder zwei Autos konzentrieren..
Bei mir stellen sich so langsam auch die Nackenhaare auf. Vorallem bei den drangespaxten Schwellern. Aber naja, ist sein Auto✌🏻
