    I'll get a 90 day O visa while in the US because my wife is Thai. Then i'll get the 1 year non-immigrant O visa extension;
    This gives me 3 months in Thailand to get a 1 year extension while I'm inside Thailand.
    I need 400K Baht in a Thai bank 2 months before getting the extension ($13,333 USD - much less hassle than proving 40K Baht/mo income now)
    This non-immigrant O visa has no health insurance requirement (but I'll get one, so much cheaper than the US - and better)
    We'll retire early to Thailand and the reduced retirement income is offset by a lower cost of living.
    (we don't drink, smoke, or gamble so Thailand is 1/2 off - lol)
    The O-A Retirement visa requires health insurance, police check, and 800K in the bank... so a few more requirements.
    I married a wonderful Thai woman 15 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. It's a nice bonus that the visa program is easier.

    My recent experience regarding the subject. I entered from the US in December 2020 on a new O-A (my 3rd) a friend also from US traveled the same dates was issued a non-immigrant "O" (90-day) visa from the RT DC Embassy. He was not required to show, long-term health care only Covid insurance. Apparently he can extend his stay in the Kingdom when his O-visa expires. Where I am being told that I must exit the Kingdom and re-enter because my medical insurance expires in April. I have carried medical insurance since before required and was accepted by Embassy as meets or exceeds Thai requirements. BUT, my insurance could not be renewed at the time of visa processing, insurance policy renewal rules. So I was stamped with 5-months upon entry; and now I am being told that my visa is not expired so Thai Immigration will not allow me to apply for an extension within Thailand. I must exit, renew insurance and receive an new stamp on existing visa.

    The O-A is multi-entry, so just prior to the first 12 months is complete, leave the country and then return and get stamped in for another 12 months, therefore 2 years.

      @@travelingman3129 I'm in quarantine now, so happy to deal with the hassle. I'll leave in 12 months do some stuff in Aus and come back for another 12 months, leave my money in Aus and no 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account

    The Thai embassy in Norwaiy have a VISA option non-O. Why do the embassy have that
    option if it is only possible to get it from inside Thailand? I will visit the embassy in due time and ask them. Their answer is the pudding-proof so to say. I am married to a Thai .

    Why won’t Thailand immigration accept insurance from other countries. I have a non- immigrant O-A retirement visa and I also have a federal pension from the United States government with health insurance that is accepted at many hospitals in Thailand through a contract between those hospitals and my medical health insurance provider. Why do they insist that we buy it here in Thailand. Has there been any talk about showing proof of insurance and a letter stating that we are cover from our insurance company?

    Thank you that was my comment and I will be back in Thailand on the 25th with my O-A visa, I just wish they would make the O-A extension the same as applying ie. just have insurance and 800,000 baht on a one time basis.I also think there must be getting less and less O type visas outside the country as mine expired last April.

    Can you please make a video regarding the non - O - Retirement visa PLEASE ?
    And what are the benefits of this Visa which you never bring up in all your retirement Visa videos ,
    as it sounds like nobody has that one where I believe that's the best one to get in a lot of situations for people traveling and getting locked down with the virus here in Thailand?
    THANK you so very much 🇺🇸
