Thanks for watching our ATL Boat Show rewind video! What type of “scoot around boat” would you recommend for a houseboat owner looking to complete their houseboat life? What advice would you give someone in the market for a pontoon, bow rider, or a jet ski? Asking for a friend… 😉
Bum floats, basically a giant diaper. Lol. Good show.. and yes, pontoons are excellent now. I have a 26' with subs, amps and all. Great party barge! Family loves it. We don't ski behind it, just buzz out to our fav spots, drop anchor and crack a beer, BBQ and good tunes. Looking forward to the late spring/summer!
I wanna live that potion life…BBQ, beers, and good tunes. That’s really all we need 😀. You know what would be great for pontoon life? A Bum Float or two haha. It did feel a little bit like a diaper, won’t lie. Can’t wait to try them in the water this spring/summer! We’ll let you know how we like them. We got four so we can share. January is almost done…getting close to spring
Thank you for watching!! Yes, it’s crazy just how expensive they are these days. They have so many new features, but I think the best jet-ski is a well cared for used one.
The only houseboat show that we know of is put on by Houseboat Magazine and hosted at State Dock Marina on Lake Cumberland, KY. It looks like that show took a hiatus over the last few years and hasn’t come back yet. Keep an eye out, though, because it may reappear sometime this year during the summer/fall! That would be a really fun boat show to go to see the actual houseboats. The ATL Boat Show used to have actual houseboats you could tour (there was one in 2019). If you were to go to most local boat shows, it’s more likely you’ll find a booth where you can chat with someone about houseboats, which is also helpful for gathering info. Hopefully the National Houseboat Expo (what the houseboat show is called) will return soon 😀
I think State Dock also has another boat show that has houseboats, among other boats, if you’re in the area. Could be worth checking out. Not sure of the 2023 date, though. It’s called Lake Cumberland Boat Show
@@DeepHouseboatLife I've started drawing it. It's a 22 x 120, 2 Cummins diesels, 5 state rooms total with a look similar to the yacht style boats. We're the entire party top covered in solar for a 28kwh system. Generator will rarely be needed. Deeper (48"), heavier hull made for the rigors of traveling. It'll be nuts when it's done. I don't do anything small. Designing it for extended off-grid full time living with tons of space.
Hey guys hope you are all well, I would be like a kid in a candy store at that boat show! You guys would sooo suit a pontoon boat. Captain Clare would love it! Dory the deckhand would guard the stern haha. I love the electric boat so elegant. I so want one of those bum floats lol have you tested it out yet?.
It was so awesome and refreshing to be back at the boat show around other boat folks! Truly like kids in a candy shop. Jessie especially loves the look of the classic wooden boats. So cool and surprising to see one that is 100% electric. Haha Dory would definitely take her guarding duties very seriously on a pontoon 😂. Think a pontoon is the way we are leaning right now because it seems the most versatile for a family in our life stage. We haven’t tried out the Bum Floats yet, but we are hoping to very soon in the coming months 😀. A group of people walked up to us after we bought them at the boat show and they told us they have a few and love them. Swear by them, even!

The cost of the new PWC are mind blowing.

Are there any houseboat shows this year that you're aware of?

@@DeepHouseboatLife I'm mainly looking for somewhere to walk through and check a bunch of boats out to get ideas for a new boat we're building.
really cool that you are building a houseboat - do you have any initial ideas for the build?
