  • There's a lot of similarities between the well-reknowned DJI Mavic 2 Pro, and DJI's latest camera release, the Air 2S. As I want to add a drone to my camera bag for 2021, this video goes through the specs of both drones, to see which is better for filmmakers, like me!
    Enjoy!

Great video! That Variable aperture has me sticking with the Mavic 2 Pro. But I would be lying if I didn’t want the 4K at 60fps………..

Thank you! Yeah I'm feeling the same way. It's likely to be the case of the '3' having everything we'd like and more... But understandably at a higher price tag that'll make some people go 'Hmm, would the Air 2S be enough instead?'

Good breakdown. I've had the Mavic 2 Pro for about a year and a half now. It's been great for both video and photo. However, if I were buying a new drone now, I'd go with the Air 2 S because I think the image quality is better. The M2Pro doesn't do a down sample of the 20mp sensor to get 4k, but rather a pixel bin or line skip (not sure which one), which results in a softer image with potential for moiré and other artifacts. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great image, but it's not as good as what you'll get on the Air 2 S with that straight 5.7K read out of the sensor. Just for further evidence of what I'm saying, the M2Pro has a HQ mode which just crops into the sensor to get 3840x2160 pixels and therefore no binning. The downside is of course a huge crop (of an already not that wide FoV). Anyway, just my two cents.
One last thing. If you do get the M2Pro, I'd highly recommend the Smart Controller (or Crystal Sky monitor). Having the app integrated into the controller (and not dealing with connecting your phone and all the potential distractions) is definitely the way to go, IMO

Really great points, Phillip. Thank you!
I think I am too leaning more towards the Air 2S. However, being in the UK and its ever changing weather is the only reason why I've still got one eye on that variable aperture 👀

@@JordanLeeVideo Don't overrate the aperture. You can use the NDs or the shutter. At this price point, you're very much getting something more like an action camera, so don't overthink it
