We did not follow communism. In communism , no private ownership is allowed, all are collective...like u saw in the USSR. Here, we also had feudal lords and elites and limited private sectors.
What we followed were worst forms of socialism and capitalism unlike Nordic nations which followed best form of socialism and capitalism.
India mainly took socialism as "Government control" instead of government support such as by social welfare: high quality free education & healthcare for all from grassroot level, investments in infrastructure, keeping all important aspects under government ownership...
Lee Kuan focused on a combination of social democracy and state capitalism: 70% of Singapore lives in public housing, most study in government schools...compare it with highly unequal India.

Kishore Mahbubani - former Singapore representative to the UN - mentions 3 things as pillars of transformation. One of them is pragmatism - adoption of what works over a certain narrative. Money talks or I should say prosperity. So while it is a nation that is prosperous, you don't really feel the presence of a nation or civilization there. I have lived there 15 years ago. So is pragmatism the right way for Bharat? I would say we are already very pragmatic. When it comes to money, we would have no problems taking it from or giving it to anyone who can do the job. It's part of why Indians do so well all over the world. When it comes to social and political narrative though, I don't see us easily unifying under one umbrella - language or narrative. The problem these days is that narrative seems to get in the way of work and progress. It is that way in the US today but the US of the mid 90s when I was there was not that way. They were also very pragmatic back then (of course that was just after the world has stabilized under one pole)

Sir, why would you say we need to go back to sanskrit, dharma etc. Havent those cards already been played in the past and did not sustain as we can see in the present. I believe we should talk more about the new path that is existing and emerging rather than talking about going back to the past that too an uphill. Thanku

When was the last time you saw Sanskrit and dharma were main topics? Since post independence to until recently people only gave importance to their education, food and necessities, no Indian ever promoted Sanskrit or dharma, also Hindi was used to replace Sanskrit which even divided south and North.. A new way is to promote and encourage Sanskrit instead of Hindi so that people in south and north both need to learn language and don't feel imposed like they felt with Hindi.. also the original scientific texts preserved in India are in Sanskrit but not in English, why shouldn't we follow our roots and dharma proudly? Since it's the oldest civilization surviving till date, we should atleast have a basic know of our ancient literature which gave birth to many great scientists, leaders, philosophers and doctors?

India needs to accept Sanskrit as unifying language - agreed
    But Hindi is old language emerged from Sanskrit. Today's Spoken Hindi has been urduwised and have absorbed words from other languages.

Nonsense. India was created by the British and the rail lines they built. Even during the times of the Mughals, there were different countries but under the umbrella of a taxation system. Preveiously, the borders of the different states varied from time to time. By the way, there are only 50,000 people at most who know Sankrit in a country of 1.2 billion. So this is amother stupid idea to make Sanskrit the official language of India. It is stuoid to try to wipe out recent history of the British and the Mughals.

wd rather have tamil as a unifying language than a dead language which is the most castist I have ever heard of. Hardly anyone apart from a brahmin can speak in sanskrit or understand that language. No use of revoking a dead child, rather than a help a child which is suffering from mild fever and It will bring laurels
