    EXCELLENT TO THE DURAMAX video!!!! THANK YOU A MILLION! Marine hubby been tearing hair out trying to get this bugger out. The dealer CLAIMED you could just "pull out the sensor" - we have a 1500HD not a Duramax, 6.0 L engine. Corrosion terrible here in Ohio, this was a Colorado truck - rusting bad here. This video saved us a bunch of money, we thought we were going to have to replace entire front hub assbly to replace that speed sensor, so thank you so much! Excellent with close ups, going into all the small details - other videographers just sped over those details, you didn't. Keep at it, you are great at these!

    I've been doing a bunch of front end work on my '03 2500 Silverado and removed both speed sensors to clean up the rust etc on the steering knuckles ... when I took them out (having never seen a speed sensor before) what I saw was the tiny copper line not realizing there is a plastic cover over the copper ... when I was ready to reassemble everything the passenger side sensor went right in no problem ... the driver side would not go all the way in and must be damaged ... I went online to see about ordering a new one and they all have a plastic covering ... this is where I started to realize that there is a plastic cover and not just bare copper line wound around a small shaft ... All the video's I saw didn't show the sensors with the plastic cover off ... Your's did! ... and I want to thank you for the level of detail you showed ... I had hoped to get it all back together today until I ran into the sensor problem ... Anyways .. thank you for your video!

    If it is pulling left then the right wheel speed sensor is the problem. The abs thinks that right one has traction issues so it only brakes the left wheel ala the truck pulls left.

    Great video but you likely had to replace passenger side. Since the wheel went left it means your passenger side was letting out via the abs system.

    They rust under the sensor all the time no big deal you may just clean it then put a bit of oil on the housing and not repalce the sensor reuse the old one but to be sure go and change it.

    • @ScorpiPowPow
      @ScorpiPowPow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AEC_Tiny you’ve probably already sorted the problem, but typically it’s the rust buildup under the sensor. The rust expands and pushes the sensor away from the hub far enough that it can’t read correctly. Pull the sensor and sand down the rust on the hub to bare metal. Spray the area with rust inhibitor paint. Also sand any rust off the sensor’s metal gasket and reuse the sensor. If you don’t remove the rust and treat the area, the problem will remain or come back even if you replace it with a new sensor.

  • @zap265
    @zap265 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the problem is the rust, the sensor is usually fine

    • @klroth025
      @klroth025 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Rust jacking. Rust forms on the hub, under the sensor and lifts the sensor a few thousandths. That little bit of extra space makes all the difference. That's why we measure in thousandths. Clean the surface and the gasket underneath the sensor, and you'll most likely be back in business. Most people don't know this. I just had a mechanic tell me the sensors are integrated into the wheel hub. Good grief.

    I have a 2005 silverado 1500 2 wheel drive. My rear end went out so I replaced it with a lower geared rear with slip pos. Now my speedo is off by about 10 mph and my abs light came on after the rear change. Truck also pulls to the left when I hit my brakes. What all do I need to change to correct this? Someone told me I need to change the speed sensor on the trans but would that fix my abs light and pulling to the left?

    • @ScorpiPowPow
      @ScorpiPowPow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll need to change to a tire size that will bring the revolutions back to stock or have the computer tuned to your new setup. The computer uses the info of the wheel speed sensor and the speed sensor on the transmission’s output shaft together to figure out what the truck is doing. The output shaft is now reading a different speed than what the tires are actually doing since your new gearing has changed how fast the wheels are turning in relation to the revolution of the trans output shaft. This can confuse the computer where it doesn’t react properly in addition to the incorrect reading on the speedometer. Also, you’ll want to pull the wheel speed sensor, sand down any rust on the hub and the sensors gasket and spray the hub with rust inhibitor paint in that area. You can reused the same sensor. The rust pushes the sensor away from the hub which causes misreadings. It’s a common problem on these chevys.

  • @xFatalPhenomx
    @xFatalPhenomx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    What was your reason for changing that? Symptoms of truck? I just had a shop do a complete brake job; lines, rotors, pads, the whole system. Now every time I come to a complete stop, the ABS kicks on and the front passenger side grabs. 07 Silverado Classic. Any ideas?

    • @TruckMaster

      +Tony Escuzi I’m almost positive your speed sensor needs to be replaced. But I would replace both front wheel bearings I’m almost positive it will fix your problem but for now pull your abs fuse, you will have a check engine light but your abs won’t kick on

    Is it possible for a bad wheel speed sensor to cause my speedometer to jump and transmission shift or slip funny? My wheels speed sensor is worn almost all the way in half

  • @DeathRowMistress
    @DeathRowMistress 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I have the opposite problem. My ABS system on my '02 Suburban will fail at random times whether I am braking or not, and at any speed.
    It went out on me last year in the middle of a stop (or slide) on an ice covered freeway in rush hour (ahhhhhh Minnesota winter). After sliding sideways across two lanes of traffic, then sliding back the other direction across both lanes again, slowly rotating to face oncoming traffic, slamming into the concrete barrier at about a 135 degree angle, and coming to a stop, perfectly aligned with the wall, in the emergency lane, facing 180 degrees in the opposite direction of which I started, smiling and waving at the people driving past me to let them know I was ok, while dying on the inside, thinking about possibly having to put my old boy down because the damage would result in a total loss, I decided if he made it through, I should probably fix the ABS issue. $0 in repairs later (a little gouge out of the bumper. I can't figure it out either.) I need to figure this problem out.
    So. My question is. Is there any way to find out which sensor is bad without having to spend the time disassembling each wheel to figure it out? My luck it would be the last one I tested. For some reason I think it's the front passenger side because sometimes when I crank the wheel to turn in somewhere, it feels like there's a stutter coming from that side. After watching this video, replacing it is easy enough. Just finding out which one is bad is the hard part.
    Thanks!
