    Had two shops look at my 1994 GMC pickup, one wanted to rebuild transmission, the other had no clue. Saw your youtube and replaced my speed sensor. All is fixed now, thanks

    380,00000 miles on my 1995 Chevy 1500 2 wheel drive that I've owned since new. Original Trans and Motor. Been using Castrol full synthetic since new. Change oil every 5000 and Trans fluid every 50,000 Trans started changing funny and slipping and gauges stop working. Change speed sensor, that took care of problem. Thanks for helping me. Kevin.

    THANK YOU!! IVE been looking for this awesome video for 4 months!! You just don't know how much this 61 year old disabled lady needed to find this video. My 2002 chevy avalanche with 260,000 miles has been parked because of the ABS LIGHT, speedometer and shifting issues. And I've told many that this is the issue. But no one wants to just help replace for me. They're saying $275. Up to $3,500. But I know that my ole RED just needs this $30. Part and I'll be fixing it myself THANKS TO YOU AND THIS AWESOME GREAT VIDEO!! BLESSINGS TO YOU FROM OLE DISABLED 61 YEAR OLD CENTRAL KENTUCKY LADY!! 🙏

    I swapped out the speed sensor and it fixed two of the three problems I was having with my 1995 GMC Sierra 1500: the speedometer moving erratically and the automatic transmission not shifting as smoothly as it should. The only thing it didn't fix was the ABS warning light. But I'll check out your other videos to look for a solution. By the way, the sensor in my truck was a whole lot harder to remove. I had to use a foot and half long, 1/2" ratcheting breaker bar with a 1" socket to get it off. Great video! Four years later and it's still helping people fix their own trucks. Thanks. - Richie

    Rebuilt my trans 7000k ago and it started shifting funny and slipping. Changed the shift solenoids and then it wouldn't shift past 2nd and the speedo stopped working. Almost had a heart attack thinking I had to pull it back out and disassemble to figure out what went wrong! Watched your video, changed the vss and now it shifts perfect again and the speedo works! Can't thank you enough! You saved my sanity

    The car gods must have sent you today...! My 99 Tahoe is acting just like you described. I had thought that it sounded like an electrical issue, but I'm just a lowly woodworker, not a mechanic. I called around to price a rebuild but Dayum at the cost of that! You're a lifesaver! Thanks bro!

      @@rickparshall Hi Rick. Yes it did the trick. I got under there and replaced it right there at Auto Zones front door. It took longer to crawl under and out than it did to make the repair. But... At first they told me it would be $30. And of course mine cost $95.. Lol. Good luck!

    • @rickparshall
      @rickparshall 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Robert Ray I'm a woodworker too! And the second speed sensor (the hard to reach one ) did the trick finally.. redid every ground on Tahoe then decided I needed to test every plug with a ground lead.. found one on shifter at tranny and looped the good one to it. I had tested both ABS wheel speed sensors for voltage at plug then for resistance from plug to wheel, both passed those tests so I did the sensor voltage test at plug while unplugged from harness, one spin showed voltage on D/S but P/S had zip.. installed new sensor, light stayed on... no speedo and service brake light came on in first gear and would shift no higher.. first vehicle speed sensor yielded no change, then before finding out my transfer case had another one I had dash ripped apart checking key harness.. found a broken tow-haul wire, fixed that still no change. Today I found the speedo sensor on D/S of transfer case and stuck the sensor in I had taken out of P/S in case after testing it and finding it was good... the abs light went out and it shifts, the speedo works also slew of other issues went away!! You-tube is my friend and I know know just about every electrical circuit on my truck🤣...

    Installed on my 2005 Chev Silverado 4WD, it had a C0300 Rear Propshaft Error Code. With the new sensor, it shifts to Auto, 4 Hi, 4 Low & 2 Hi with no issues. The sensor was on the Transfer Case on the passenger side, it took about 10 minutes to do and saved me $200 that the Shop wanted! The old sensor and electrical connector had some corrosion on it from the salty Canadian winters. Cleaned the connector with a small wire brush and covered it with die electrical grease to keep the water out.

    Super clear explanation. Just purchased a 94 GMC 1500 4x4 Auto Trans. Service Engine light just came on (less than a week after driving it home). I have also noticed sporadic shifting as you mentioned. I'm going to check the OBD and see what codes pop up but this inexpensive, easy replacement is at the top of the list of troubleshooting.

    I think my speed sensor went out. My 96’ Tahoe started sifting funny last week. Today I was driving back to the rig and I was 15 miles out I had to drive 50mph at 3k RPMs then on dirt road 5 miles out 25 mph when I hit a down hill spot my transmission drove normal for almost a mile then back to slipping. I had my transmission rebuilt 5 years ago.

    Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I will have to watch the video again.
    I am having difficulty in determining which sensor should I purchase for my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 VHO 6.0L RWD Automatic transmission. Does my truck have a 16-bolt or 17-bolt pattern on the transmission pan? Various parts search platforms state the following, "Some vehicles may use the same part for both a Speed Sensor and an ABS Wheel Speed Sensor, while others may use two different parts. These parts serve different systems of the vehicle and may fail for different reasons - it is important to replace the proper sensor to fix the underlying issue."

    This video was a huge help I was having a issue we’re sometimes my truck would shift horribly for no reason when taking off from a light a code would come on and it would sometimes stay on or sometimes it would shut off. It was this sensor my plug has trans fluid in it so not only the Sensor but my plug as well fixed it and been mint ever since

    Thanks for the video. I changed mine in about 10 minutes. A shop told me the reason my dashboard brake light was blinking. Took my truck home and changed it, but it’s still blinking. Not sure what to do next. Maybe your next video will cover that.

      Sweet, I'm glad this helped man! And thank you for the comment, it's good to know that it's a common issue and the symptoms aren't just something that we experience in the 90's pickups!
