Why not use some resistance, do a 1/3 fewer squats and get more out of your workout?

I thought you were supposed to hold it at the bottom.
Why not vary the squat format - hold for 1 second. Mix it up for greater burn = more lactic acid, resulting inngreater endurance over time.

Swinging arms up is cheating. I cross my arms behind the head looking forward. This way is ensured that the quads lift the whole upper body and not just the ass and the back muscles do the rest.
The original Tabata exercise was made on a bike at 170% VO2max power. Anything less is technically not a Tabata workout. It is not easy to do that with squats since the down movement takes considerable time and does not require physical work (slowing down the weight at the bottom does, but I'm not sure how much that counts). So lifting the center of the body weight by 50cm, say 19x80kg*9.81*0.5m = 7455 J. Divide by 20sec = 370 Watts which is much less than my 170% of 300W. Any insights from someone who truly knows are welcome :).

Put on a 30# vest because , well, I'm just not that bright. Had to take it off after round 4. Why is the torture music so damn happy?
I'm going with two dumbbells 12 pounds each on my shoulders. It took me a few months to get to this point. Start slow work your way up.

Great video, but you are doing it wrong. You need to do jump squads and aim for around 12 to 16 squads for every active 20 sec round.
That shit burns! It makes you pump out white sweat (salt). Pause 2 min after and repeat so you achieve 8 minutes in total follow up with rope skipping 20 min. This training procedure burns all your fat! Straighten your back when in lower position. And don't go all the way down, stop at 90 degree angle.
I cant wait for this!! Definitely will be throwing this into my mix of rotation to blast legs!!

New trend?been doing this for 10 years with two 10lb dumbbells over the head with straight up tip toes almost coming out of my shoes…add weights it’s even 1000x harder.

Another slightly more advanced challenges putting it to a metronome. With a minimum of 70 beats per minute and there are no breaks, like on the Tabata. If you can do that for 6 minutes that should collapse you to the floor just fine. Then you can move on to 80 bpm.
