I've been watching Leachman for 30 plus year from Australia and in and in my mind they are one of the world leaders in beef production, breeding for $ driven profits, when is the Australian beef industry going to step out of a colour driven industry into a sustainable profit driven industry. Multiple breed prediction numbers, they are geniuses.

Have you checked out Pharo Cattle Co also in Colorado? Real cattle for real tough conditions. Their bulls, like their cow herd, never get grain or other supplemental feed. They are grown and develoed on grass. Just grass. Hay is fed only in an emergency. During drought, they move them to other ranches, or destock. Check out their website, or their videos. We are not affiliated with them in any way.

We got our first leachman 4 years ago and he quit growing. As a yearling, right after buying him or about 3 months, he was asked to breed 20 to 25 cows on high meadows in southeastern Idaho. He was in with cows for 45 days. And he quit growing and matured at 1020 pounds maybe a frame score of 4 to 4.5. We have a 365 day mineral program that changes according to.seasons, weather, forage, and class of animal. He had no reason to stunt out. We informed leachmans we believed we had been sold a dud and they were very curtious and agreed to credit us the cost of the new bull through the difference of the first after we sold him. The second bull we bought came up lame after sale and they told us they had a similar bull to the.one we had bought. My grandpa had been dealing with them and agreed site unseen to him. Mind you he went to the sale.in person and the class they have on their epd the day before. The bull we were sent was rat tailed, light boned, massive headed, and maybe 900 pound. He lasted one season as a replacement bull and spent 25 or 30 days in with cows out of the 45. He failed semen test. We quit using leachmans. I think we paid more than fair for 2 bulls when we could have bought 3 more locally raised at the same price. I never felt like ive bought a bull in the past and been wronged but those bulls were atrocious. In the 2 years of leachman calves we had about 30 calves that when weaned were 10 inches shorter and 60 or more pounds lighter than their counterparts. All with big heads. I feel like leachmans sell you a name. Sell you an idea that is not productive in application. I've only seen 2 other leachman bulls and they seemed to be fair bulls but nothing that the average producer would say that's a bull.I want my heifers to.look.like.

Nice job. The industry seems to be awash in EPDs again. For awhile there it seemed like we were on the right path with ERTs. One of my favorite lessons from Apple is that Steve Jobs pushed for simplicity at a time when others were getting fancier and more complex. I think you're doing something similar here. Keep up the good work and good luck at this year's bull sale.

Very informative, do you have many Canadian buyers? And if so, how about Alberta feedlots, are there any familiar, with the Stabilizer cattle?
