15:20 - Now that you have the tarp on to kill the weeds, rather than later start to dig up the soil, I do recommend rather considering doing a "no dig" garden as described by Charles Dowding (also from the UK). He has quite a few videos here on his TH-cam channel (for free), as well as books and courses to help you starting a no dig garden. Less work. Less weeds. I have been doing no dig now for over a decade and it is really a superior method of gardening. Hope this helps.
A good tip is probably to tighten up that chain. Being tha loose also makes it more dangerous. Might want to change the chain anyhow, cause that seems *Extremely* blunt.....
I find that the battery/electric chainsaws are less intimidating than the gas powered. I think it’s just the loudness of the gas chainsaw that’s intimidating. As long as your chain is at the right tightening and you’re cutting blades are sharp shouldn’t have a problem.
From others I’ve watched the chain saw must be running before you touch the wood. You could have used a log or two to roll the pole. It did seem the chain was too loose as well. Where’s Roger? Couldn’t he have helped you? Using one of those things by yourself is foolhardy. What if you’d got cut or otherwise hurt? Experienced people have more safety gear. That thing could have slipped and half cut your leg off. Glad you’ve resolved to not use it again, at least until someone has worked with you with it. Even professionals have accidents. Wishing you a healthy, happy New Year.
I like to think I’ll be able to wield a small chainsaw once I have my Portuguese home, but as someone who cannot cut vegetables without cutting a finger I’m not sure that I should be allowed to 😂
Woohoo🎉🎉🎉. Hopefully, you’ll need the chainsaw for smaller jobs like cutting kindling for the fire. Wishing you further enjoyment and success in developing your little piece of paradise in 2025 and beyond❤.
Love to see a woman feeling she conquered a task she thought impossible! Congrats 🙌

I’m 76 years old and have been using my electric chain saw for years with caution of course. Chain may need a little tightening.

Yes, I only saw how loose it was when I watched the video. Next time I will check it before I use it 🙏💕

Happy New Year Mario 🥳🥰
@@dreamlifeportugal Muito obrigado Suzy.
Any chainsaw needs safety clothing, you'd be in big trouble very fast if things went wrong. The chain appears to be loose in the extreme.
You are right Annie. I didn’t even think to check the chain. Next time I will be more awake 😅🥰
@dreamlifeportugal Best you do unless you like hospital food!!
Happy new Year to you and the Puss Cats
Thanks Patricia. Happy New Year 🥳
Excelente quero te desejar um Feliz Ano Novo e obrigado pela sua dedicação um grande abraço ❤
Feliz ano novo Luísa E obrigada por estar aqui 🙏🥰
@dreamlifeportugal Eu que agradeço querida
If the log is too big and there’s room underneath you can come from the bottom up.
Hope you don't mind but the chainsaw chain needs tighting for safty sake
Thanks Martin. You are right. I didn’t even notice that and I will make sure I do that 🙏💕
Good for you Suzy. There is a first time for everything. Now you know how to use a chainsaw :)
Well kind off 😂😂

Thanks for your care. Happy New Year 🥳💕
My home was 4° this morning X
Yes, it’s getting colder! But the sun ☀️ still shines 😀💕
Sawing motion looked dangerous. 😬 Think just holding chainsaw still and let it do the sawing is safer. 🤷♀️ But, what do I know...chainsaws scare me.
I think you are right. I just needed to hold it there. Next time… Happy New Year 🥳🥰
@dreamlifeportugal Happy New Year to you too. 🎉🎆
I enjoy your channel and absolutely love your home and location.
❤❤😊

about to move into my rural house in Viseu and still too scared to switch on any power tool let alone use it😮
@@lisacraig4585 I can relate 😂
Especially in Portugal where it seems that plugging in any one thing if another one is running will trip the circuit 😳
Anna, you will be surprised at what you may want to try. I never thought I would use one 😂🥰
that extension is on the road and not flat, very dangerous
The road is not used so it was quite safe. Happy New Year 🥳🥰

Thanks Lisa. I am sure the chainsaw will be out again at some point. All my pear trees near a good cut back 😀💕
Feliz 2025
Feliz 2025 🥰
