FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q. Can I play this with a -4 or -5 mana wand? A. Yes, you just don't take Gift of Winter. Q. I can't take Spark Artillery (lightning conversion) in Frost Claw if I have -4 or -5 cost wand, is this a problem? A. No, you do not need that node. The build still works the same with Cold or Fire based Frost Claw. Q. How do I improve my bossing damage? A. Check out the new end game version of this build that combines the amazing clear speed with boss oneshot capabilities: th-cam.com/video/SLFBbVdeIp0/w-d-xo.html Q. Why are you not using Elemental Nova? A. Nova only has a 42% chance to apply per cast / recast of Frost Claw. With 5 per cast, that would be 2.1 (0.42 * 5) per FC Cast. For our build we already can apply 20+ Spark Charges per cast so this is a very small increase that didn't seem worth cluttering the screen and taking up a skill slot. Q. Is this build better than glacier? A. Depends what you want to do, both are S-tier. This one will likely be able to clear echos much faster. Glacier might have an easier time bossing until high level of gear where Spark Charge shines. Q. How do I sustain mana? A. You cast teleport with mana tunnel then meteor right after - You occasionally mana strike - You get mana back from sorcerer tree archmage Q. When level can I transition to this build? A. As soon as you have a total of 64 passive points which would be mid 50s + 8/8 from campaign. You need 20 points in the mage tree to unlock sorc, then 40 points in sorc tree to unlock arcane current which is mandatory. Q. What is required to start the build? A. Just the 64 passive points mentioned above. You do not need any gear to start, it is strong even before you get enigma. - If you don't have enigma yet, you want the highest amount of flat damage possible (eg. staff with high +spell damage or Vilatria's set) Q. What are the most important things to focus on? A. Get enigma as soon as possible, you can use runes of ascendance on any catalyst, banish nemesis to reroll uniques, buy catalyst prophecies as CoF, or purchase from bazaar as MG. - You also want gear with as much INT as possible, after that prioritize mana, cooldown, and critical strikes. Q. Why does Frost Claw need to cost 40, can I make it cheaper? A. No, it must cost at least 40 because the Arcane Current node which applies spark charges only works if the spell costs at least 40, see my mana cost calculator tool: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DLiKBOApPtBBm5prr185HU-iYM9k28ENFgz-voXpB-4/copy?gid=245613649#gid=245613649 Q. My Frost Claw costs 40 but I still do no damage, why? A. The game does not show you decimal places, your Frost Claw actually costs 39.6 or something like this, and is showing you 40. - Use my Mana Cost calculator to determine what your actual mana cost is: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DLiKBOApPtBBm5prr185HU-iYM9k28ENFgz-voXpB-4/copy?gid=245613649#gid=245613649 Q. Why is my Frost Claw mana cost not reaching 40? A. You must have ALL the mana cost increasing nodes in Frost Claw skill tree: Hand of Morditas, On Through the Snow, Ever Onward, Frozen Malice, Volley of Glass. You also cannot have any mana efficiency on the idols / Frost Claw tree, and you cannot have too much Minus Mana Cost on your weapon / Frost Claw skill tree. Use my mana cost calculator to help: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DLiKBOApPtBBm5prr185HU-iYM9k28ENFgz-voXpB-4/copy?gid=245613649#gid=245613649 Q. Will this work as Runemaster or Spellblade? A. No, you need 40 points in Sorcerer to unlock Arcane Current. Q. How do you trigger Meteor? A. I am not triggering it, I direct cast it after I use teleport. Q. Why Meteor? A. I use it as a mana generator. When you have Mana Tunnel in Teleport and Aftermath in Meteor you recover a lot of mana when using meteor directly after teleport. Q. Why Mana Strike? A. I use it as a mana generator. It is not really necessary when running echos, but it helps for an extra boost when fighting tanky bosses. If you don't find it necessary you can use snap freeze or ele nova, or something else. Q. Why not Focus? A. Focus has a node which adds cooldown but instantly grants a % of your maximum mana, I tried using this and it felt awkward and clunky. You may prefer this over meteor + teleport, that's an option. Q. Why Prismatic Gaze? / How do we get or use shards?! A. We don't care about the shards, we only use the helm for the base crit it provides.
Dragorath mana strike version incoming? (I heard the mana on crit from mana strike is not being reduced by 80% so it might be enough for sustain if that is the case)
@@impatientimp3292man I was just thinking about this exact build, I’m gonna try speccing it this morning and seeing if it works. No clue if I’ll have to go melee range instead of the ranged manastrike (reduces mana gained by 80%) but I’m gonna mess with it and report back
@@davidkoczarski3229 and if you have a mage already, could you check : Frost claw applied by other methods consume 80% of it's mana cost and Arcane current requires a spell that costs 40 mana. So does Arcane current require a skill that on your tooltip is 40 mana or that when it is being casted it costs at least 40 mana(which would mean we need to make it cost 50 in the tooltip)
The combination of clear and concise video, fully fleshed out planner, and amazingly detailed spreadsheet makes this channel one of the absolute best for LE guides. There was no question I did not have answered if I read through all the information provided. I am very happy that us Mages have such a Herald! Thanks Brother FrozenSentinel. You are a favored of the Phoenix.
I really like that you make sure to really let us know what is needed to play the build. Lots of guides are like "U can play the build early if you want..." Can't wait to give this a go.
I am really enjoying your build. I actually played last epoch probably 4 times before but i've always burnt out and felt like i hit a brick wall in terms of progression midway or near end of normal echoes with dying constantly and feeling like i won't ever progress. Your build has made a massive difference, i am literally fighting mobs 15 levels higher then i am currently and still having no issue at all. This cycle i think i'll finally get to experience empowered echoe's, dungeons, and hopefully figure out how all the legendary crafting system works and so on. thank you for this build. I am already up to last echoes and fighting level 90 mobs even though i am in my 70's. I had found a good 2 hand staff with a lot of mana to ward conversion and damage and ward often around 2k during battle and i can't wait to see how much better this build is when i finally get the key unique catalyst, i have not yet found one. And i am still mostly in my cold damage gear!
I switched over yesterday from mana sorc meteor at 67 and i am glad i did! Even with cobbled together gear missing a lot of the final stats and no unqiues whatsoever apart from the dagger i am doing really great. And its a lot more fun to play. Thank you for the video and guide!
Dude, This is a really, REALLY good upload bro. The information & calculations file is KILLER, The clear, consise, directions with gameplay was intuitive and easy to follow. As a PoE Player, duing summer this is peak season for work ans I got a super late start on Cycle 1.1 so wanted to grab something I knew looked fun while making sure alot of the think work was already done. This is it! Thank you for the energy that went into this one. New Sub here!!
Thank you for all the work you did on this. I got bored with my falconer, so I want to try a sorc. It seems to me this is one of the most well thought out builds with all its iterations.
The LE professor strikes again! Hitting us with a masterclass in frost claw and a very well written guide. Thanks again for your huge effort into all of this.
I've done several Wizards builds, and it's by far the best build. It's powerful even though it's not latent. I'm looking forward to how strong it will become in the future. Thank you for providing the build
I swapped from Self cast Meteor to Glacier last night and now I see this video. Definitely giving it a go after pushing Glacier a little, the nice thing is all these builds need 1000 mana anyway so gear is pretty interchangeable. Super impressed by the level of detail in this guide, good job dude!
I'm having a blast with this build! I'm only having trouble with T4 Lightless arbor, getting 1 shoted at boss by some rocks lol. Thanks for the guide !
At 70 now, and so far one of my favourite builds, thank you! I am using Focus, I feel it's a better backup in case the meteor is not enough, and I really dislike mana strike, but that's personal preference of course.
Hey Balormage, cool seeing you here! If you thought that one was good check out the improved one with all the important uniques highlighted and all others hidden; th-cam.com/video/AHYlWE2vExE/w-d-xo.html - pastebin.com/TZj8bp94
LOVED the build. at least what I see in the video. I was doing meteor self cast till 100c and then noticed it works "meh" on them. so I spec'ed with what I had into the frost claw, leveling skills now and dropped that offhand item into league mechanic for smth good hopefully. so under 100c for now but plays much better than meteors even fi damage is lower.
thank you for this. Real gamechanger for me. At the start i was wondering why my damage was so low and realized i was under 40 mana on frost claw (after killing a monolith boss mind you) and ye, difference is obviously huge.
@@FrozenSentinel i dont get it.. all of a sudden i am sub 40 mana again on frost claw. I have -3 cost on alchemist ladle. If i unequip it the cost goes to 43 mana and if i equip ladle the mana cost goes to 37 mana. So the reduced cost on the ladle is doubled.. any idea why? So this guy told me that the reduction cost double dips in "on through the snow" and counts the double cast as 2x -3 cost reduction.. 43 -> 37. I have no other mana cost reduction so idk how to make the build work with a wand.
@@rajjt1 Whoever told you that is wrong, additive just applies before multipliers. Use the calculator I provided in the description, you probably have mana efficiency somewhere
I just discovered your channel now. That sc music in the background and meaningful explanations, you've earned a sub from this old dawg. I'll be keeping a close eye on your channel on a regular basis for new content. I got an important question for you and perhaps others that play this. Is the performance issues still present in this game like it was on 1.0? I have a 7800x3d, 64gb ddr5, 4090rtx and it shits me to no end in 1.0 playing my detenating arrow rogue. Fps would drop to 30 or sub 60 in monoliths after about 1hr of play. Ive even done clean install of windows and drivers and this issue really threw me off the game. Ive only just cleared the campaign and have hit 62 to unlock monolith. Thanks muchly for making the video.
Surprised that the faq don't have "why the spark version over the frostbite version?" As that was the very first thing thst came to my mind given the frostbite buff and the extra cc potential 🤔
I am not familiar enough with the frostbite version to say but the mana nerf hit it fairly hard. They can't easily run both volley of glass and the extra bounce nodes without giving up a lot of cast speed
OMG where have you been with this build so long? i've broken my head trying to manage how to use frost claw and gain mana and here is the answer. spell focus sucks!
You mention overpowered builds. What would you consider the overall strongest builds to be atm? Finding it harder to pin this down in 1.1 the gap seems comparatively smaller! Big fan of the content, love the dedication and depth!
Poor wording I think on my part, I was specifically referring to builds that can oneshot bosses like the (static orb?) setup Empyrian and his group are running. This setup excels at blasting through echos really fast, and is somewhat survivable. Boss damage is still solid, but if you want a dedicated boss killing character there are likely better options.
@@FrozenSentinel That makes sense! So which builds would you consider best for regular Echoes and pushing corruption for some decent favour gain solo? Beyond the one you're running which is clearly efficient! Trying to figure out what might offer some streamlined dad gameplay! Thanks for the response, haven't had as much time to get informed on this season!
@@stoffel4076 this one is top tier easily, I blasted way more xp/hr than the glacier guys during the race to 100. Glacier is still good though, and there are a few others around, comes to personal preference.
A great breakdown! I am runnig something similar, though I am running dragorath's claw and Lightning blast, for the Lightning Aegis and instant proc of Spark charges, a little more mana finnicky, but hell does it rip through damage.
@@FrozenSentinel As spread sheets go, that one is godly for us regular folk. May be the first one I've ever loved TBH. Talk about cutting to the quick!
this build is better to use because of the RunMaster specialization and not because of the Mage, since there will be no problems with mana very quickly))
I was wondering, what 's changed since last season that the current Claw build do not stack cast speed so heavily ? I remember in 1.0 The more CS% the better (especially if u rolled high weaver's will on Erased gloves)
Frost Claw is 40 Mana in this build, you can't spam it with 300% cast speed so it is better to focus damage and cast less often with bigger hits. CS% only helps vs bosses where you dump your mana and hop it dies before you run out
Thank you for the build, it’s both fun and powerful. Have a question though, in your spreadsheet you mention spell crit as most important stat on wand and catalyst, but in both mid and end game planners you seem to prefer crit multi as T7-stat on slams. So I’m confused on which I should prioritize for my slam on my 2LP ladle I just found 😊
Once you reach end game you get enough spell crit from int / etc. that you don't really need as much spell crit on gear. It's just a minor optimizing of affixes T7 spell crit is fine though, you can move other pieces around as necessary, you just don't want to go over cap as that is wasted
Hey Frozen, Just want to make sure I understand your crit calculator correctly as I'm playing around with phantom grips and prismatic gaze. Is the Frost claw passive Rending Cascade part of the conditional base crit? So, if I have just 1 phantom grip (2% crit), character sheet spell crit of 60% and 4 points in Rending Cascade (8%), that gives me 107.14% actual crit which would mean I'm crit capped? I haven't got a decently rolled prismatic gaze yet so I'm running a Boneclamour. I'd probably prefer to run the Boneclamour anyway for the Int. I was running 2 phantom grips, but I swapped 1 out for the set ring, and I seem to still be critting 100% even though my sheet crit says 60%. Rending Cascade seems extremely valuable if this is the case. Cheers!
It would count as conditional base crit if you are calculating the crit chance for Frost Claw itself, but not if you are calculating the crit chance for Spark Charges which do NOT inherit the bonus crit from the Frost Claw nodes.
Ok thanks mate. So the only sources of base crit for the spark charges are from gear? Is this also why spark artillery is not mandatory, because it's only applying to frost claw itself? So that lightening conversion is not really required as spark charges are already lightening..
MY man, do you have a build planner or a way to follow the guide other than this video? Nevermind, i copied the guide link from your adress bar. I managed to get it off the ground and it does feel amazing. thanks for the guide, mate.
Hello! I have been using your build and enjoying it so far. I'm level 97 with COF 11 and currently pushing 300 corruption for farm. I've acquired many of the items in your guide as well, although none of them have a T7 INT slam unfortunately. While I can clear echos with ease, bossing feels a bit slower than expected. For this build, is it more important to stack as much INT as possible over running the desired uniques (except for Enigma). If I have decent exaulted armor pieces with T7 INT on them, is that preferred until I can get T7 INT slams on the uniques? For example with the rings, I'm running 2x phantom grips along with the Bonecleave helm, but neither rings have INT on them, so should I switch back to 2x Ferebor's instead and drop Bonecleave for Prismatic gaze? Appreciate the help.
Thanks so much for the build update. Enjoying it a lot! Also love your spreadsheet. Would it be possible to add details on the equipment section of the spreadsheet to include if it's worth using with or without LP? Similar to the rings section. A lot of us are able to find non LPs of the uniques but don't know when to switch over from a really good exalted. Thank you so much for the hard work!
It's kind of subjective usually, depends on the rest of your gear and what you need. I'd say any unique on a slot that can get INT probably isn't worth using without LP, except maybe Prismatic Gaze
Love the build even if the Mad Alchemist Ladel is refusing to drop for me at 500c. Currently working on upgrading from Ferebor's Persistence to Julra's Stardial with Int on it.
Thanks for the build, I''ve been playing glacier since the beginning of the cycle but was kinda getting bored of it, but this build feels so much fun to use, I cant wait to have the gear to go for your Frost claw + static orb build ! I have just 1 question, I had the chance to loot a lp3 wrongwarp that I was using for my glacier set up, and even tho it's not the perfect stat for this build, I wish I could still use it, but it got -4 mana cost on it, which got my frost clow cost to 39.6 with the skill tree on the planner. How do I get frost clow costing more than 40 mana while using it (if its possible) ? If I dont take gift of winter, i cant go to the spark artillery node and I cant go the otherway around because of Spark of celerity Thanks again for the build, I hope the catch you on twitch soon !
Hi, thanks for very indepth guide, I have a question tho, the affix priority says that we should prioritize spell crit chance on wand/catalyst/amulet first, but planners show that we actually slam crit multi into these slots, so what do we actually prioritize more? UPD: I've been leveling Sorcerer on SCF as Glacier at level 80 and decided to give this build a try and made a switch. As a player who leveled over 10 different characters on SCF I can say this build feels like the most broken early game build I've ever played except of maybe 1.0 SD falconer. All my gear atm is just a resistance rares and int/mana everywhere I could fit.
You only want enough spell crit to get to around 100 ish crit chance, the rest can be multi. You don't need spell crit everywhere once you have a lot of INT which also gives us spell crit.
How would someone go about combining some of the gearing choices in your other build (mostly Wrongwarp and the movement speed ring) with this? It feels super clunky to try and do it with meteor, but I like the possible speed you get with that setup. Also, when I roll Wrongwarp (mine is -4 mana) my only choice is to give up the +1 in Gift of Winter which subsequently cuts me off from eventually getting Spark Artillery); how much damage am I losing from giving up Spark Artillery? Finally, could you share some info on what the crit cap is? I'm trying to figure out how highly I should value the crit items (like the Phantom Grip rings) rather than int items and it's hard to say. Should I only take those unique if I can successfully slam them with T6+ int? Or are they worth using over a T6 int exalted just on principle (same goes w/ Prismatic Gaze).
You can get the movement speed stuff for this build, you don't need over 1000 mana though. Giving up meteor will hurt your mana sustain but you can use focus instead if you want. You don't need Spark Artilary. Crit cap is 100%, you likely need a total of +4 base crit somewhere end game, and the rest can be obtained with increases to crit from int / elsewhere.
I saw you have Dragorath's as an alternate. Damage-wise, how much worse do you think it is than the Ladle? It seems so perfect for this build I kinda hate that it's not BiS lol
Hey man thank you for a solid build. Got one question. I put all the requirement field in your mana calculator for frostclaw sheet, but it resulted a little higher than in-game. Could you please let me know if there's anything i did wrong? I got a wand with -3 mana cost and all the mana increment nodes allocated the tooltip says 41.8 but in the calc it says 49.78.
Have you ever tried this with culnivar’s claim instead of ladle? The one downside is your mana converts to ward at full but with the teleport+meteor it might not be much of a problem.
This build slaps but where does the 1500+ mana come from? I'm only leveling atm but only have 340 ~ mana i can't fathom where the other 1150 comes from?? Any tips on how to plan that out appreciated.
Switched to this yesterday and it feels great, currently about level 80. One question though, wouldn't cast speed be a good affix to aim for? I see you don't have it in the sheet.
Thank you very much. Just 2 more questions. I'm using a 3lp wand, can you tell me which is better, lightning force vs stun? And can you tell me in the order of the best options to see in the ladle of mad alchemists?
Hi! if you don't use elemental nova anymore, so Unstable Core still recommended for the rest of the stats or it's better to use another of the alternatives? By the way, I'm not a native English speaker, what does BIS word mean in your Excel? 😅
I was really hoping and waiting you'd do a video wrapping everything you have streamed and tested thus far! EXTREMELY useful video, thanks a lot Frozen :) Btw, are you planning already on playing other classes?
@@FrozenSentinel Yeah i wanted to try Avalanche and Bleed Hammerdin! But first i will get at least the mid / high end setup with Sorc :D If the FC runemaster comes back as S tier again i will do it 100% too lmao. I know you can make it happen!
Thanks so much for the Guide! I became a recent subscriber. I do have a question. Can I do well with this build using MG as opposed to COF? I'm more of a casual player, so MG works better for me.
So im giving this build a go before i go into the stronger lategame one, as this feels more like the leapfrog to the next one, But I'm curious about the interaction between Spark Artillery and Reowyn's Veil; As spark artillery turns frostbite (from all sources) to Shock chance. Does this mean Reowyn's is useless? or does it still calculate the frostbite before swapping or does it now use shock chance.
FC dps doesnt really matter, its a tiny percentage of our overall damage vs spark charge. WW is a good option though, check my latest upload for new end game variant
Hey, i also play the build thanks to you an its great. I am atm at your old version for the start including elemental nova. Why is it not worth anymore? Thx a lot for your work
Ty for the update. I'm close from your mid/high end build and running 700c (playing MG). We don't have frailty or armor shred on your new gear, is it ok to run without?
this build is great :) thank you! one question about teleport thing - so after teleport next skill cost mana is refunded right? Should it be refunded in 100%? couse it seems like its not refunding full mana cost or am i missing something? I have 1100 mana and when i drop to 850, use teleport and then static orb that cost around 260 mana i'm not at full mana. Even whe i used meteor i noticed that mana cost is not fully refunded.
If you have 1000 mana and static orb costs 200 mana, you lose 200, then gain 200, so you are still at 1000 mana. It doesn't give you the free spell AND refund 100% of the cost.
I played a bit of Frostclaw Runemaster last cycle. In what ways would you say this differs from that? Survival and damage somewhat comparable to last cycle?
Thanks so much for the video, i'm loving the build! Just hit the 64passive points and did the transition. The lootfilter link doesnt work properly, can you have a look on it?
Thanks for the vid! I wanted to try this out last cycle as a runemaster but think ill try this as my second char. Is it not worth to go ele nova anymore?
Thank you! I'll be honest, it was a long week for me and there were quite a few times where it felt more like a job than something fun, but I am very happy I was able to deliver a cool new way to play a fan favorite skill.
Do you have any tips/build change to kill Shade? I'm blasting in 750 map but i have a really hard time vs Shade (with your mid/high build + int unstable core).
Great build. Sorry about a bit of an irrelevant question: how do I aim 3 meters away of I use controller? I also am new so don’t know how to get Enigma.
Never played with controller so I don't know if you will be able to aim in that way, shouldn't matter that much though. Enigma is from catalyst + rune of ascendance or random drop.
Also, I have a -4 to mana weapon so I can’t take any points on gift of the winter therefore can’t take spark artillery. I really like it though am I stuck? If I take GoW I’m at 40 mana cost for Ice Claw and like you said it doesn’t proc spark charge.
You compared glacier and this build in terms of strength, what about gear requirements and how easy they are to get set up? I am using glacier at around level 55 now doing monos and it is going ok, does this build have mana issues while using bad gear or is it easy to manage?
This build is much easier to get started, glacier needs a certain amount of mana to recover enough per cast to sustain, this build gets most of the mana back just from levels in meteor / teleport / mana strike, more mana only gives slightly more back
How would you say it compares to the build posted by Maxroll/Bina? Regarding ease of getting online, midgame progression, high end scaling? I’m lvl73 Glacier and thinking of rerolling.
I leveled in a group with 2 other Sorcs playing glacier, as soon as I swapped it was immediately obvious how much stronger my character was as they didn't yet have their mana problems solved, and the damage scaling for them wasn't quite there yet. Mid to late game Glacier becomes pretty strong but it takes some gear before it feels good. This build feels good throughout mid 50s to late game, with a big power spike when you get Fragment of Enigma. Then continues to scale extremely hard with more INT.
Can someone explain to me the key difference between this is Maxrolls Frostclaw 50/50 Runemaster/Sorc build using a ton of uniques? Is this one overall stronger? Is there an eng game planner showing perfect gear? I'm using Maxrolls cold version atm but this looks a lot stronger. Thanks
cold Frost Claw uses DoT with frostbite to scale damage, this uses spark charges. the builds will play very differently but I have heard quite a few people that played both say this felt stronger
Is there any way to use the Vilatria's Downfall staff and helmet set? I didn't see any way to activate Arcane Current with this set / staff = -4 spell mana cost
You can if you take 0/3 gift of winter. I did experiment with it and the damage was quite high. You need 2x Phantom Grip rings to get your crit up though
I'm guessing tooltip DPS doesn't matter for this build? For example, I have a helm with no INT that shows 6000 DPS on Frost Claw, and a helm with 12 INT that drops it do 4000. Guessing the 12 INT is better anyway?
I am trying this out at level 68. Is it me or is the provided loot filter too strict? Even some purple items that seem like upgrades to my gear are hidden. Or maybe i am just dumb and they are trash items. I don't seem to see a less strict one provided. Mainly to make sure i got my basics up like +int on most gear and such. I am max resists and i am switching from cold leveling build so all my damage is mostly cold on my items. I guess slowly switching to items with Int lightening dmg and so on but not sure if filter is just way too strict for this transition or not, i haven't seen for example in 10 echo's anything light up except random lendaries. Also hoping i get lucky with the unique catalyst drop, haven't ever seen it yet.
It's very strict yea, might help to add the affixes you need but if it doesn't have at least a T6 with a useful affix it probably isn't worth picking up imo. Feel free to add more affixes to the filter as needed for resists and such
this build is so good, but for me, trying to make mana work is just not worth the hassle. no matter what you do you cannot just stand there and attack. you eventually run out even with teleport-meteor and mana strike and to me it is very anti fun
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
A. Check out the new end game version of this build that combines the amazing clear speed with boss oneshot capabilities:
th-cam.com/video/SLFBbVdeIp0/w-d-xo.html
Q. Why are you not using Elemental Nova?
A. Nova only has a 42% chance to apply per cast / recast of Frost Claw. With 5 per cast, that would be 2.1 (0.42 * 5) per FC Cast.
For our build we already can apply 20+ Spark Charges per cast so this is a very small increase that didn't seem worth cluttering the screen and
taking up a skill slot.
Q. Is this build better than glacier?
A. Depends what you want to do, both are S-tier. This one will likely be able to clear echos much faster. Glacier
might have an easier time bossing until high level of gear where Spark Charge shines.
Q. How do I sustain mana?
A. You cast teleport with mana tunnel then meteor right after
- You occasionally mana strike
- You get mana back from sorcerer tree archmage
Q. When level can I transition to this build?
A. As soon as you have a total of 64 passive points which would be mid 50s + 8/8 from campaign. You need
20 points in the mage tree to unlock sorc, then 40 points in sorc tree to unlock arcane current which is mandatory.
Q. What is required to start the build?
A. Just the 64 passive points mentioned above. You do not need any gear to start, it is strong even before you get enigma.
- If you don't have enigma yet, you want the highest amount of flat damage possible (eg. staff with high +spell damage or Vilatria's set)
Q. What are the most important things to focus on?
A. Get enigma as soon as possible, you can use runes of ascendance on any catalyst, banish nemesis to reroll uniques,
buy catalyst prophecies as CoF, or purchase from bazaar as MG.
- You also want gear with as much INT as possible, after that prioritize mana, cooldown, and critical strikes.
Q. Why does Frost Claw need to cost 40, can I make it cheaper?
A. No, it must cost at least 40 because the Arcane Current node which applies spark charges only works if the spell costs at least 40, see my mana cost calculator tool:

Q. My Frost Claw costs 40 but I still do no damage, why?
A. The game does not show you decimal places, your Frost Claw actually costs 39.6 or something like this, and is showing you 40.
- Use my Mana Cost calculator to determine what your actual mana cost is:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DLiKBOApPtBBm5prr185HU-iYM9k28ENFgz-voXpB-4/copy?gid=245613649#gid=245613649
Q. Why is my Frost Claw mana cost not reaching 40?
A. You must have ALL the mana cost increasing nodes in Frost Claw skill tree: Hand of Morditas, On Through the Snow, Ever Onward,
Frozen Malice, Volley of Glass. You also cannot have any mana efficiency on the idols / Frost Claw tree, and you cannot have
too much Minus Mana Cost on your weapon / Frost Claw skill tree. Use my mana cost calculator to help:

When you have Mana Tunnel in Teleport and Aftermath in Meteor you
recover a lot of mana when using meteor directly after teleport.
Q. Why Mana Strike?
A. I use it as a mana generator. It is not really necessary when running echos, but it helps for an extra boost when
fighting tanky bosses. If you don't find it necessary you can use snap freeze or ele nova, or something else.
Q. Why not Focus?
A. Focus has a node which adds cooldown but instantly grants a % of your maximum mana, I tried using this and it felt
awkward and clunky. You may prefer this over meteor + teleport, that's an option.
Q. Why Prismatic Gaze? / How do we get or use shards?!
A. We don't care about the shards, we only use the helm for the base crit it provides.

Thank you. Note that this one doesn't "need" 1000+ mana it's more of a "nice to have", mana sustain is mostly fine even if you have 300-500

I did that a couple times too
@@FrozenSentinel i dont get it.. all of a sudden i am sub 40 mana again on frost claw.

Unfortunately there are still many performance issues, I think it is better than before but inconsistent.

@@FrozenSentinel Thanks for the reply!
I was wondering, what 's changed since last season that the current Claw build do not stack cast speed so heavily ? I remember in 1.0 The more CS% the better (especially if u rolled high weaver's will on Erased gloves)
Frost Claw is 40 Mana in this build, you can't spam it with 300% cast speed so it is better to focus damage and cast less often with bigger hits. CS% only helps vs bosses where you dump your mana and hop it dies before you run out
Brood war OST?? Take my like
Nice explanation and good job on the doc thank you man
Thank you for the build, it’s both fun and powerful.
Hey Frozen,
Just want to make sure I understand your crit calculator correctly as I'm playing around with phantom grips and prismatic gaze.
So that lightening conversion is not really required as spark charges are already lightening..
yes
oh Im waiting for this build finnaly thank you frozen
Without this guide, I'd have been using the claw skills under 40 mana. thx!!!
Yes INT is priority, then base crit
Thanks so much for the build update. Enjoying it a lot! Also love your spreadsheet. Would it be possible to add details on the equipment section of the spreadsheet to include if it's worth using with or without LP? Similar to the rings section. A lot of us are able to find non LPs of the uniques but don't know when to switch over from a really good exalted. Thank you so much for the hard work!
It's kind of subjective usually, depends on the rest of your gear and what you need. I'd say any unique on a slot that can get INT probably isn't worth using without LP, except maybe Prismatic Gaze
@@FrozenSentinel Understood! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
Love the Star Craft music
Love the build even if the Mad Alchemist Ladel is refusing to drop for me at 500c.
Currently working on upgrading from Ferebor's Persistence to Julra's Stardial with Int on it.
Only got 1 so far for me, seems like the CoF 150% boss drop thing isn't working on Mage like is intended
If I dont take gift of winter, i cant go to the spark artillery node and I cant go the otherway around because of Spark of celerity
Thanks again for the build, I hope the catch you on twitch soon !
Gift of Winter is not mandatory, neither is Spark Artillery, I am not using them currently; www.lastepochtools.com/planner/oYNlgjwA
@@FrozenSentinel oh I see now that the crit chance is actually 100% in the planner, thanks for the reply
Late game quite a bit, 48% more damage from ladle and free cast speed + shred is really big. Hard to say for sure though
You probably are missing Gift of Winter
Have you ever tried this with culnivar’s claim instead of ladle? The one downside is your mana converts to ward at full but with the teleport+meteor it might not be much of a problem.
We can already spend faster than we can generate if we go all out, and being at low mana means the "current mana gained as ward per cast" is useless
@@FrozenSentinel oh ok good point.

It's okay but mana cost is too high to make full use of it

Ty for the update. I'm close from your mid/high end build and running 700c (playing MG). We don't have frailty or armor shred on your new gear, is it ok to run without?
Mad Alchemist Ladle has both, Dragorath Claw does not. If you are running claw you need to get elsewhere

Good to know, either works tbh as long as it's a sorc
this build is great :) thank you!
one question about teleport thing - so after teleport next skill cost mana is refunded right? Should it be refunded in 100%?
couse it seems like its not refunding full mana cost or am i missing something?
I have 1100 mana and when i drop to 850, use teleport and then static orb that cost around 260 mana i'm not at full mana.
Even whe i used meteor i noticed that mana cost is not fully refunded.
If you have 1000 mana and static orb costs 200 mana, you lose 200, then gain 200, so you are still at 1000 mana. It doesn't give you the free spell AND refund 100% of the cost.

@FrozenSentinel Ty for the response, I'll look more closely to find out what I'm doing wrong! Ty again for the guide
why do you have SO much necrotic res? is it for the barbute swap?
Not intentional, just happens when you play CoF and can't choose all your affixes
Would you recommend using the filter right after we enter the monolith - or is it to strict ?
Fairly strict, the rules are labeled though so you can re-enable the T6 or edit it to also include T5, rares, etc
So before being able to spec into arcane current, I should just level the build any way I want it? Start looking for gear when getting into monos?
Yea exactly
With the massive shadow nerf to Arcane Current passive do you think this build is still viable?

Also, I have a -4 to mana weapon so I can’t take any points on gift of the winter therefore can’t take spark artillery. I really like it though am I stuck? If I take GoW I’m at 40 mana cost for Ice Claw and like you said it doesn’t proc spark charge.
@@visionofgrey you can run 0/3 gift of winter. Not ideal but it's fine
@@FrozenSentinel yes but that means I can’t get the node to change to lightening. I just got a new staff so no negative on mana cost. Thanks again.
You compared glacier and this build in terms of strength, what about gear requirements and how easy they are to get set up? I am using glacier at around level 55 now doing monos and it is going ok, does this build have mana issues while using bad gear or is it easy to manage?
This build is much easier to get started, glacier needs a certain amount of mana to recover enough per cast to sustain, this build gets most of the mana back just from levels in meteor / teleport / mana strike, more mana only gives slightly more back
@@FrozenSentinel Thanks, I'll give it a try. Appreciate your response and the detail of your spreadsheet
Nevermind, I went with your build, still have most of my cold dmg glacier items and it's already just as fast. Gj Mr TH-camr!
@@Wilzekifymaxrolls variant is not so gd anymore, this one is better choice
@@FrozenSentinel but if I leave 0/3 gift of winter, I give up Spark Artillery, right? because the other path takes the Spark of Celerity
I'm guessing tooltip DPS doesn't matter for this build? For example, I have a helm with no INT that shows 6000 DPS on Frost Claw, and a helm with 12 INT that drops it do 4000. Guessing the 12 INT is better anyway?
You can look at the tooltip of your spark charge by holding alt on a node that grants it. Frost Claw tooltip does not matter, correct
@@FrozenSentinel Thanks, I thought of that but I guess it's bugged, tooltip doesn't popup for me but it does on other nodes/skills
@@Korzak86 Try the one in ele nova tree
@@FrozenSentinel That works, awesome ! Thank you !!
You’re doing something wrong then. You can go focus if you have mana problems but you shouldn’t need to.
