    This was a great 8 and a half minute review of the T50Rp pads

    I use mine with stock pads and love them. I also have the alcantara Shure 1540 pads, which are more comfortable, but I like the stock sound better and find the stock pads decently comfortable.

      I personally prefer them with the stock pads since I mostly use them for monitoring. I mean it's the reason why the sound is completely flat. I used to have Brainwav hybrid pads on them but they always sound kinda distant because of how far away the driver is to the ear. I found a way to make them actually comfortable by stuffing foam under the pads making them more angled giving room for the ears. I also noticed that T50rp drivers have a common issue with low end buzzing and I found out that having more pressure against the driver relieves that problem.

    I've seen these headphones in a number of pretty high end studios. They're almost made to plug into a mixing board. They're not flat, they're neutral, which is exactly what you want for many kinds of studio work.

    The felt changed from mk2 to mk3 on the back of the driver, thicker and a hole in it, but you are missing a detail.The Mk3´s have a vent all around the cup, bellow the pads, they let air escape from the chamber as a huge port. The mk2 is more confined and vents only at the back, the mk3 has a lot of weird things going on, that's why it is easier to mod the mk2, less variables. And yeah, they are crazy fun to mod, if you are in that sort of thing

    I don’t understand how to remove the pads, I try to pull it over the edge, but I’m afraid that it will simply tear.

    You should really ask for a pair of ZMF Classics to review. Those are ZMF's entry level cans and more targeted to the budget-oriented fellows out there. Also, not that many reviews on the Internet. Your opinion on them would be highly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work!
    LE: Also, if you could do a comparison with another affordable planar, the HE400S, it would be great!

    DMS3 TV If you like moding you should try Superlux HD-330 then. Similar situation as with Fostex out of the box nothing spectacular crap pads, irritating wire and so on. But they are super easy to disassemble and change everything. Changing them from super bright wonderful open can to semi closed with super deep sub-woofer like bass cannons take 10 minutes.

      Its 150 Ohm drivers are probably the best money can bay under 50 dollars. They just need some love just like T50Rp

    The reasoning behind the T50RP's used in a studio is because of how neutral and mid centric it is. If your a producer its the same as a using a Mixcube but on your head~ But because of the capabilities of the driver the enthusiast communities can convert them to however they want to sound without too much difficulty

    I'm surprised that you gave these cans, in modded form, a good review when your opinion on the Talos, a t50rp mk3 modded can, was meh. I'm not sure how much more you can get out of this platform then with the Talos which extended the bass withou bloat, tamed the sharp tremble peaks, gave it an engaging, slight u-shape that didn't kill mids, and a soundstage boost with hm5 hybrid pads.

    • @amerintex
      @amerintex 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jay-Jay The sound quality for me is quite good. In my opinion the midrange is forward and very clear but never harsh. The treable can be a little bright if your touchy in that area but for me i like it lively. The bass is overall sufficent for me not overly powerful but fast and accurate. I mostly listen to old school soul music so it sounds great to me.

    • @zecrotic

      Nathaniel Palmer the sheepskins keep the driver too far from your ear. The only improvement is SS and comfort. For the same price the 1540 pads are better unless you're going to crush the HM5 pads against your head.

    My Beyerdynamic DT770's just broke at the plastic 'clamp' bit on the right side, gutted as they sound excellent, but really, after 2 years of daily use, this is unforgiveable IMHO, two years?! That's pathetic! My Sennheiser HD215s lasted 8 years before they failed and they cost less than HALF of the Beyedynamics!

      I have and they are better than stock but I settled on the HM5 sheepskin pads (non-nagled), as the gave a bit more bass.
      I tried various pads:
      - HM5 Sheepskin (favorite, comfortable and solid bass and vocals)
      - Dekoni Sheepskin (smaller ear hole and a bit less bass thank the above, also think the soundstage might of been a but more congested then the above)
      - Shure 1540 (little less bass than the top two)
      - HM5 pleather angled (more bass than the 1540 but vocals a little more distant as it further from you ears. toss up between these and the 1540)
      - HM5 pleather flat (hoped this would be a nice upgrade to the angled pads, was disappointed, don't remember why, Too bright? too little bass? Both? I forget, but then back to the angled pads)
      - HM5 hybrid (Lose too much bass)

      I loved the 1540 pads on mine but who doesn't want a bit more bass? I enjoyed the comfort enough to keep the 1540 shure pads on daily.

      @gaba319 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm thinking of trying the 1540s out and eventually getting the Mayflower v1 kit. I actually like the sound of the stock mk3's but they are so uncomfortable.

    • @RojasTKD7
      @RojasTKD7 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I tried the Mayflower mod but there are some issues.
      1. the Video they have on TH-cam on how to do the mod is flawed. It's mirror emage, so if you look st it and see the holes punched are slanted L to R it should really be R to L. Makes it confusing to follow along correctly. Also in the Video in the video they place the felt completely covering the opening in the center of the driver and if you reead the comments many complain it has killed all the bass. One person commented he sent his in to be modded and the opening was only half covered, unlike in the video.
      2. I and some others removed the felt completely off the driver to get the bass back to satisfactory levels.
      3. I didn't find much if any difference with the plast fill or felt on the back of the cups. In fact I removed the thick felt strips they have you place on top of the felt in the cups as I didn't like the way is sounded compared to my ather MKIII.
      4. I did like the upgraded baffle they sell as it seemed to smooth out the sound/frequencies. I did notice a difference there, unlike some of the other mods.
      5. I also liked the cotton sheets you place in the cups behind the driver , just don't use too much. It helped reduce some of the harshness.
      6. not paer of the Mayflower mod, but I ducked taped some of the opening around the driver (behind the ear pads ) to increase the bass extension and quantity. Closing off 3 to 4 vents is nice amount of bass. 5 vents is bassy and fun. 6 vents starts becoming too much for some songs. Didn't try more than 6.
      Personally, I'd skip the $29 Mayflower mod and just get there $10 baffle, different pads, add some duck tape to you liking, Maybe some cotton behind the driver (if you like the stock highs you may prefer w/o cotton).

    • @gaba319
      @gaba319 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I might just buy the kit to do my own experimentation, but thanks for all the info. Im mostly interested in increasing soundstage, midrange and reducing the harshness. I would like more sub bass but only if it doesn't sacrifice the tight midbass of stock.

    rihgt now i am listening mk3`s stock on zoom uac2 and they sound amazing can`t wait to "break in" them,you give people wrong impression about these headphones,.. may be that you have to listen music for some serious time so you may be able to hear details..headphones are amazing you can hear noise of recordings, you can hear compressors cliping in bass heavy compressed tracks.all kind of details,you can hear caracter of microphone used in recording process.

    "Studio Headphones" ... ?? Two very different uses for 'studio headphones'. Are we talking in the control room or on the floor ? Two entirely different uses ...Control room should be 'true' and on the floor should be to the preference of the individual musician. Many of us will bring our own cans with us. The ones that work for us on the floor. It is rarely, if EVER, differentiated in reviews and marketing blurbs. Think about it.

    The only reason people buy these headphones is because of the drivers which is also used in the Audeze LCD headphones which are $1000 plus more in cost. You are easily able to spend less money on these headphones to get the similar quality of the Audeze LCD line of headphones. But also people don't give a shit because the Audeze LCD headphones are sexy as hell plus they are perfect out of the box.

    • @DMS3TV
      @DMS3TV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The drivers in these are nothing like audeze drivers. They are much smaller and built on very different architectures. The only real similarity is that they are both planar.
