    Hi David from Wales. I have a pair of T50-RPs mark 2 modded. The pads are zmf lambskin. They are powered by a graham slee solo amp. I enjoy them better than my T60RP headphones. Hoping you can review the t60s soon. Great video by the way.

    Great review, was really looking forward to this one! I haven't heard any bad things about the Modhouse Argon thus far so I think it will be my next purchase. I only have a Magni 3 for AMP power at the moment and I feel like they could run these, but not to the degree that the Argons would want... I guess I should probably start saving for a new AMP for these headphones.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Caleb Name Yes the Magni 3 could power them decently but for the full Argon effect an amp with 4-6w is preferred. I couldn't come up with any negatives to say other then pads get warm and that is a petty complaint.
      Thank you for the kind words and watching.

    I think I'm missing something. Everything you said about the headphones is spot on, but for me there is really not that much bass as much as everyone says it is. I sent my Mass Drop T-X0 in for the argon mod, but I left the stock pads on. Does the pads really make that big of a difference? My argon sound very balanced.

    I know this is late but I’m new to this. My dac/amp has a balanced 4.4 pentaconn input for headphones. Will that be compatible with the balanced cable provided?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If yiur dac/amp has a 4.4rmm output for headphones, you'll need a balanced cable or an adapter that terminates in 4.4mm for the Argon.

    • @mlacmi4470
      @mlacmi4470 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be clear (unless you've already bought them), *they don't include a balanced cable*. There seems to have been a misunderstanding between Modhouse and Honest Audiophile there. They have partnered with Periapt to make a cable for the Argon, which is probably why they included it with his review set, but it is sold separately.

  • @DamonKraft

    Ok so the MOD is called MkIII? On Amazon they put T50rp MkIII so I was confused. So when you pay the 270 DL on the Mod House page the price includes the headphones + MkIII MOD and you can add all the extras like pads and balanced for a little more cash right?

    I like your content, I would love if you had more subscriptions, I have a question: I have a jds labs atom, you mention that argons work with this amplifier but they do not show their full potential, so what percentage of their total potential with super powerful amplifiers would I get with my atom?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would say you are about 85-90% of potential with the Atom. Moving up to something like the Geshelli Labs Archel 2 or Erish will push them to potential.

    • @kuroshirai4736
      @kuroshirai4736 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheHonestAudiophile It's very curious, because in theory the archell2 and the atom have almost the same power in their specifications, would you also recommend the new magnis? in their specs they are just as powerful as the Erish, but before that, do you think argons are the best choice for closed headphones in a price range of 500USD or less? or would you recommend some other model of closed headphones at that price?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sub 500usd is a large group for the closed back market. Tons of options and depends on what you want for a sound signature. Modhouse Argon are a dark, detailed, bassy can. Beyerdynamic DT 177x Go is a great option for a more analytical sound that has fantastic bass.
      There is a lot that goes into driving a headphone beside watt output, there is also current impedance. The Geshelli Labs Archel 2 and JDS Labs Atom are similar in power specs.
      I was actually thinking of the Geshelli Labs Archel 2.5 when I responded earlier, it is xlr input and 1/4 output has a little more more power then the Atom and Archel 2 when paired with the Enog 2 Pro DAC. The Erish is a fully balanced amplifier and has way more power then any of the other amps mentioned.
      I haven't heard any Magni amps in a review setting but I don't see anything wrong with them, they are a solid option. I would lean on the newer options.

      @kuroshirai4736 4 ปีที่แล้ว
