In this video I talk about the 5 Essentials, the 5 must have´s every smartphone filmmaker should have. The special thing about smartphone filmmaking is the cheap gear, at least compared to "normal" filmmaking. In my opinion the absolut most important asset every mobile filmmaker should have is knowledge and training.

Shane, I see that your message is a year old, but for the sake of others with a similar question, IF you have an XLR microphone, especially one that requires phantom power, then it would be much more practical to put it aside and get yourself a cellphone USB compatible microphone. You can’t go wrong with the Rodes mics.

This would benefit from an extension video focused on drama film making. There's thousands of TH-cam videos on how to make TH-cam videos, but microphone, lighting and camera requirements are not necessarily the same for filming a mobile phone filmed drama. So how about a version of this tutorial on that topic, without massively increasing the budget?

Yes, the iPhone mics are very good quality, however, the difference is in proximity. A mic on or close to the person you’re speaking to will sound much better than a recording that sounds like you’re talking to someone on the other side of the room.

The sound design did not match, and they were wildly off. The camera actions did not let me grasp what was going on; instead, I focused on the camera; the camera needed to be invisible to watch the actual content. Fancy camera movements don't make things interesting to watch; they were very unmotivated shots cut together without music and sound. It might seem that I am here to criticize you, but you need to consider these points and make some good content and guide your subscribers to improve them, not just copying what others are doing with no thought about the structure of the video. No offense intended.
