Actually the stock intake is just fine. All that one needs to do is put a 90 degree thermostat and reprogram the DME so the coolant temperature runs at 90 degrees instead of 105 degrees. It will result in less heat soak (which these N63s are known for). BMW programs the ECU on V8 motors to run really hot because it gets 1 MPG more but in the long run ruins all of the seals, gaskets and melts plastic parts.

I have the exact same model/year/etc. Course, wish I would've gotten the XDrive version but hey, can't win em all. I did have one question, I'm getting ready to do the install of the JB4 this weekend, I am sure you are busy like anyone else but WHEN are you going to do the BCM install video? :) Again man, best video's I've seen for our model by far, super super super impressed.

Does this actually net any real gain in performance? The size difference in the factory tubing and the fact it already draws air from the same location makes me wonder if you get any gains whatsoever. Would be awesome to see a head to head comparison on a dyno. I'm sure it sounds a bit different without the airbox though. I just wouldn't want to waste money on a mod that doesn't net any gains and have to fuss with fitment issues. Not saying anything against this buildup, its very cool! But I'd love to see some numbers if possible.

That motor runs so hot that it cooks everything near it. You'll have to pay for it twice just so you can talk about it. I'm an old school guy with an E39 540i 6/sport with the 6-speed G420 Getrag and I do my own maintenance because it's not that hard.

Great video man! I was wondering if you can tell me the sizes of the pipes you used ? You didn’t say the size of the 45 degree angle pipes for the length.
