One of the worst things in life is being married to an addict / alcoholic. It destroys everything good or any chances of there being anything good. Addiction is for life even if you havnt touched alcohol or drugs in years… you could fall off the wagon at any time, it’s a very insecure way to live life for family members. Hopefully their split will bring security to their children because they have at least one side untainted and stable … they have somewhere to go for solid footing if things come crashing down on the other side.

And the phrase "I would still be drinking if I was still married to her" (Jen Garner) how can people take that as blaming her for his drinking? He is obviously trying to say that he would still feel unhappy in the relationship and therefore that unhappiness would make him want to drink still.
