    THIS is the hardest thing for me to do when I'm practicing!! Just yesterday when I was practicing, I realized that I just wasn't looking where I wanted to go but where I was, and I tend to use too much throttle. On the left turn from a stop, I have NO problem. What's wrong with my brain!!?? In reality, on the streets, I always turn slightly to the right so that it is a little easier to move out.

    I been turning right handed with my right foot up. I switched early on because I’m left footed and I would have a lazy right foot, so sometimes I would catch my foot under the bike. But it does make more sense to do it left foot up. Good video!

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Joe, I use my right foot on the rear brake 100% of the time for more control. However, I know there are different ways of learning, so in this video I decided to show it both ways. I personally think that it doesn't matter as long as the foot is lifted immediately to avoid getting hit by the bike.

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Scott thanks for watching.
      Yeah oncoming traffic is always an issue.
      I would suggest to approach the corner on an angle just as we did for our right turns. It make it much easier. This way you don't have to turn your wheels as much, and you don't have to lean as much. Just don't give too much throttle and use the rear brake to control the take off speed.

    Here in the Philippines our curbs are 90° and our lanes are narrower. The curb coming out of my neighborhood is about twice as high as a typical U.S. curb. At nearly every intersection, there are buildings built right on both streets, so there is no line of sight. Plus it likely that if you are a little ways away from the curb, that another motorcycle will pass you on the right or left and not even stop. Chaos is what we have to contend with. We have to assume bad behavior in Filipino drivers. I had this happen to me last week that a truck passed me on the left when I was stopped at the intersection and then he turned right, right in front of me! I almost wrecked!

    • @BootsandJeansRiders

      @@BootsandJeansRiders I'm an American and have been riding in the U.S. since 1975. I moved to the Philipines 2 1/2 years ago and 2 months ago I bought a motorcycle here. I was quite skilled in the U.S. and riding there was so simple. It was easy to relax and have a nice ride with little effort. Here, in order to have a nice, relaxed ride I have to travel through some very tough riding for awhile, and still the roads out in the "country" are a bit stressful -- very narrow, rough concrete, etc. I really miss my rides in the U.S. I used to live near some really great motorcycling roads.

  • @ORTEZW
    @ORTEZW 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds sounds like a good technique. Myself whenever I come to a stop my right foot never goes down I stop with my rear brakes the last one or two miles an hour possibly apply some front brake for a complete stop at the same time ensuring I am in first gear and only if necessary right foot down to check to make sure I am in first gear and then immediately right foot back on or should I say covering the real break and left foot always on the ground. Once I start to move gently apply real break for drag clutch to friction zone as well as RPMs up this holds the bike somewhat back but allows forward motion and when I start to move front wheel and direction of travel and with somebody for counterweight. As my speed reaches above 5 or 10 miles an hour I can actually lean the bike due to the increase in speed as well as at the same time lightening up on real break and coming out of the frictions on and governing the throttle plus or minus as needed. But that is my technique I also ride a goal and I suppose everyone does it differently. But my slow speed riding I always utilize the friction zone as well as real break for drag coming to a stop turning or just slow speed and traffic regardless to how slow good video

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent!!! We use the rear break as well...However, what we forgot to mention in this video... this video was for the sport bike riders that asked why we only put down our left foot. So we decided to cover placing the right foot down as well, and slightly forward. Hopes that clears up the right foot thing.

    When I’m turning right, I feel like I’m rolling on the throttle too fast, because my right hand is steering and on the throttle simultaneously

      Hey G Zino, don't worry, we find that it is very common. Just use more pressure on the rear brake. Also you can stop more on an angle (as in this video) and you won't over shoot your turn.
      Try it and let us know how it work out.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@BootsandJeansRiders appreciate it. apply some pressure on rear brake, as I’m Turning??

      @@infiniteg7852 Yes...But not too much, just enough to control your speed, you still want to have some speed as you are turning. Just stay of the front brakes, and you will be fine.

      @@BootsandJeansRiders I went out on my bike for about 30 minutes today. I took your advice and used the rear brake on right turns and it helped tremendously. Right now I’m just trying to figure out how to speed it up a little on my turns. I’m going super slow. Lol
