I know you picked the best tire for the Multistrada and Florida. The rain you get down there can be hard and long, leaving deep water on the road. I had the Pilot 5 tires on my Multi and full camping gear with saddlebags and trunk full single up on the Blue Ridge Parkway through NC and into Tennessee, they were amazing driving hard at full lean both sides. It felt like I was a fighter pilot on rails. So confidence inspiring. I wish i could do that every weekend.
Hi Rembo, just to add, I did try the Metzeler Roadtec 01's. They felt great for a while' but I only got 3000 miles before they started having a weird wear pattern and stopped feeling so reassuring. As mentioned I have now fitted Bridgestone T32's. I always ran Bridgestone tyres previously and loved them in every weather in the UK. I will keep you up to date as time goes by. Three trackdays and a 2500 mile trip to Spain coming soon. 😂

Heading to Austin from Nashville on my 2018 PP, shod with Road 5s. I lose the pirellis for Michelins, asap, on my Ducatis and MV Augustas. I’ve been able to get 10k on road 4s on my old ST3. I’ll put Road 6s on as soon as I wear out the Road 5s. Have a safe ride, perhaps I’ll run into you while you’re out there! Cheers!
I have a new bike to me, a 2010 BMW K1300GT and the dealer had installed the Road 5’s. The rear is a 180 but it feels the same, great tires. I now have a new to me Multistrada again and it still has the Angle GT tires on it and I am looking forward to changing them out. Perhaps for a set of Angle GT II’s, since they now have more rain grooves down the center of the tread. THe original Angle GT’s did not give me the confidence in the Rain I want.
Although this video is over a year old, I wanted to share my experience with owning a similar Ducati. I have a '22 MTS V4 PP like Rembo. I currently have 7,500 miles on the bike since new, and the OEM Pirelli Rosso IVs are finally needing replacement. Most of my rides are 150-200 mile weekend rides here in the PNW, and include lots of twisty back roads. As such, the rear tire has worn fairly evenly across its profile, while the front tire has developed some cupping. The main road surfaces here are typically an aggregate stone/concrete, along with some chip-seal country roads. As such, I'm considering the Michelin Power 6 vs the Road 6. I've seen reports that half-way through the life of the Road 6, it can develop audible noise at speed. In addition, some riders have experienced a push with the Road 6 in the steering which requires constant correction at speed. Conversely, I've not seen similar reports with the Power 6.
Hey @aeroman5239, thanks for sharing your experience. The PNW sounds like a great place to ride, especially with all those twisty back roads. As for tires, I get what you're saying about the Road 6. That noise and push can be a deal-breaker for some. The Power 6 might be a better fit for the riding you’re doing-more grip and less of that mid-life hassle. Tire choice is personal, so go with what gives you the most confidence on those roads. Keep racking up the miles and ride safe!
Not that it really matters but the rosso4 rear tire is actually a triple compound tire. Hard center, then intermediate, then super soft compound at the very edge. The profile is also quite different between the two tires, the Michelin has a much more pronounced balloon shape to it. All that said I really like both tires, I have the rosso's on my PP and the road 6's on my GS. If I were going on a trip that even approached the 3k mile mark I wouldn't hesitate to throw some road 6's on my PP.
Good move. Any sport touring tires are going to be fine for the street, even wicking it up a bit on twisty mountain roads. Not only do they last twice as long than track tires with tiny sipes, but they work far better in the cold and rain. I've not run these, but Michelins as well as the other brands have all been great. You pay more for the Michelin name. Pirelli Angels, Dunlop Roadsmarts, Metzler Roadtec, Conti Road Attack all work just fine. A 90/10 I like is the Avon Trail Rider. Not just as they get a little better bite on the gravel roads and whatnot, but they are light, are probably stickier, and look kewl. Two problems. One, they last somewhere between a Rosso and a ST tire. Two, England shut down their plant and haven't produced any elsewhere. If they have, they hadn't made it to the stores when last I checked. I ride a lot and like cheap and they were giving the Dunlops away for quite a while. They've all seen healthy price increases lately though.

Hey Rembo, I know this topic is about your tires but I am a subscriber to your channel, which helped influence the bike I bought, which is a Multistrada V4S, which I absolutely love. My question to you is, with all the miles you put on your bikes, what do you do to keep your butt from getting sore? This is an issue I have on all bikes. I have different seats for different bikes and even got one of the seats re-done to be gel infused. And still after a couple of hours on it and I'm sore. Any advice or information would be very welcome. Really enjoying your channel.
I do nothing except deal with having a sore butt. I am getting ready to take a 20 hour ride one way to Texas. I may have to think of something because last year it was brutal.

I also hsve this problem; just got a new pikes peak a week ago. Did an 8 hour day yesterday;omg my behind was sore I’m in good physical shape but have been riding for 45 years; I don’t think we were meant to sit for that long!
How did the bike do, along with your overall experience in COTA? I have Diablo scorpions on my Multi but I'll look into these when it's time to replace
I was extremely happy with the ride and performance. The first 200 miles were in a complete downpour and I was still able to maintain between 70 and 80 miles an hour without a problem.
Forgot to ask you what tyre pressure are you using front and back?? I’m on 6000 miles on my v4 pikes peak 2nd set tyres and am looking at Michelin 6’s as my next tyres ,would you go standard tyre pressures?
They´re more sports oriented tyres. Got about 10000km on the rear, but needs to be replaced now. Very satisfied overall although I was hoping for a bit more mileage

With the weight of my bike, I did not see any reason to go with the GT version. Other than the extra ply (more weight) I don't know that it is necessary.
I'm in the buy for new tires on my V4S, running oem Scorpion Trail 2 at this point. How would you describe / rate the road 6 vs the Trail 2? Can i expect similar mileage? Also considering Dunlop Roadsmart 4. Keep on posting great material like this!
Try The Conti Trail Attack 3. I switched to them after two sets of the scorpions on my Multistrada V4 S. I’m now about to put my 2nd set of trail attacks on. Better road grip, slightly better wear and I think they look better also. The little bit of off road and gravel I ride they are as good or better the the scorpions as well.

I guess i'm happy with the Scorpions as well, but my thought was that since i don't do off road and hardly any gravel either, i might be better off with a sport touring tire. I find the handling of the bike fantastic, and i imagine it will be even better with a fully road based tire. But we'll see. If i decide to go for another 90/10 option, the new Metzeler Tourance Next 2 seem interesting as well. 🙂
What people have to get their head around is that touring will wear the tires faster than twisties, mileage being equal. How you use the throttle and what roads you ride on will make a big difference. For example, if you mostly ride on straights, a touring tire will wear much better. A sport tire in this situation just wont last and is food for vanity.
With the Pirelli tires I ran stock 34psi and 34psi. With the Michelins I will start with the same and adjust once I get some miles and get to feel them.
@@RemboUSMC Try them, even the Conti TrailAttack3 is superb. One step forward from these Michelin. Warm up very very fast. Enormous grip. Safe in the wet. Durable 5500 miles aprox.
Gotcha, I love them but it gets pretty hot most of the year where I live. I agree they are pretty sketchy anytime it's below 70f and anytime its wet haha.

I use Dunlop Roadsmart IV on my 2016 MTS. Awesome tread life, and lots of grip in the twisties. No complaints in the rain either.

Rosso 4 on a Vitpilin 701 is pure bliss. Best ive used on a light bike. Turn in feel stability faultless.

Yes, I agree. This is all about a long trip that the Pirelli tires are just not made for.

I’m not even sure that you can get the GT in those sizes. They are typically made for larger bikes.

Similar mileage but the MR6 is a better tire, especially in the rain.

Dunlop is one brand I have not tried yet.
Conti RoadAttack4 no doubt.
