    Next challenge. Return to base. All 4 challengers dropped in separate locations and need to return to the a central base before the others. To truely make it a challenge they are not told where they are dropped off. Using a map and compass they need to find out where they are and how to get back. Works best in the countryside where they are no street names to give them clues on where they are. Need to use the landscape to work it out

    It would be great to see you guys take on guide running... how does it feel to run without being able to see?

  • @CraigWhaleMusic
    @CraigWhaleMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did an out and back challenge for my running mates which would be fun to see you guys do :o):
    Each runner has 30 minutes to do an out and back run and finish as close to your start point as possible. The person closest to their start point at exactly 30 minutes is the winner. The catch is, 20 minutes should be ran out and only 10 back. This is a good chance to push yourself and work on a bit of speed. A point system will be used to tally the results, every 0.1 mile is 1 point and of course, the aim is to have as few as possible. In the event of a draw, the person who ran the farthest overall distance will take the win, so going very slow at the beginning to gain an advantage, could end up losing you the challenge.
    The exact route out should be used for returning back to the start. Only one turn is permitted which happens at the 20th minute Filling time up and down streets or doing loops is not allowed.

    This was cool! I've been watching the Running Channel from almost the beginning I've noticed that low HR training, particularly Maffetone training (MAF) isn't something that's been covered in much detail (or at all?). I've been running at MAF for 11 months now and it's been the best thing to ever happen to my running. So here's the challenge: one or more of the Running Channel team to commit to training with Maffetone for a 3 month period and to document the journey in a weekly update video. I know it's not the most exciting challenge ever, certainly one that's impossible to do in just one video but I think it would be really interesting to see how different members of the team adapt. It's helped me improve so much and I'm sure it can others as well.

    Challenge idea: MAF training style session for 5 miles. 180 - age = max heart rate each runner can run at (MAF number). Three possible metrics to determine the winner: 1. The runner who walks the least amount of time to keep their heart rate under their MAF number, 2. The runner who keeps their heart rate under their MAF number the most frequently, and/or 3. What about checking who know the pace best for example 5km pace's run 1st km 6:30 , 2nd 5:00 , 3rd 6:00 , 4...5:00 , and last 5:30, count seconds difference's (smallest difference wins) U can only use watch to start the challenge and obviously to stop it after 5km

  • @robertmcclure3586
    @robertmcclure3586 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Challenge Idea: 5K + 5K does it equal 10K - have each person run two 5K runs (without watches over two days) and then run a 10K a few days later. the person with the closest combined 5K times to the 10K time wins. Runs should be on known routes with measured distances so no need for folks to pace themselves on their watches. This is old school run pacing on your own feeling.

    Challenge idea
    Who can run the fastest 5km the whole time backwards.
    The challenge being because you can only see what's technically behind (infront depending on how you look at this challenge by occasionally turning your head) those who are normally faster runners (looking at Andy or Kate here) have to care about their surroundings a bit more than normal. This may give Anna and Rick more of a chance to gain some points as all parties are a bit more equal here 😜

    Another challenge suggestion. Who can cover a 10km at the most deliberately slowest 'running distance'
    What I mean by this is the runners all have to be faster than walking pace but who can 'run' 10km deliberately the slowest. May be harder than it sounds as you always have to maintain a faster than walking pace but you also cannot speed up. It will take concentration and patience vs speed - another one where the 'slower' two may have an advantage over the 'faster' two 😉

    Chunder Mile, 4 pints (or equivalent), 4 laps of 400m each. Two teams of two, one person drinks and then runs, tags partner and they do the same. Recovery is while your partner goes.

    Great video. Next challenge could be a bit like biathlon. Every runner needs to do five laps in a 5k run. After every lap they need to pause to throw five balls into five buckets (one ball per bucket). Every time the runners miss a bucket they need to go on a penalty lap of 100m.

    challenge idea - dropped in different locations that are all the same distance from one central location and see how fast and if each person can make it back to the central location first. For social distancing, they could do this on separate days or have different central points that are just the same distance as to were they are dropped.

    Next Challenge: Andy, Anna, Kate and Rick must each do a run of their choice and the longest one wins. However, they must run within a 30 mile radius of their houses and their route must be entirely uphill with not a metre of flat or descent. if this gets picked I'd like to apologise in advance to the runners 😂
