Geai sas paidia ! I came back to Greece this year after 4yrs, and I was shocked ! The cost of life completely skyrocketed, I don't know how people can handle daily these hurdles. I live in Paris and I saw many costs that around the same than we have here, even for a simple elliniko, frappé., pastry or simple shopping in AB or Sklavenitis. Of course there are still farmers markets and some thing to hustle but come on! I miss the old good days of my Ellada with drachmes !
1000 $ a month for rent in Greece is ridiculous. I am greek , living in the US and we are paying 1800 $ for an one bedroom including everything. At the same time, salaries in the US are 4-5 times bigger that the ones in Greece. Greece sadly is becoming very unaffordable for the Greeks. If you do not own your property, you will be suffering financially.
@@frank8278 yap it's impossible to find anything below 500€ although I believe that this bubble is eventually going to burst Ofc some people will be financially ruined but without wanting to sound very cruel they had it coming Fast money go away fast as well like the wind
For the median 4-person Greek family, rents have become very very expensive in the last 3-4 years. If the golden rule is that you should spend no more than a third of your monthly income in rent, there's not many people that make 1600 to 1800 Euros a month to be able to afford this.
Indeed but as mentioned in the video, we are talking about one of the most touristic town in Greece, no surprise it is expensive for greek average income.
@@andry6760 it's hard to find rent less than 500€ in Greece in general It's just that most households in Greece are multigenerational, every one is contributing for the bills mama papa grandpa ect and you can somehow make it but you forger privacy.. 😏 But forget
Oh my. I live in a city in Germany where many Greeks live. New rental contracts may be expensive here but most folks are only paying around €7.5 per square meter. When you consider how much higher incomes are here, it's no wonder most Greek people I know like it here.
I live half the year in the house I inherited here in the Peloponnesus in a small village 1 klm from the Ionian Sea. The average rental here is between €200-€500 so €1000 seems very expensive. €1000 here would get you an entire beach front house. Why is it so expensive there?
Anyone who wants to live in Nafplio should expect to pay a high price for rent. Expats that want to live permanently in Nafplio would be silly to pay those rental prices unless they have a lot of money in which case they’d be better off buying a property there.
Rent in Denmark is expensive even for Danes (mostly in Copenhagen and suburbs). But in Greece, rents used to be really low compared to the income and this has changed. But fellow Greeks, Greece is still affordable compared to most EU countries. Especially for digital nomads. It's actually the only option (and that is one of the reasons that rents have raised a lot).
Try to rent the flat "black". If they ask for a 1000 all in the contract you counter propose 800 or 700 a month and only half the amount will be declared to the taxman. This is what the greeks do ! Of course trust between the parties is paramount.
That rental market isn’t for Greeks It’s for foreigners or expats ect I’m renting 340sqmtrs per day with pool outside Nafplio for 420 per day in the summer
Much too expensive for greek income. Don't forget - these are the prices they want, not what they get. Would be better to ask the people what they really pay ...
If you own your property it is cheaper and you can manage your expenses. Here in Canada you have to pay between $2000- $3000 a month so it’s the same. The lifestyle is better in Greece that is the difference.

Compared to Sydney Australia...it's VERY CHEAP at 1000 euros per month😊

Rents in many areas of the US are around $1500 to $2000 per month for a similar flat. But, many people earn $15 to $20 per hour.

Wages would be a lot lower (on average) in Nafplion than Athens, so it would be even harder for the average local.

Thanks!
Its quite cheap for an expat. But how do locals afford those rents? If 70% of your income goes to rent, it leaves nothing else for living.
Just move to a smaller town still super cheap and great coffee and food - drive to these tourist traps when you get the urge

Interesting, no heat? What do you do when it gets cold?
Sweaters, fleeces, 😊
HEY BROTHER LOVE YA BROTHER I HOPE TO BE THERE IN 2yrs
I would much rather purchase a property than rent . Thanks great video

Not sure in Greece and specifically in Nafplio but in some countries the stated asking "price" is not negotiable so much.
@@andry6760 if you pay 6 months upfront you get a deal for sure.
This is quite inexpensive compared to Athens unfortunately.
Imagine living in London zone 2 and having to pay 1,000 - 1,300£ for a single bedroom in a shared household.
80 square meters is so small!
But the price is reasonable
Not really, for Greek standards it's pretty big. Many years ago families lived in small apartments.

Great rental prices Daniel!! Are you or any of the residents concerned about future gentification of the area?
